  1. Yes, I was a cash paying patient and insurance will cover it since it was needed and if we had discovered it they would have payed for it anyway.
  2. I had the best (not to mention cutest) anesthesiologist for lap band. I have had bad experiences during childbirth and for dental surgery where I have had delayed reactions to anestesia. After being awake for dental surgery I was knocked out cold on the way home. I voiced my concerns and so he said "so you want me to make sure you are really out before we start?" I said YES PLEASE! On the way to o.r. he asked how about a cocktail? I was woozy moving over to the table and bam....that was it. Next thing I knew I was in recovery with my sweet little nurse holding my hand!
  3. I am lucky because I never really had heart burn (except with pregnancies); however, I really think that excercise will be easier after recovery because I often had sharp pains in the center of my chest that could never be explained.
  4. Nope, no nausea at all but I just had a bad dizzy spell and realized just how little I have been drinking. Having a hard enough time getting in my shakes so haven't been focusing enough on my water
  5. Just wondering if anyone else can give me feedback on doing both of these at the same time. I am having pain still in the center of my chest and wondering if its from the repair because I think most of the gas is gone now. When I signed the consent to have it repaired if he found one I didn't think twice because I was sure I didn't have one. It just seems a little close to where the band is placed though...
  6. I am doing better. I still have pain in the center of my chest but I don't think its gas pain. I am wondering if its from the hiatal hernia repair that I got with my band because I never knew I had one but experienced this kind of pain often when deep breathing (like during excercise). Having a hard time eating enough though and that sure is weird!
  7. Hey all, thanks for asking how I am! I am doing well considering. Still have some gas pains and just a little around my incisions. Taking my pain meds every 4 hours and gas-x and walking and moving around as much as possible. Excited for it to be over and that I am on my way to recovery!
  8. Please let us know how you are doing, trust me I know its been a long day but starting to feel better now
  9. What I am more concerned about is you drank the sugar free snowball, lol. Every flavor I have ever had is terrible! I like the sugarfree banana pops, but they obviously use something different in the syrups...just can't go there :b
  10. Well today is the big day and I think I am prepared with supplies. A little nervous but glad to have support with this community...thanks to everyone and see you in bandland!
  11. Wow, you guys are so detailed. Thank you so much, can't believe the big day is tomorrow!
  12. Thanks for replying and I know I will be moving around soon after, but so many people said that they slept so much for the first 2-3 days after I guess that's what I meant. I guess having things at bedside (other than meds and water) doesn't make much since anyway that way it will force me to get up and move!
  13. Hey all! Just have a question for those already banded. I am going shopping tomorrow for my post-surgery needs. I already have gas-ex (because everyone swears by it), but what other things made you more comfy after surgery? I will most likely set up camp in my room to be close to the bathroom. My bed sits high so not sure if thats a good thing or not. Please give me your thoughts on what worked and what didn't! Thanks! Misty
  14. Thanks so much Denise. I have been to the loser's bench many times...just time to stay there now! Will give updates!
  15. SURGEON APPROVED ME FOR SURGERY!!! This Thursday at 9:00am....wow not much time
  16. I did the full panel the first time but not sure what they ran last Thursday. Hopefully the surgeon will get back to me sooner than later today to know if I am having it Thursday. I bet my levels are close to normal now that I am taking it on an empty stomach.
  17. Well my new TSH level was 26 which is way down from 96, but still way off. The medical director did not give his approval so they sent it off to the surgeon for the final say. He won't be in until 10:30 in the morning and the waiting game stinks...especially on a pre-op diet!
  18. So to clear up a few questions...I had radioactive iodine done in 2003 and have been chasing the thyroid level every since which is what landed me at 274mcg of levothyroxine. That dose finally gave me a normal level but my NP made a mistake and thought I was low again. I got frustrated and asked to switch to armor. She told me to take it twice a day WITH MEALS. It was harder for me to remember and after reading more that says not to take it with certain things, I think the doses I did take were probably ineffective. I was always extremely compliant with the levo and honestly the forgetfulness got worse lately (which is a side effect of a really high tsh level). Is anyone else having good results on armor and how are you taking it?

  20. Thank you Sue. You are right it does kick you into gear but I am really confused on whether to switch back to levothyroxine or stick with the armor thyroid. I just don't know how much of it is the med and how much of it is my fault.
