**WARNING*** DONT DRINK PLAIN Water ONLY. some of you know ive been having dizzy spells over the past few months. been to the ER where they told me nothing was wrong and sent me home. well a week later i was dizzy again, yesterday got really bad i had to leave work and go back to the dr. i guess it depends on who the dr is because this dr not only read my labs from the ER, but told me it popped up clearly my potassium levels are very low hummmmmmmmm the ER dr just sent me on my way, and the cold part is he didnt even send the results to my primary dr, member services will be contacted. so what i put together after my visit is 1. my bp meds is a water pill. 2. i drink more than a gallon of water daily, **note** i only drink water occasionally coffee or tea , but only plain water, so this morning god spoke to me, yes god for the believers. said drink some gatorade along with the potassium pills i was prescribed. so i am on my way to the store now to get some and add it to my water intake. be careful dont just drink plain water especially if you take bp meds.

There is still studies on the sleeve, I just want to share with all of the new sleevers and those who are about to be sleeve.
I am a slow loser, I have not lost any weight in over 6 months, the weight loss stopped at 6 months, I don’t think anyone stalled for this long. Right now the gastric sleeve is still under the scope and mimicking the bypass. I am writing this to let you know this is not at all easy at least it wasn’t for ME. I am going to share a few pointers that I have learned on this post op journey. Now I am not saying this is you, but there just might be someone that is going through the slow loss as well and don’t understand why.
The sleeve is a tool, you still have to work hard to get to goal

Take my advice, don’t rush to eat solid food, stay on liquid, and soft for as long as you can.

Stay away from coffee, I didn’t realize the importance until I did a detox and tried to drink coffee afterwards, the pain, that tells me what it is doing to my tummy.

Did I mention don’t rush to eat whole food. Lol stay in that frame of mind, eating lightly

Don’t let the fullness fool you, meaning you can really pack on calories even with the new tummy.

Once you are post op from day one stay away from sweets, all sweets, I thought dark chocolate was ok, NOT OK.

Did I mention don’t get comfortable with the sleeve

Don’t compare yourself to others, you are designed the way you are.

Eat high dense foods, full longer. I was eating light Snacks, eating the wrong foods

***NOTE*** I AM NOT GIVING ADVICE, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
I recently did a 5 day detox and the scale is moving again, sometimes you have to cleanse to get rid of toxins so the scale can move. So far so good. I will let you know

    Dear September Sleevers:
I feel like I'm here for a confession..lol. To recap, (lol), I was sleeved on Sept. 17, 2012. I started at 245lbs. and am down to 178lbs....from a size 16/18 to a size 8/10/12 (depending on the pants) lol. So, I am currently home post-op from a gallbladder removal surgery due to gallstones. Apparently, gallstones are a common side effect for people that lose a lot of weight rapidly. =( .. The excruciating pain began a little over two months ago. It came like spells taking over my upper abdomen and upper back and making it really hard for me to breathe in addition to elevating my body temperature, getting sweaty and nauseous. =( So, finally after 2 hospital visits and no answers and an outpatient procedure of removing an ovarian cyst (that doctors thought was causing the pain), on my 3rd hospital ER visit, an ultrasound was conducted and it revealed gallstones. =( So, other than being sore, I'm looking forward to not havin anymore ridiculously unnecessary pain. ......Lol. Yeaaaa riiiigght, I still have this sleeve. A blessing and a curse. ...I have been fluctuating between 175lbs and 183lbs for the past 3 months or so. ...THIS ISH IS EFFIN DIFFICULT.
Here's my laundry list of complaints:
    1. I love food but food doesn't love me.
    2. I get full ridiculously quick when I sit down to have a meal, but somehow Snacks go down very easily.
    3. I can start eating a meal....get full, nauseous, unable to breathe regularly....but then wait 10-20 minutes and am able to get the rest down little by little, including bread. Smh. (By the way, "little-by-little" doesn't mean an hour, it's more like an additional 10-20 minutes. ....makes you wonder.
    4. Having to explain to people why I eat so little when I'm clearly still overweight. Lol.
    5. Not liking to exercise... No, scratch that, hating exercise at times, because while my body has changed, my mind is still that of a cheese, chocolate, bread, bacon and candy loving chubby kid at mind and heart. Lol.
What the hell am I to do?...
The OR nurse at my last gallbladder removal procedure asked me if I was happy with my sleeve... I answered, sometimes.
    =/

I totally understand that and I, like most of us here, have been there.
My biggest tool for overcoming that is pretty simple, and with the tool the sleeve is, maybe it will be more effective long term.
I like to write down all the reasons I want and need to lose weight. I write down every way my life will be better for myself and for my family when I am healthier both physically and emotionally. I buy everything I need for the the time period I am aiming for and then I fill my schedule from morning till night so I have NO TIME to "cheat". Every time I am tempted to, I check my list, look at pictures of my kids and reflect on what I am missing out on by being so unhealthy.
Find YOUR motivation and focus on it. You've been through this surgery. You know that in the grand scheme of things, five days is nothing. You can do ANYTHING for five days and you are doing this FOR YOU.
What day are you going to start? Tomorrow??

So I think I might have broke out of my stall. Down .2 lbs from doc appointment yesterday. Lost the two lbs I gained while doing steroids already. So this is down from my lowest weight before. I'm not going to say I have for sure broke the stall, but my fingers are crossed that I did.

NGM we can do this. It may take us longer than others but we can definitely reach our goals I've come to the realization that I probably wont reach goal until the 2 year mark. Maybe I'm meant to lose the first 50 pounds in the first year and then the other 50 pounds in the next year. I never would of imagined still being obese almost a year after surgery but I try to view it as I've NEVER been able to lose 55 pounds on my own, ever. It will definitely take longer and the weight wont come off as quickly as it did soon after surgery but we still have the tool

jeepers, girl i feel your pain. my problem at work is the Cookies, i work for a hotel and the airlines bring Cookies almost every day, i bring all of my food and Snacks but i will eat at least two cookies and if im stressed i will eat more. thats where my sugar comes in. i also cant buy the 100 cal Snacks i will eat them all if they are in my house. i was losing really good and when i hit the 6 month mark it stopped and slowed. i think its mental because my dr told me the average lose 60lbs in 6 months and at that time i only lost 53lbs. but look at my before and after pics. but she made me feel like a loser, and coming back on here seeing other who lost that and more in 6 months, sent me into depression and the i dont give a you know what attitude.
I started working out. 6 days a week 45 mins a day kickboxing and i gained 8 lbs and lost no inches, clothes where tighter.
i am at the point of not knowing what to do. i eat right for the most part. i eat around 1200 cals a day and if i mess up it will go up to 1700, it takes 3500cals to gain a lb. man i just dont know. but i have noticed the scale going back down this week. i lost 5 lbs of the 8 lbs i gained. i eat like every 2 hrs or less, if i am hungry like hunger pains i eat small meals. THIS SUCKS. i didnt get the surgery to worry about dieting, i got it so i can stop dieting.

Not sure if I posted in this thread but I'm definitely a slow loser by every definition. I will be 1 yr post op Oct. 2nd and have lost 55 pounds. Weight loss really slowed down after the 6 month mark and I stalled for about 3-4 months, probably self induced because I wasn't counting cals and probably was eating too much or at maintenance level. Well I've been back on plan and counting cals with MFP for the past month and have managed to lose the 4 pounds that I gained while stalled. I'm mentally back in the game and ready to start losing again and get this weight off. I think during the stall I took a mental break and that's probably what I needed and thankfully I did maintain during that time. I have about 50 pounds to goal and I so can't wait to finally break into onderland. I've been hovering slightly above it for the past 4 months.
