Walked 1.75 miles today with my daughter. There was lots of inclines on the path. My daughter commented after just a short ways that I WAS NOT huffing & puffing like I did prior to VSG!! great NSV!

I love having sugar free flavored syrups to add to my Protein shakes! They really help make them taste better. (my fav: vanilla Protein powder, PB2, almond milk, banana SF Syrup, some ice - yummy!).
I also am curious where you ordered from. My local health food store has a somewhat limited variety & I am thinking about ordering more! Thanks!

You're six weeks post op already? If that 's correct, then you can start with any type of exercise you like. I know, most of us didn't like any exercise before, so my recommendation is to start with walking. Walk more today than you did yesterday. Try walking from your door to the end of the driveway, or to the house next door. Add a little bit more each day, one house, two houses, three houses until you're walking around the block. Add a little more each day. Start today lifting some small weights. I started out with 2 pound weights, doing 10 reps each of a few basic arm exercises: bicep curls, tricep kick backs, front arm raises and skull crushers (hold your arms straight above your head with the weight in your hand, lower and raise your arm to complete one rep).
I couldn't walk from my front door to my car without being out of breath pre-op and I literally started out walking up and down my hallway, then around my apartment building. Now, 15 months later, I do 45 minutes on the elliptical at least 3 days a week. I still life weights and I'm "only" up to 10 pound weights, but I have a full routine I do several times a week. I have bicep, triceps, thigh, and stomach muscles that are VISIBLE. A little at a time adds up quickly.
    Good luck!

While I was going thru my 3 month supervised diet I had gone on vacation to of all place Vegas. So when I got back, my friends were asking how my weigh in went and I said happily that I actually lost 2 pounds and I was so shocked. Well Miss size 2 piece of sh*t bounces over to announce that she weighed herself that morning and she weighed 110 pounds. I got right in her face and said 'keep telling the fat girl how skinny you are, go ahead'. She said "I didnt mean it like that". Really, then how did she mean it? I was bent. But I wasnt going to just let it go because it wasnt the first time she had made a comment. She only makes them when our male co-workers are around.
There are always going to be those girls around that have never ever had a weight issue in thier life and have no idea the struggle physically and mentally we go through or have gone through. They might be skinny but they are mean and shallow, we will be skinny and are and always will be fabulous!

I don't know what your problem is. I was sincerely trying to help, not scold you. I asked some legitimate questions. I know you know yourself, but a lot of things change after surgery. One of those things is the feedback you get from your digestive system over things like hunger, acid reflux and satiety. Good luck.

I'm not going to lie to you, attempting this more than once might kill me. But I will give it a try. I'm way out of shape, so I'm trying to build up my endurance and strength right now.
Good news though, my fiance said he can put my DVDs on the Apple TV so I can still use them. I brought Slim in 6 and a bellydance DVD. So I'll have something to do during the day, lol.

Wow, is that how you have interpreted my post? Or my posts on other threads?
My intent on this board is two-fold. To learn other people's experiences and to share mine. Nothing more.
I don't want anyone to turn into a health nut or go out and run a 5K, if they don't want to. I don't want you to be like me. I want everyone, whether pre or post sleeve, to have the best information they can to fulfill their goals. Some people are looking to only cut back on the quantity of food they eat, as is evidenced by the post asking, "I'm three days post-op, what can I order at Dairy Queen?" While that did make me go, "WOW", it is their choice and their own personal goals. That is fine. Other people are looking to change their lives completely. That is also their choice. I try to share my experience and answer whatever questions are posted honestly as I can. Have I avoided judging people on here? I'd like to say, "No", but alas, I know I, too, have been guilty. I'm human. I am trying to improve myself.
But, look at the threads. Not just the ones posted in the past day or week. The OP says they have read ALL the threads (tongue in cheek, I know) in pre- and post-, which would encompass thousands of threads. If even 10% were read, you would see the common topic of people sliming, throwing up, in terrible pain.
What would you suggest to them?
"Come on! You're 3 weeks post op. I could eat meatballs by then ... what's your problem?"
Real people are having real problems on here. Real people are researching the sleeve and using this site as a reference. I don't think it is responsible forum membership to give the impression that you don't have to follow your Drs guidelines. No matter what your goals are.
That is the jist of I interpret from this thread. Now, just know, the OP has edited his posts and the content has changed, but I am not able to follow each of those edits.
BTW, I define a troll as someone who come on a forum and kicks the hornets nest for no other reason that to create a buzz. That may easily apply to me as I do seem to attract controversy at times. But it is funny, I really don't think I am THAT controversial by suggesting you actually follow your Drs guidelines and call out someone who tells people not to worry about them ...
    Curious ...

Or what about people who have severe (non weight) related issues like auto-immune diseases? What about....the list is endless. We really aren't two groups as if we are divided down the middle. At least I hope not!
I really wasn't going to post as i was enjoying just reading all the silly going ons. But, this one got me. I thought the whole idea of this forum was accepting each others individuality?
As for the OP? I put his post down as excitement. He's only 2 weeks out, people! Remember the ups and downs and aha moments your first month? True, I think it was rather irresponsible to spout off as he did as if it were all facts, but did you guys catch that he's a 'motivational speaker?' I'll keep my personal feelings out of that profession, but most are paid to speak as if what they say is the honest to God only way to be. (I say most because there are SOME good motivational speakers out there. Opps, my opinion got in the way.)
I just hope that newbies follow their doc's orders because your doctor is the one who is helping you with your care. If he doesn't want you to have that dorito, don't have it!
About Obsessing? If someone is so obsessive about food post surgery that they are going agnst their docs orders, then if they don't get help for their eating disorder (which led us all to this surgery to begin with) then down the road they will more than likely have a harder time. So to me, it's sad that the OP was celebrating that it's ok to disobey their personal docs orders.
Again, I rarely join these debates, but this one bugs me on too many levels to be quiet.

I also can't imagine a Dr telling his sleeve patients its OK to be eating a meatball within 2 weeks of having surgery. Sorry, but I think I am calling BS on this. I'm not just talking from my personal experience. I tried eating eating ground turkey meatball 1 month post-op ... no way. Too painful. 2 months post-op, same thing. I believe it was at 3 months I could handle it, and tried a ground beef one and it, too was painful. 6 months before eating beef was OK for me.
At our nutrition seminar, our NUT told the story of a man who had a steak 1 week post-op and died. I don't think she was making the story up to put the fear in us and after having been there, done that, I could see how having a steak post-op would have killed me.
I don't think I am the norm, nor was I atypical, but I just can't fathom ANY Dr suggesting the kinds of things you are saying. Now, if he is just directing these things at you, that is something else altogether. To suggest that others should throw caution to the wind and do it too is just irresponsible. If this is what you are suggesting, then I gotta mark you as a troll and not a true VSG recipient who wants to come on a WLS board and f*ck with a bunch of people's heads.
Maybe I'm in left field, here, but ...

Self pay. I feel great!!! I had absolutely no nausea and very minimal pain (just the one incision where they pull the stomach out). Just moved up to full liquids. Protein Shake no problems, split pea Soup -too heavy. Down 30# so far! :-)

Though the staples are placed on the outside of the stomach they are still have some surface area on the inside. As to the the stomach acid dissolving them, this is why they are titanium. If the only concern was sterility, the could be made much less expensively out of surgical stainlesss steel. And as far as the sutures go, they do dissolve & get broken down by the body. They are put in place as a redundancy to ensure there is no leakage.
Now as to the reason we are placed on liquid diets after surgery. That is primarily because our stomachs are numb & swollen for a period of time and we can more easily harm ourselves by unwittingly overeating our capacity. Not to mention that our capacity for food is so small at that point, the only real way to get any volume at all is through liquids.
The primary concern with the staple line is small hard items like seeds, popcorn husks, & such. These should be avoided for the first 6 weeks as they can lodge in the staple line & yes, there are documented cases of these irritants having to be removed manually.

I had my surgery 9/25 too! I am on clear liquids until Thursday, 2 weeks of full liquids, then soft/ pureed for another week. Fortunately, I am doing great getting enough in and have not had any problems swallowing my drinks! I have one sore incision that is today so much better. BUT, head hunger has ahold of me and it is really hard. Had to go to the grocery store today - boy, EVERYTHING looked & smelled yummy!! Went straight home to have my broth & Popsicle - disaster averted!! But there are some Macho Doritos that I would SO love to lick!!! I am concentrating on just my Fluid intake this week & will start on my Protein at the next stage.

I call these times when you have an inner child that comes to the forefront due to being mentally, emotionally or physically exhausted. You also have an inner parent who is usually in charge. When I want to cheat it is like a kid wanting to do whatever she wants to do and damn the consequences, or whine and complain about anything and everything. My adult self has to get my kid self in line. ...wow....now that I type that out I sound like a nut case.

Someone once told me that you lose the "surface" fat, you stall while the next layer of fat rises to the surface, you lose that layer of fat, etc., etc. It's a cycle. In my head, a stall is your body prepping for the next weight loss cycle so it is not as discouraging (speaking as one who has not stalled yet - I may sing a different tune then!). The longer the stall, the more deeper fat reserves are rising. Gonna put head games to good use!

I never jogged before. Before surgery I was 401. I didn't start jogging (if you wanna call it that) till I was about 305 if I can remember right. That was about 2 months ago. Now I'm 275 and really starting to like it. I'm doing the C25K....I'm in week 5 and just now getting to the point that I can carry on a conversation while I jog. My breathing is finally undercontrol. I'm not having any pain and I'm not out of breath when it's time to walk. I walk as briskly as I can, I don't speed up much when I start to jog, but it is a jog.
I did some research on shoes. The best running shoes for overweight overpronators (and alot of overweight people are overpronators) is the Brooks Beast. I bought 2 pair and love love love them. I went to the store to buy some "everyday" sneakers, and I hated every pair I tried on because I'm already spoiled by how the Brooks feel. That's why I bought the second pair.
I've been very wary of injury. I do not want a setback. I keep my form in good order and I take short strides, that's why I jog so slow. When I get lighter I'll worry about speeding up. Right now I'm doing 2-1/4 miles a day following the C25K plan. I feel like I could easily go another mile, in fact I usually do some 30 second windsprints during the cooldown.
