dliteful! got a reaction from Angelizz10 in Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......
Same thing happened to me last weekend. Had a .25 fill on Thursday, did liquids Friday, Soft mushies on Saturday. Went for scrambled eggsand broccoli (bad decision) for Breakfast instead of my usual Protein shake and OH NO....that started the day. I irritated my band enough that I couldn't keep anything but liquids down at all on Saturday. Sunday was better, have been fine ever since. Even though it wasn't the reason this past weekend, my hubby and I went hiking a few weeks ago in the mountains (we live at about 4,000 ft and hiked at about 10,000 ft and I couldn't eat at all. Could feel my band get tighter even without eating when we were up at that altitude.
Pretty wild - who woulda thought?

dliteful! got a reaction from JJ&E in Addicted To Food & Big Portions
I was told by my psychologist that there is such a thing as "addiction transfer" so it's something to look out for. Have your support system be aware of that as a slim possibility, and if it looks like you're headed that way, regroup! I've only been banded for 6 weeks, and I was a compulsive overeater. I do not feel like that anymore - first of all, the band won't let me. It reminds me right away if I'm overdoing it. Sometimes I still have the urge to just eat more (and I do still put too much on my plate), but I know the downside and I stop. With time, that addiction does go away! The trick is to replace it with healthy things - walking, something creative, meditation, snuggling with your honey, music, or whatever fills your spirit besides food or other addictions.
You're going to do great! I'm excited for you and can't wait to hear how things go!!!

dliteful! got a reaction from Cindy Amato Dashko in Lower Left-Side Abdomen Pain 2 Weeks Post-Op
    Hi everyone,
Since surgery, I've had this achey, weird pain on my lower left side, below the belly button and off to the left. It feels like I ran too far and got a side "stitch" - does anyone know what I'm talking about or maybe know what's causing this?
It's nothing serious I'm sure but is pretty uncomfortable sometimes. Thanks D

I don't always eat the best, but I exercise pretty consistantly and what really really helps me is logging my food and exercise. I know exactly (close) what I eat in a day and burn for calories. (i use My Fittness Pal but there are lots of different ones) It really helps keep me be accountable. I try to stick to 1200 calories. I really don't eat anything without knowing how many calories/protien are in it. If I eat crap I try to work it in to my daily 1200 calories. This really really helps me. Makes you think twice about what you are eating.
    Good Luck
Ha - also sometimes when I eat something "bad" I know an extra 12 minutes on the elliptical will burn 200 calories! (ya gotta do what ya gotta do!)

My surgery is tomorrow morning and I cannot wait! This liquid pre-op diet sucks! I am so hungry! I'm hoping and praying that I will be like many of you that are not hungry after surgery. Right now, I could eat a freakin cow! Good luck to you all, and see you on the other side!

Hi gang, I'm just 2 days post-op and am finding that I can't handle much liquid either - maybe half a cup of Protein shake at a time. I do sip Water throughout the day, not sure how many oz I'm taking in but doing my best to stay hydrated. So far, no post-surgery diarrhea (on the three day liquid diet pre-surgery, it was awful!). I think the point is that everyone's body is going to handle this differently, and we have to be very in tune and listen to what our own system is telling us. Knowing we have to stay hydrated and not stretch out the pouch, this should be our first priority. Congrats on already losing 13 pounds! I'm not getting on the scale for a while, I feel bloated and don't want to be discouraged.
GREAT job and thanks everyone for sharing! D

dliteful! got a reaction from fericito in I'm New, Getting My Band Tomorrow, June 8!
Hey everyone, thanks for the well wishes. The procedure went perfectly yesterday, and I feel so good. I really expected my pain to be worse, but it's not that bad. Very little problem with gas buildup (yay for Gas X strips and liquid pain meds). I've been up and around, happily walking around my house and loving on my family. Had my first "real" food in 5 days - a cup of Protein shake. Tasted so good and I was full super fast.
Anyway, for those of you starting the journey, I wish you all the best and if I can answer any questions please let me know! For those of you already banded who offered your support, thank you and bless you! Keep up the great work. I'm proud to be a "fellow bandster!"

I've just started LitenEasy which is a home delivered 1200 calorie diet. I'm doing it not to lose weight but just to get back into some good habits. I've been skipping meals eating rubbish, you name it. I can easily eat my way through 1800 calories a day or so, and have been complaining that my band gives me no restriction. I need to eat a fair amount of wholegrain foods - breads and cereals - full of soluble fibre to manage my digestive system after bowel surgery and I have definitely not been doing that.
WELL!! Being fed a balanced diet makes me realise I have PLENTY of restriction. I cant finish 1200 calories worth of bread, Protein, fruits and vegetables. Breakfast is usually Cereal, fruit and toast/spread. I have to break it up, eat some at home and ahve the toast at work. Morning tea is fruit. lunch is something hot or a sandwich or salad, and dinner is protein/veg/carb. I feel like I am eating all day.
I still get the munchies for something sweet and carby in the afternoon, hungry or not. THat's OK, I'm maintaining, I can have a bikkie with my cuppa if I want to. But I need to limit it, once I start on those foods, its hard to stop.
Just goes to show how easy it is to fall into the slider food habit - not necessarily UNhealthy sliders, but too much yogurt, Soup, etc. The foods I choose were making a difference each day in the realm of 500 calories! For me, that's been the difference between maintaining or gaining impercetibly - every couple of months a kilogram appears outta nowhere.
    lesson learned!
