NicholePerlatti reacted to *susan* in Vst Rules - Keeping The Forums A Safe Place For Everyone
Vertical Sleeve Talk was created as a place for people with a common goal to come together, seek advice and offer support to one another. It is a place where we want everyone to feel safe to ask questions, seek advice and gain support without the fear of being judged or ridiculed. In keeping that in mind, I would like to remind everyone of a few of our key rules:

We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning.
Members will treat each other with courtesy and respect, especially when they disagree. We understand that bright, intelligent and educated people may not always agree, but personal attacks in the form of insults, abusive language or other means of obvious harassment will not be tolerated.
Do not attack, mock or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user's spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
No hi-jacking topics. Please stay on-topic with a forum topic. Off-topic or derogatory remarks are disrespectful. Please either contribute politely and constructively to a topic, or move on without posting.
We reserve the right to respond to violations of these guidelines by blocking and/or banning members from this forum.
Violation of these guidelines may lead to disciplinary action. We reserve the right to delete or lock topics, to disable the posting privileges of any member, or to deny anyone use of our site at anytime, for any reason, at our discretion without warning or notice.

Recently, there have been numerous topics created for the sole purpose of insulting, ridiculing and/or criticizing other members. Placing these topics in the Rants and Raves forum does not justify their creation. As stated above, the VST team members goals are to create a safe place for everyone to post. Many members have contacted us regarding their fear of asking questions, stating their concerns publicly, etc. because they are afraid they will see themselves later being mocked in another topic. That is not the environment we wish to create here. It is a violation of the above stated rules. And, in accordance with those rules, the moderators and administrators have agreed that any such threads will immediately be locked and removed. If any member continues to create such threads, they do so at the risk of their continued membership here on our forums.
If you have any concern about a topic that has been locked and/or removed, you are welcome to contact a member of the VST team via private message to discuss those concerns. It is not appropriate to start a topic solely for the purpose of questioning topic closures, disciplinary actions and/or banning of members by the moderators and administrators of this forum. Threads such as those will also be locked and removed. The VST staff work very hard at keeping the forums a happy, safe and productive place for all, and we ask that in turn, you respect them and their decisions.
    Thank you.

I feel the same. The thing is I want to loose slow. At least that's what I say. Since I've been youtubing and on this sight I see how fast people drop and I'm like maybe I should go as fast as I can before the stalls. Idk maybe slower is better I know slower is better. Skin has time to tighten up. Things are so confusing.

NicholePerlatti reacted to Robyn Owens-Miille in "cauliflower" Potato Soup
I was wanting warm comfort food tonight.
softened 1/2 an onion, chopped fine in a tablespoons of olive oil.
Add a lb bag of cauliflower florets, 4 cups of Water and 1 stock packet (the concentrated stuff)
add 1 cup of milk when soft
Add salt, pepper and some garlic
once tender, pureed until smooth with the stick blender (You could leave it chunky if you want)
I split the recipe in 1/2 at this point
    pot 1:
added 1 bag of jimmy dean turkey sausage crumbles and some crushed red pepper flake
    pot 2:
added about a cup of 2% cheese (mix of swiss and american), 12 oz of low sodium lean ham cubed up, 3 slices of turkey bacon (cooked and crumbled)
Both are so yummy! I can't decide which I like more. I despise cauliflower and potato Soup is something I absolutely adored previously (we didn't do Tomato Soup when you were sick, we did potato soup!). I'm very happy with this replacement!
I haven't run them through sparkpeople yet for for calories, fat, Protein, etc.

If you told me that I'd be rinding my bicycle for 30 mile trips a few times a week.
I'd especially scoff at you if you would tell me that one day I would take a 55 mile ride like I did last Saturday. I could not beleive it as the miles just racked up further and further as I headed to a trail system about 3 towns south of us, the GPS trip computer I use registered 54.94 miles when I hobbled off the bike in the driveway. 2 years ago I would be wheezing and panting at a trip around the block!
If you're still undecided about a VSG I can tell you it has DRAMATICALLY changed my life. I am a totally different person than I was 2 years ago and MUCH more physically fit. I'd recommend it to anyone! Best thing I'vve EVER done for my health.

I do the same type of recipe but use one, maybe two eggs, fat free milk and use Pam instead of the oil, way less calories and still tastes fabulous! I sometimes throw a couple tbsp's of grated cheese too, even a dollup of fat free sour cream.....yummy! It doesnt have as much Protein but way less fat.

You know you won't need the Bio Oil in the hospital, right? All you need at the hospital is a robe for when you walk (unless you don't have a problem with wearing two backless hospital gowns), pads just in case you start your period (the ones in the hospital are dreadful), lip blam, slippers, and clothes to go home in. As for the Gas-X, they will likely have something in the hospital similar to it, IF you need it. I didn't.

I'll get flamed if I really speak my mind. Needless to say, a 2 year old is not going to even have the option of disrespecting me.
I'll say this: children need consistency. If the person watching your child is undoing what you're trying to do, you need to find someone else to watch your child.

I always like to answer those questions with a question or some vague 'answer'.
    "What a weird question."
    "What difference does that make?"
"Our family is nuttier than a fruitcake!"
    "It's hard work losing 50lbs!"
"What do you think of the pics I posted?"
"I must look GOOD if I'm the subject of gossip. Whoo hoo!"
At the end of the day, it none of anyone's business and you don't have to tell ANYONE.

White chicken Chili: 4 cans great northern Beans, 1 lb. chicken, 2 cloves garlic, 1 cup diced onion, 2 t. Oregano, 2 cans lowfat cream of chicken, 3 cups lowfat chicken broth, 1 can diced green chiles,6 oz low fat/fat free sour cream, and 2 cups low fat monterey jack shredded cheese. Cover your skillet with olive oil, add the diced onion, crushed garlic cloves, chicken (I added whole pieces and cut up later, but you can cut up beforehand if you want), and canned chilies. I set the stove top on about 4-5 and covered with a lid and let all of this cook together. I went ahead and got my larger pot ready and added the beans, cream of chicken, broth, and oregano and let this start heating up on low to medium heat. After about 10-15 minutes (when my chicken was cooked through) I added the skillet ingredients (I cut my chicken up at this time) into the pot so that everything could cook together. I cooked on medium heat for about 30 minutes. At the very end, we added the 6oz of sour cream and the cheese and let simmer for another 5-10 minutes and then it was ready to go. I added about a tsp of sour cream on top of Soup right before I ate it. (I am using this during my pureed stage, but will probably have it again once I move onto solid foods bc of the Protein and the ability to add unflavored Protein Powder as well.)

Yowsers. Why are you trying to stay under 600 calories per day? Is that Dr orders?
Remember, you can exercise, so if you are able to do an additional 200 calorie burn, you add 200 to whatever daily intake ...
600 ... I was doing that a couple weeks post op, but to maintain that level won't be good in the long run. You can't get enough carbs in for energy.

I had my 6 month check up today and I'm glad to say that I'm 138lbs down. Im an electrical engineer in my current job,but my doctor offered me a job today as a spokesman at weightloss seminars. I gladly accepted the job because I feel like I can inspire a lot of people to change their lifestyle and become healthier. I'm excited to know that my success is opening up doors that I had closed for so long.
