    sleevers in Chicago southland

I was sleeved on 7/24 in Hobart. The first few days were rough. Once I got the JP out on Monday, I felt great! I am now on day 3 of full liquids, down 14lbs and so glad it's finally done!
  2. I'm getting sleeved on 7/23 at St. mary's Medical Center in Hobart (Healthy 4 Life). Anyone else??

Good to hear! New Directions is the stuff my doctor gave me too for 2 weeks. How does it taste? I have shakes, hot cocoa, pudding and cream of chicken Soup. I can also have crystal light, SF Popsicles and SF Jello in between. I start mine on 7/10. Sent from my iPad using VST

    July Sleevers

Long story but my surgery was changed to the 24th instead of the 23rd. I'm fine with that. I'll be in the hospital from Tuesday to Friday. We are another day closer to July!! Sent from my iPad using VST

    Who Are You?

I am Sally from Indiana. I am 32 and married to love of my life, Mike, since 7/7/07. We Celebrate 5 years in a few weeks. We have no children yet but 3 adorable black cats. They are our kids for now. I am a 4th grade teacher enjoying summer vacation. I am getting sleeved next month. My main reason is to start a family, something we've tried to do for over 4 years. My weight seems to be the only roadblock. I've been able to achieve every goal I've made for myself except losing weight. I wanted to own a house, be married and earn my Master's degree by the time I was 30. Done! I also aspire to be a school principal and am all ready to do so on paper. I truly feel that losing the weight will help me achieve that goal also. My biggest dream is to be a mommy. I have many nieces and nephews whom I adore, particularly my 1 year old niece, Violet, who is also our Goddaughter. I want to be able to have the energy to chase after her all the time. I am thrilled to be taking this step. It's been a long journey and I wish I had done this a few years ago but I know that everything happens in God's time. Good luck to all. I've enjoyed reading your stories and look forward to hearing more. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Thanks For This Specific Forum.

Veronica, Your story sounds a lot like mine. I've been married to the most amazing man for just about 5 years. My weight seems to be the only reason we have never gotten pregnant in all this time so this is my biggest reason for getting sleeved in July. Doc says we need to wait 2 years to get pregnant which will put me at close to 35 if we get pregnant 2 years from now. My husband is already 45 and we both want a baby very badly. I feel very hopeful when I read many of these threads that our dream will come true. Best of luck on your surgery tomorrow! Sent from my iPad using VST

    For The Girls Only

I am 46D now and am looking forward to smaller boobs! Yes, they might be a little saggy then but it's ok. I hope to get pregnant in a couple years and after I'm done having babies, then I will work on the boob lift and tummy tuck! Sent from my iPad using VST
  10. I quit 4/20/12!! Yay! I do miss is sometimes but I've known since Thanksgiving when I began this whole journey that I needed to quit 2 months before surgery and will be tobacco tested at my pre-op appt, which is 7/17. For awhile, in the back of my mind I was thinking I could have one occasionally after surgery but I know in my head this isn't good. Plus now that I'm almost at 2 months since quitting I don't want to break my streak.

    Two Week Pre-Op Diet?

Also I received meal replacements powders that I mix with water from my doctor. There are 42 total... 3x per day for 14 days. I have shakes, pudding and cream soup mixes so hopefully they are palatable! I can also eat sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles and unlimited water and/or crystal light. I think I can hang!
  12. I have a tongue piercing that's nearly 14 years old so I know taking it out a few hours the day of surgery won't be a big deal. But then I've also been thinking-- I'm 32 now and have had this since I was 18. Do I still want it?? Maybe leave it behind with the "old" me?? Still debating and surgery isn't til 7/23 but just thinking maybe I've outgrown it now. We'll see.

    Two Week Pre-Op Diet?

My surgery is July 23rd (Tuesday) and I start my liquid diet 14 days before on 7/10. I will be discharged from the hospital on Friday 7/26. Same day or even 1 day seems too soon!
  14. The more I read the more I'm convinced some of you are living in my head!! I have also been thinking about my "last days" of normal eating and what foods do I want to have one last time? Food funeral is the perfect way to describe it. I am hoping my taste buds change and I won't want the crap that got me where I am now!

    July Sleevers

I am scheduled for 7/23 and can't wait. I was relieved to know I could enjoy 4th of July and my 5 year wedding anniversary on 7/7 before starting my liquid diet on 7/10. I'm joining the July thread and can't wait to share my experience with your ll and hear your stories as well!

    My Story

I'm 32 and from Indiana. I have been married to my best friend and biggest fan for almost 5 years. I am scheduled to have VSG on July 23rd. I began going to my hospital's weight loss program the day after Thanksgiving 2011 and weighed 494. I'm down to 453 and have a final goal weight of 200. I am a teacher on summer vacation so this is the best time for me to do this. My husband and I have tried to get pregnant for 4 years and everything checks with both of us. My weight seems to be the only obstacle. I am ashamed that I have let myself get as big as I have but I know that I will never be this big again. I am hopeful that in a couple years, we'll be able to start the family we've dreamed of. I have started watching the YouTube videos of people's journeys and it's a little daunting but also gives me hope and confidence that this will be one of the best decisions I've made. Aside from high blood pressure I am very lucky to have no other health problems and am all cleared for surgery. I start my liquid diet on July 10th and I am excited to begin this new chapter in my life. I look forward to learning about other experiences and sharing my own along the way.
