    Old Habits Coming Back!

Thanks ladies! I broke out the old 3-ring binder I received from the nutritionist at my surgeons office. I think I do need to cut back to basics. I absolutely am not getting enough Protein so I think I also need to go back to keeping a food log. Wish me luck!

    ...and a diet coke

Haha that was me too! I thought I missed diet coke too but after I drank some a while back I realized it does not taste good nor feel good in my new stomach.
  4. This was the hardest stage for me. Hang in there your stomach is still swollen. I was having a hard time with protein shakes also at that point. I ended up with the EAS ready to drink vanilla and I blend them with a handful of ice a little bid of water and a little bit of coffee or peanut butter. I had to water them down because I couldn't stand the consistency or sweetness of them!

    Spouses reaction 2 weight loss

My husband and I have been married for 11 years and I am 31! Very similar. I lucked out that my husband has been my biggest supporters and loves my new body more than I do I think. I would just deal with each issue as it comes up. Your new found sexyness and confidence is a huge ajustment for him as well. If you were like me I was always in yoga pants and long sleeved tshirts before I was sleeved. I have slowly started to feel confindent enough to change my wardrobe. I am sure it is not that your husband does not trust you but it might be hard for him to see the reaction and attention that you get from others. Just keep reassuring him.
  7. I hope that you can get this resolved soon. The stretching thing blows my mind, I just can't see how that could happen so closely. Also, I agree with O.T.R. that liquid calories in protein shakes can sabatoge you. If you get to much protein it can cause problems with absorbtion of some of the vitamins and supplements you should be taking. I love to use myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and protein intake - are you doing anything like that? Please keep us updated on how you are doing and let us know if cutting the protein drinks helps. Please don't be discouraged by any posts you feel as being negative towards you. None of us are perfect and no one else is in your shoes. Good luck!

    Power Aid Zero

Powerade Zero was approved at the beginning and I drink it everyday. It is so much easier than drinking all water!

how many calories and carbs at 4 months out

Thanks that helps. I think I need to bump up my calories a little.
  10. I am 4 months out and am not sure if i am getting the correct amount of calories or carbs. my nut gave me a target for protein but didn't give me a target for either of these. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  11. I have just switched my depression medication. I am only 4 weeks out but could tell that what I was taking was not working for me. Talk to your physician and keep after it until it is right!

    6 months :(

I had 6 months of weighing in and vaious other appointments. Looking back I am actually thankful for that wait. It gave me time to get everything in order and really prepare myself psychologically and emotionally for the change I was about to make. Trust me 6 moths will fly.

Fell off the wagon months ago

I was in the same boat. I wasn't exercising at all but I am now at a point that it is not just falling off. I just kept looking for something to do that was fun I finally settled on Zumba and Just dance at home.

    Shrimp and Tilapia?

Talapia was the first 'meat' that I ate. It is pretty moist and easy to get down plus it is loaded with protein. I also eat a lot of shrimp and have had no problem but just go slow to see how your sleeve is handling it.

    What foods cant you tolerate?

My stomach doesn't like tomato based sauces but will tolerate raw tomatoes. I also can't eat doughy bread anything - crackers and toast are okay though.
  16. I usually ask for an extra plate and pick off of my family's plates. We frequent an italian restaurant in our hometown and my son loves the seafood pasta so I will eat a few pieces of his shrimp along with sharing my daughters salad and 1/2 of 1 of her meatballs. You just have to improvise and not worry about what others think.

A question of image for the post ops

    1. I still see the fat girl. Even though I know I am thinner and the number on the scale is less and the size of my clothes are smaller. 2. Don't care that I can't eat much. It is so much less stressful to not feel obsessed over food. 3. I don't have mood swings. I was a little extra emotional for a few weeks after surgery but that went away. 4. My new found energy has changed my life!

letting my dog in bed with me.

I have a full size labradoodle who spent every moment possible in bed with me! He lays right up next to me - just another kid as far as I am concerned! He did happen to be groomed 3 days before my surgery and he does not shed. I just can't see the infection worry unless you were uncovering your incisions and purposefully expose them to unsanitary conditions.
  19. My kids are 9& 6. I was upfront and honest with them from the moment that I decided to have this surgery (as Dean said in an age appropriate way). We discussed ahead of time why I was doing this and what would happen afterwards and the effects it would have on us as a family. I tell my children everyday how much I love them so the day of surgery was no different for us. Part of my reasoning for talking with them through this whole process was that I wanted them to be able to ask as many questions and feel as comfortable as they could with my decision. All of our children are different and we all have different relationships. However, I think it is safe to say that we all love and adore our children and shouldn't insult oneanother with thoughts that because we deal differently with our families that one parent loves theirs kids more than another.

    Protein shakes

Just keep trying different types of protein shakes. I finally settled on EAS Advantedge Carb Control. I mix mine with decaf coffee, frozen fruit, watered down with cinnamon and ice, torani sugar free syrups. You just have to keep trying. And it will get much easier as time goes on and you can consume a little more at 1 time.

5wks PO, and YES I regret

I was really tired until about 2 months out. I also couldn't stand water so my doctor and NUT gave me permission to drink powerade zero - total life saver! Also try to mix up your protein drinks to help break up the monotony of drinking them. I like to add decaf coffee to or blend them with frozen fruit. You will get through this and it will be way worth it.

    Stalls

I am currently in a stall - 4 weeks. I thought that I had broken it but that was just a fluke. Just trying to be patient! BTW...I was sleeved 9/24/12 and am down 45 lbs.

    Work Rumors..... Ahhhhh

I didn't tell everyone before I left but I did as soon as I got back to work. For me personally if I was just up front than it wasn't a secret so its not very fun to gossip about.

    Coffee lovers...

I have had coffee everyday starting 4 weeks out. As long as you are still drinking plenty of other fluids throughout the day. Also, instead of creamer add your favorite protein shake into it!
