  1. I am trying to drink Water every 10 minutes, I set a timer and once it buzzes I sip a few times. I think today was the first day I'll reach 64 oz. It is really a full time job getting all of the liquids in! What other liquids have you tried? Congrats!!!
  2. That is awesome! Doesn't it solidify your decision? I definitely had buyers remorse for the first few days, I was in a lot of pain. I have been on the treadmill everyday (since Monday) for about 20-30 minutes. Today was the best day for sure. I'll be back to work on Monday!!! I am getting really sick of the Protein shakes, everything tastes so darn sweet. What else are you trying? I've been setting a timer and every 10 minutes take another few sips, that is the only way I've been able to keep up with the water.....64 oz is ALOT! My surgeon recommended blending up minestroni Soup and sprinkling parmesean on top of it. That was much more exciting then the shakes. I added a little unflavored Protein powder to make the soup better for me. I am excited about this journey! Congratulations!!!
  3. I am officially 6 days post-op and weighed myself for the first time since surgery this morning. I really wanted to wait until I lost most of the swelling. I was in a lot of pain and I didn't want to add depression if I hadn't lost anything yet. Well, I have lost 15 pounds in 6 days! I cannot express how excited I am. I have had a rough few days, but I am feeling so encouraged and ready to take on the world! I am so thankful that there is a procedure like the sleeve that can give me my life back! Praise God!
  4. I absolutely feel your pain. My surgery was 6 days ago and I couldn't tell any of my co-workers yet. I felt like I was weak and a failure, that they would see me as fat and lazy. I was able to talk to all of my family members and friends and surprisingly received a lot of positive support. I can tell you that one week later I know this was the best decision of my life!!! I have lost 15 pounds in the first week and I would have dieted for months to achieve that 15 pounds before surgery. I really believe this is the tool I need to keep myself healthy for the rest of my life. Tell only who you feel comfortable telling. Also, I saw a psychologist who specializing in eating disorders for a year before my surgery. I have alot of issues regarding my emotional overeating and while I am still a work in progress I didn't want to take the step of surgery only to sabatoge myself later! Best of luck on your journey, this process isn't for the weak!!! You can do it!
  5. I had surgery last week and someone recommended biotene a mouth wash/spray that helps with dry mouth. That was a lifesaver since you can't drink for a while after surgery and my mouth was like the desert. I also brought a heating pad and gasx chewables. The chewables were awful and I threw them up, I really think the best medicine to get the gas out is walking, walking, walking. Good Luck! We'll be pulling for you!
  6. I had a very similar experience and left the sleep study because of a panic attack in the middle of the night! I called my surgeon in a panic and she assured me that this happens to a lot of people. I was required to sign a waiver indicating that I had untreated sleep apnea, but that was fine. My surgery was last Thursday, I am 5 days out and it honestly was a fairly painless process. I would tell the anesthesiologist about your condition so they are aware. I would communicate with your doctors, I didn't want to get the CPAP knowing it wouldn't wear it anyway! You'll be fine! Congrats on the next step!
  7. Welcome! We have a SoCal Sleeve Group. I went to a meeting before my surgery to talk to everyone about life after the sleeve. You have a great example in your mom, but it is worth it to do your research and give yourself the peace of mind. Congrats on your journey!
  8. Cheri- How will I be able to tell if the prevacid isn't working? So far I have been heartburn free, but I definitely want to keep a close eye on it. Thank you!
  9. That is amazing! Doing good girl!
  10. I spoke with the doctor on call this morning and he said to empty the prevacid capsul into a ounce of water or protein shake....so far it has helped!
  11. My heartburn is horrible. My doctor prescribed prevacid but not until a week post operative. I am unable to sleep or keep Water down. Can I take Tums (crushed) or Mylanta? Thank you!
  12. Hi Friends! I am having my sleeve procedure tomorrow morning at 10:00am. I am a bundle of nerves and hungry from the clear liquid diet today. My husband took 4 days off of work to stay with me, what a guy! Any last minute advice??? Thank you!
  13. It really varies per surgeon. My doctor requires a 2-3 week protein bars (2) and protein shakes (3) diet pre-op. Then the day before surgery we are required to have only clear liquids....I am on clear liquids today. Yikes!
  14. These are great, thank you! Are they for the full liquid stage or mushies?
  15. Do you know how to change the calorie settings on myfitnesspal? It keeps telling me I have a thousand calories or more left because I am stuck eating 800 calories a day. Thank you!
  16. I would absolutely take him with you. My husband came to mine after a bit of convincing from me. It ended up being the best thing since I was needing his support so badly. It eased his mind he asked as many questions as he possibly could and now he is my biggest source of strength. I will pray that your husband has an open mind!
  17. Welcome! My surgery is on Thursday and I am on all Clear liquids tomorrow. I am going to miss my Protein shakes as I have gotten used to those being on the liquid diet. I wouldn't have a "last supper" if I were you just because I wouldn't want anything to get in the way of you having a successful surgery. Best of luck tomorrow!!!
  18. That is awesome! I'll private message you so we can keep in touch!
  19. You are doing so well, I've only lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I have cheated with spoons of Peanut Butter, I even had three chicken tacos on 4th of July. I am back to being so strict this week in order to loose 15 pounds before surgery. I am hanging onto hope that it gets easier after surgery. I've also been SUPER emotional and my patient is running so thin.....my poor husband When is your surgery date? I am in 6 days!!!
  20. I heard that it was a procedure that originated with patients who had stomach cancer. That is fascinating. Congrats to you and your Mama!
  21. I also have this question. I asked my doctor what would happen 30 years from now having the sleeve? What are the long term reprocusions to not having 85% of your stomach? He answered "if you don't take control of your weight, you will not be alive in 30 years!" That hit home! I still am curious to long term effects, but through all of my research people are more ill before surgery than after. Excited to start my new life!
  22. Ok, thank you! I am going to take this next week and get back in line. No one said this was going to be easy, but the pre-op diet is a little slice of misery!
  23. Has anyone ever heard of a doctor cancelling surgery because they can tell you've cheated on your pre-op diet? I have been on a two week liquid diet with a few veggies and bars. I am worried that the few cheats I have had will cancel my surgery. I have one more week. I am going to be so disciplined! Has anyone ever been opened up and then the doctor has not completed the surgery?
  24. sleeve sisters!!! my surgery is also next thursday! I'll be thinking of you!
