1.4lbs is progress! I know it can be frustrating, but just keep at it. I am impatient, but I remind myself that slow, steady progress helps give your body time to adjust, which means less excess skin and a higher likelihood of keeping it off when you're done!

brenty reacted to Carolinacrumb in Do You Eat Back Any Of Your Exercise Calories?
Well there is alot of research that states that eating back your exercise calories keeps your metabolism up and that the key is to have your "net" (food intake-exercise) needs to be at your calorie goal... I am not making this stuff up alot of people do it apparently. I still have a deficit everyday...

Proper nutrition would be a concern using the pattern of eating and taking Vitamins you write about. Vitamins are not properly absorbed if you are not eating a balanced diet every day, as some vitamins are fat soluble, and others Water soluble.

My surgeon tracks fat loss, as well as any muscle loss. We definitely want to loose the fat and not the muscle.

Short term fasting is not harmful if medically supervised, and that it worked for you is a positive. I know that my surgeon would not approve of the diet you followed. Another of the many examples of the differences of instructions a doctor will issue to their patients...

i agree with the above post. my weight loss happens in a quick spurt and then it just stops. (ive just lost about four pounds in about two days.) i try to vary my intake by as much as 300 calories some days... maybe a little more. In fact im never just on a specific number of calories. if i were i would never lose any weight at all. ive bought the book..' the four hour body''.. but havent read it yet. its supposed to be very good.

if you have been eating right for a while and very regular intervals between meals your metabolism has probably been reset a bit. you can intake more calories without your body feeling the need to store them. it is important to get back on track, but i think sometimes when people are in a plateau it is important to increase calories a little cause your body is storing because it thinks it is starving. it is a good sign that you have made a lot of good choices to increase your metabolism. keep up the good work!

I am with you on the crystal light, don't like it!
Mio, lots of flavors, even have ones with caffeine in them, cheapest alternative, usually less that $3 for a bottle, makes 24 servings. Disclaimer, I think the pomegranate flavor is the worst!
Vitamin Water ZERO, lots of flavors, some with caffeine, find it on sale for $1 a bottle and stock up.
And my guilty, back to childhood, hide it from my coworkers when I mix it up in the break room, No Calorie Hawaiian Punch in regular and grape flavor. Found this at the dollar store, 10 servings!

Could you bring up your concerns with the dr. and see what he recommends?

Agreed! But also take into consideration that not all medical doctors study nutrition. The most important thing is that your body is getting everything it needs to function properly.
The thing I struggled with the most for years is that when I was cutting calories, I was getting less Protein, Vitamins, and minerals (among other things). Your body needs fat, too, and often fat-free or low-fat foods add calories to add flavour lost when cutting the fat.
If your body is not getting what it needs to function, your metabolism will slow (burning less calories at rest), you will have less energy (making exercise more difficult), and snacking will become an even greater temptation, as your body tries to get the things it lacks. It's a vicious cycle.
But if all of that is under control and accounted for, just be patient. No matter what method of weight loss is used, most of us hit a wall at one point or another. Talk to your physician, get a second opinion, or ask for a referral to a dietician for assistance with your meal planning. But my guess is that your progress has just slowed, and you just need to keep up your patience and determination and you'll get there in time.

Definitely! I don't sleep very well if I eat that close to bedtime. And your body tends to store that as fat since it doesn't need the energy while you sleep.< /p>
On the other hand, a Protein snack when you get home and then a small portion of a side dish could be light enough and allow you to still 'have dinner' with your family.

I just make cheese or pepperoni pizza on a whole wheat wrap, 5 mins under the broiler and its perfect, and a bonus is that my kids even love it.

I really haven't had pizza since being banded, although I am not purposefully avoiding it. I am fine with most foods as far as eating goes (no cheap or fried doughy breads), so I would imagine I could eat thin crust pizza...
My nutritionist is of the idea that there are no "bad" foods, just foods to consume in moderation vs ones you should eat all of the time.

I use the whole wheat pita bread and make my own homemade pizza; I add pizza sauce, lots of cheese and topings. I cook them for about 12 minutes so the crust is very crisp. Good Luck
