  1. That's good advice and thanks for the kind words. I think I will start getting on the scale just once a week. It may be difficult to resist the temptation to hop up on it every morning.
  2. Since surgery I have averaged a 1lb loss every day. Today I was up nearly 1lb and now I feel so discouraged. Maybe my expectations are too high, I was so enjoying my progress up till now and not so much today.
  3. Wow, I can't believe it's over. All the anticipation and preparation and I couldn't be more satisfied that I made this move. Except for a few uncomfortable moments during my one night in the hospital, everything has gone amazingly well. Today I didn't need any pain meds for the first time, so I was able to actually drive myself to my own home. It's a bit of a challenge getting down the one ounce of fluids every 15 minutes but I'm coming along. Those pesky little gas pains are not fun but is getting much better. My poor dog probably doesn't understand why I can't play with him so much right now but he will be ok. :-)
  4. Well, I made it through my surgery yesterday without any complications. Had a bit of a rough ***ht however, I passed my leak test so this morning I'm on my liquid sips every 15min. Not real comfortable but think I will get through it all ok.
  5. Well, today begins week two of my two week liquid diet. Once I got past the initial 2-3 days its almost like being on cruise control. It hasn't gotten any harder or easier really its just moving along. I thought sitting across the table from other people who were eating would be difficult but it really has not been. I just sit and enjoy what ever I'm drinking or eating (popsicles or jello both sugar free or chicken broth) and enjoy the conversations. Surgery is one week from tomorrow (31st) and can't believe its almost time. I just want to get it done.
  6. Like others have indicated, this journey is defintely not easy especially when it comes to this liquid diet. But it's all good, I've already been taken off 4 pills per day that I had been on for years. I did lose some weight leading up to the diet so I'm sure that helped. We just have to keep focusing on the goal and don't give up, because we are all worth it. One more thing, I never would have thought that sugar free jello and chicken broth could taste so darn good. :-)
  7. I begin my two week liquid diet tomorrow, my surgery date is the 31st. I swear, I want to eat all the way up to midnight.
  8. Just curious, In 17 days I will have my surgery and I had this thought go through my head last night. Has there ever been anyone that has had the Sleeve done and not lost any weight? That would terrible to go through all of this and not lose anything. Yikes...
  9. Thanks for all the input, it's very helpful. Funny thing is, I start my preop diet the day before I actually go to the class where I will get all of the information I need supposedly.
  10. Just curious, I start my preop liguid diet one week from today and wanted to know if it's ok to add a banana or something like that to the blender with the protein shake? It adds a nice taste and consistency but wasn't sure if that would be like cheating.
  11. Well, I'm six days after you on July 31st and can't wait. It's amazing how so many people from different walks of life can come together and share/support eachother because we have this sugery in common. Good luck to you as your journey continues and I'm so looking forward to seeing how we all come through this.:-)
  12. I also have BCBS Federal and I got my approval back in 8 days. It was so fast, I was expecting 30 days since that is what I was originally advised. No problems with them at all.
  13. That was an awesome video. keep them coming and good luck to you as your journey continues.
  14. I got my approval in 8 days and wad so shocked because I had been advised that it would take 30 days. I'm on for July 31st.
  15. You look fantastic. Thanks for sharing your story and I know that it will serve as an inspiration to many to include myself. My surgery is July 31st but it helps so much to see what other people have experienced. Thanks again for sharing with all of us.
  16. I will begin my two weeks of liguid diet on July 16th for my surgery on July 31st. I would like to plan something special for my last meal on July 15th. Any suggestions? I was thinking In-n-out burger but thats just a thought.
  17. It bugs the heck out of me and it just doesn't seem right. The doctors make thousands of dollars off of each patient as it is for the surgery, then they have to stick it to you for a few extra hundred. We should have the right to take any product we want as long as it meets the necessary requirements.
  18. I only found out two days ago that my surgery got approved and will be July 31st, also in Dallas but will be at Forest Park Medical Center. I got so nervous after the call that I started planning my day before in my head. I can only imagine what it will be like when the time gets closer. Good luck to you and have the faith that you will do wonderfully.
  19. It's so cool how people can come together when they share a common interest and support each other. Even total strangers sometimes are more positive than coworkers or friends.
  20. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and encouragement. I will definitely be updating as this journey continues.
  21. After three months of classes and appointments and all of those hoops that you have to jump through, just 8 days after submitting to my insurance for the first time I'm approved. They told me that it would take at least 30 days to hear back so I was ok with that. So I get the phone call yesterday while i was at work from my doctor's office telling me this wonderful news and for some reason I was suddenly nervous and almost shaking. I was so stunned at how quick it came through that the lady calling me had to ask me twice I believe whether I wanted to schedule or not. July 31st is my big day. Omg.
