  1. I do the same thing Missy. I wasn't told not to, but I don't just so I don't have any complications. I do usually eat Breakfast because my appointment is normally in the afternoon.
  2. Patty, You are doing an amazing job! You are blowing the doors wide open. Keep up the good work!
  3. Checking in after another "fair" weekend. Down to 281.4
  4. I use a straw and I chew gum...I guess I'm a rebel! My Dr. said 2 weeks no straw, but never said anything about gum. Of course, I don't swallow it.
  5. Checking in 282.2 (UGH only .6lbs this week--but it's still a loss--after a weekend of "fair food") Hubby is a teacher and we had to work the class booth all weekend. It's difficult to find "good" choices. I got a burger and ate the patty only one night. But there were other choices I made that were not good. Starting off on a tight leash this week. Let's keep the scales going DOWN!
  6. Congratulations on your new life! It gets better. I too, have the Realize band. I was banded 6/19 and now have 5CCs in my band. I have lost 47 lbs since this process began. This place is WONDERFUL. YOu will get real, truthful, frank help and advice from all the nice people here. Sometimes we need a swift kick in the pants and you can get this here too. Best of luck in your new life!
  7. I weigh once a week (Banded 6/19). Funny thing is I weigh less on the Drs scale than on mine at home. I have to travel for the Doc so I can't weigh and then go so I know what the total difference is. Good Luck on your journey!
  8. Mine does not require liquids after a fill. I do soft foods for my own "safety". I'm glad you were able to feel better with protein shakes.
  9. Congratulations girl! What an accomplisthment! I would be shouting from the rooftops. I have lost 47 lbs so far and my clothes are a little baggy, but I don't think I'm down any significant sizes. I can still fit into my 26W and 24W clothes. I know I'm doing what I should and weight is coming off, but I love hearing these stories of you ladies having fun shopping. I WILL get there. Keep up the good work to all of you on your journey! We got this!
  10. I am late to the party but a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS To you!. You are an awesome inspiration to many of us. You are frank and truthful in your discussions and I for one appreciate your honesty. I am glad to have you as a friend and a lap band guru. Congratulations again on your accomplishment! You look fabulous.
  11. Sorry, I'm late checking in. Unfortunately, it is my TOM and I didn't lose...although, I didn't gain! YAY! So my weight this morning is 282.8

  13. I haven't been told I couldn't have brussel sprouts, or advocado, or tomatoes, so I don't think you're cheating. Now, if you've been told by your surgeon that you should not eat them, then my answer is Yes you're cheating.
  14. I was told the same thing. I was ready for that 2 weeks post surgery morning. I love my coffee and I use splenda and FF creamer.

  16. Me too. Do you know about the study at Pennington?
  17. tbutler, I know if you work for the Federal Government, their BCBS will pay for it.
  18. Yanet, I eat 3 meals of 1 cup per day and maybe 1 snack if necessary. HTH
  19. I have had two fills, but I still don't have much restriction. I'm at 5CCs in a 10CC band. I do exactly what Missy suggested to you. I measure out my food and I eat what is on my plate. (3 to 4 oz Protein, 1/4 cup veg) I never have "seconds". It has been an exercise in willpower, but it can be done. If I am still hungry, I will wait a minimum of 2 hours and then have a light string cheese, or other low cal snack. You can do this. I never, ever thought I would have the willpower to do this, but I have bypassed oreos on more than one occasion. (This is big for me). Getting healthy and steadily losing weight is a great motivator.
  20. I have eaten steak several times since being banded. I eat mine medium rare and have had no trouble. I have had 2 fills and now have 5Ccs in my 10CC band. I have been steady at my 2 lbs a week weight loss, so I don' t see any problems. I do know many bandsters who have problems with steak though.
  21. You have to remember....we have no children at home, so.......
  22. I eat tuna most days. Lots of Protein. I keep a jar of mayo and relish in the office fridge. Sometimes I bring a boiled egg as well. Quick, easy and definitely economical! the 2.6 oz tuna package is $1.25. Good Luck!
