  1. I have been taking Bariatric Advantage Protein bars and shakes for my pre-op diet and because of all the stomach issues I have been having my NUT recommended a dairy-free version. Does anyone have a soy protein they can recommend??? Thank you!
  2. I sat on a glass coffee table while on a vacation with my dad's family 7 or 8 years ago and it shattered. They still remind me about "the year your broke the table"....I don't need to be reminded, it was mortifying!
  3. I cannot wait for that to happen to me! Congrats!
  4. Oh my gosh, I am 12 days out from my surgery and because I have a BMI of 49.6 I have been on a three week pre-op diet. Let me just tell you that the first 4 days I was MISERABLE!!! I had my sleep study on night 3 of my pre-op diet and I had a panic attack and left sobbing. I have been so emotional and just feeling really sorry for myself. The good news? I am now on day 9 of my pre-op diet and I feel sooooo much better. I have lost 8 pounds including a little cheating on the 4th of July. I really think the pre-op diet is a little overboard, but I am determined to make myself sucessful. Absolutely hang in there, we can do this!!! It really isn't easy, it is much harder than I thought. I am learning alot about myself. It really is proving to be a mental battle. Just think how happy we'll be once we are post-surgery and sucessful? I keep telling myself "I can handle a few weeks of discomfort in order to be healthy for a lifetime!" HANG IN THERE!!!
  5. 12 days for me.....I don't know about you, but every minute I am awake I am thinking "sleeve." Work helps to keep me distracted, but I am sure my husband is DONE talking about it. Getting nervous!
  6. I am only on pre-op and I've been moody.....my poor husband, what is going to happen with post-op? Oh no!
  7. I am looking for someone to text/email/chat with who is in Southern California. My surgery date is July 19th!
  8. Get a neti pot. It is a nasal rinse that is much like the other two above are talking about. It doesn't hurt at all and it comes with little packets you dissolve in room temperature water.
  9. I just ordered more bars online at https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog. Congrats on your new date! It's really happening!!!
  10. So, yesterday was my first major test since starting my pre-op diet and I failed. I waited too long in between meals and when everyone sat down to dinner I helped myself to three chicken tacos. I am supposed to be on shakes, bars, and veggies. My nutritionist has allowed me to have a chicken breast here and there, but the tacos were completely overboard! To make matters worse I was mentally flogging myself so much that I got home from the in-laws and devored 3 spoons of Peanut Butter while I was feeling sorry for myself. I am most worried about sabatoge post surgery. I know that when life becomes overwhelming, I eat. What can I work on in the next two weeks to mentally prepare myself? I will no longer have the ability to use food as my comfort and I am really worried. For the vets, what are your coping mechanisms? How do you overcome head hunger when you know you really aren't hungry or shouldn't cave into eating?
  11. I just call my board "kick the carbs".....I am also keeping it confidential until I feel comfortable!
  12. Yikes, I hope you feel better soon!
  13. Was your surgery laparoscopic? All the pain you are having is making me nervous!
  14. My doctor has required we take the bariactric advantage shakes pre and post op. They really aren't too horrible. They are packed with protein and have low carbs.
  15. Poor guy, he is so young, but I truly believe that we are only given as much as we can handle. Children are so resilent. He will be so much happier to have you around and healthy for a lifetime!
  16. I just want to tell you that we are here to support you, I can't say that I've been through your situtaion, but I can't imagine it being easy. I am sure your choice of surgery is bringing up fears in your mom as well as little brother. I would just advise to communicate and involve them in the process as much as possible. I am extremely close with my mom and invited her to a pre-op appointment, I even sat through the orientation program again so she could feel as at ease as I am. Best of luck! I am sure once you come through the other side of this process they will be happy since you'll live alot longer with the surgery than without.
  17. Great idea the gummy vits. I am currently taking the chewable multi-Vitamin per my NUT's request. I gag it down twice a day. Thank you for the tip!
  18. Last night was my sleep study. Long story short I had a panic attack. After trying three different masks and a very frustrated technician I lost it. I started sobbing and he couldn't get those wires off of my body fast enough. I am mortified that I couldn't make myself pull it together long enough, but three hours seemed like the end of the world. I was extremely claustrophobic. What can I do? I absolutely cannot wear the CPAP. I am terrified that this will delay my surgery date. Can I pursue natural rememdies?
  19. Love your recipes....I just repinned a bunch. You can follow me on pinterest as Carly Gonzalez. I call the list "kick the carbs" since that is the idea and I haven't told all of my friends of friends about my decision for weight loss surgery. Thanks for the ideas!
  20. I just woke up, in my own bed. I went for the sleep study last night and since it was already determined that I have sleep apnea they gave me the CPAP right away to fall asleep. Long story short, I had a panic attack and couldn't finish the night. They came and changed the machine once or twice to see if I could be a litle more comfortable. Around the third hour my chest kept tightening and I lost it. I am not only embarassed, but I am so fearful that all of the work I have done to prepare for my surgery on July 19th is now un-done. What do I do? I don't want to have my surgery postponed because I couldn't make myself handle that awful machine. Any advice is appreciated!
  21. That's incredible, I am hoping I'll be as sucessful as you have been in just a month! Congratulations.
  22. I am on day 3 of liquid Protein and veggies. I am not going to lie day 1 was miserable, I had a killer migraine and felt like I was literally detoxing from drugs. Good news? Today I feel much more myself. It isn't easy sticking to Liquid Protein and veggies, but I figure I can endure a month of discomfort (pre and post op) in order to change the rest of my life! Everyone I've talked to has nothing but good things to say. Sure it is a HUGE change, but the good news is you can still eat just small portions. I think post surgery will be much easier as far as portion control. Going cold turkey has been so difficult. I can only speak from my experience, but I was terrified to start the liquid diet because I've only failed at diets in the past. The difference this time? I have to succeed. I want a different life and I am not willing to give into food just because it's easy. Good luck, I truly believe we will all be much happier and healthier!
