trisket got a reaction from naenaern777 in Pregnancy Inspiration!
I was banded June of 2012. I got banned because I had 8 failed treatments and would have to do ivf next. I have PCOS and never ovulated. After my band I started walking, then jogging, then running. I also took classes at my local gym (loved zumba). Then I discovered crossfit and became addicted. It motivated me to want to work out every day, some days twice a day. My scale numbers didn't go down as fast but my body was shrinking and looking fit.
I had told my husband if we weren't pregnant by this summer than we were going to do ivf. I wanted to be pregnant by 30. Last September I remember crying because it was my birthday and I still wasn't a mother. Little did I know I was pregnant at the time :-) I just gave birth to my son on June 13th. No treatments needed!
When I got pregnant I was 194 (shortly after my profile pic was taken). I wanted to gain no more than 30lbs but I ended up gaining 40. I was hard at first but I know how hard I worked and sweated my butt of to lose the weight that I have no doubts I will lose it again. Plus I have already registered for a 15 mile obstacle course in November I have to train for and I'm counting down the days until I get to return to crossfit (July 29th)! In the the weeks since having my son in down to 211 so only 16lbs left. :-)
I did crossfit my entire pregnancy including my due date. I did quit running because little man sat so low. I had a great pregnancy and delivery and I know it is because I was healthy. I wouldn't change it for the world. I had to take the time to take care of me first.
Now the plan is to take the next year to enjoy my son and get back to training then at the end of next summer I want to try and get pregnant again.
    Hope this helps!

    I named my gurgling "mertyl"
Taking a little Fluid out helped but it still gets crazy with citrus and very acidic

trisket got a reaction from cfmama in Crossfit and WLS - considering WLS
I didn't start crossfit until after my band so I may not be too helpful but I found I had to make myself increase running see more of a difference on the scale. Which helped in my wods too! My body comp had changed the whole so I was looking leaner and more fit but running really helped on the scale.
Also I had to ignore my docs calorie limits of 1500 because that was sending my body into starvation mode and turning my muscle to fat. I ate more Protein, fruit, veggies etc. My prs did go down as I lost weight but with time and good form they started creeping back up!
Now I'm 8 months pregnant and still cf 3 to 4 days a week. Can't wait to get back on track after baby!

I eat all day. I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast (and breakfast sausage or fruit) at 545, lunch at 1045 (I'm a teacher), a snack when my class goes to pe at 1215 (or finish lunch), then a sweet potato or fruit after school at around 330. I take a Protein shake right after my workout then eat dinner when I get home.

trisket got a reaction from aviva1979 in Crossfit? Anyone?
I'm in between games so I can type a little bit. I was so scared to start crossfit. I had been working out a lot at a gym and I asked the guy that taught cf if they had a crossfit for dummies! He said it was all for dummies! I ended up trying another crossfit box in my town because the price was right and a parent at my school recommended it. I was scared to death. When you start a good coach will modify for you and usually you only do half the workout or so depending on what it is. I had my band done in late June and I was 276. My CF coach takes measurements every month and I was 230 for my January measurements. I am now 207 but as much as I have been loosing fat I know I have been gaining muscle. I did a body fat test where they submerged you in Water and I came out to be 23.9% body fat which just floored me! I was so sure it was going to be more but I have 156 lbs of lean mass (muscles, organs, bones, etc.) and only 49 lbs of fat on my body. Still quite a bit of fat but I am considered in a "average" range. If I loose 9 more pounds of fat then I will be in the "athletic" range! When I started I was doing 2 days a week for the 1st month, 3 days for the 2nd month, and now I go 5-7 days a week. Sometimes I do the workout twice a day. I am usually sore and exhausted but I am in the best shape of my life. I love stalking my coaches' page to see what my workout tomorrow will be. Youtube was my best friend when I first started because I would look up the workout then go see a video of what in the world that meant! It won't take you long to get the crossfit lingo down. If you would have told me a few months ago I would be able to do a freaking handstand I would have said you were crazy but that is just one skill I have been able to accomplish!

No two people are identical in energy needs. We all must learn and navigate our individual energy balance. Sure we all have micro issues, however, the band does not alter the physics of the macro issue which is calories in Vs calories out... Eat too much and you won't lose or worse gain - eat too little and you'll crash your metabolism and get the same result...

I have been working up to running non stop and I was able to do it! I had actually ran 3 miles straight at the gym a few days prior so I KNEW I had no excuse not to do it at this race. Prior to this I had been stopping at 1 mile but I knew that was my brain and not my body stopping me. I have another 5k this weekend and I can't wait to run that one too. By no means is this fast running but it is a start and I feel stronger and faster every week. If I can do this now it is exciting to imagine what I will be able to do with 50 more lbs off me!
Sorry I just wanted to share this NSV.

Keep up the cardio at the gym. It helps build endurance! Remember your mind is going to tell you to quit before your body does. Also try and find some place you like to run. I hate the treadmill and I don't even like running around my neighborhood. My gym has 3 tracks:1 inside (15 laps = a mile), small outside (5laps=1mile), and large outside (1lap= 1.05 miles). I find I like the inside track for my 1 mile warmup runs. I try to run a mile before the cardio classes I take. I have done 3 miles on the small track once but it isn't my favorite place for a long run. My favorite place is the outside track. It wraps around my gym and the hospital nextdoor. I just love running there! Also make sure to not over do it. When I first started couch to 5k I ran almost every day and developed tendinitis in my hips. THAT SUCKED! I ended up quitting running and gaining 30lbs during that school year. (I just became generally lazy). That was the summer before my lapband. I started back up this summer and it was the best decision! I invested in some great running shoes because bad shoes can cause all kinds of hip/back problems. My new ones came from a running store where they put me on a treadmill and recoreded my step while I was running. I was turrning my ancles in so they fitted me with a show that gave more support in the inside sole. They also put me in shoes a size bigger than I wear because they say your feet swell when you run. I am in love with my new shoes! After my 6 mile run a few weeks ago I was only a little sore the next day. I weight 230 so I would say that is pretty good!!
Also www.dailymile.com is very motivating for me!! I still suck at logging my food but I log all my workouts on here. It makes me what to do better and go farther.
