Can You Join The Military After Surgery?
No mater what M.O.S. a soldier chooses, he/she is first and foremost a soldier. Soldiers are exposed to a number of situations that keep you from eating for many hours and possibly days at a time. When you do get to eat you may not have much time to do so. Therefore a WLS patient is a less than ideal candidate for the US armed services. That being said I think a strong case could be made for someone who has been sleeved as opposed to an RNY. With liquid Meal Replacements a sleeve patient could conceivably get the nourishment he/she needs. I wouldnt give up. Get all the facts together, and make your case. This may be your opportunity to make history. You may be the one to get the ball rolling on a DoD policy modification.

Thoughts On Unjury?
My opinion, unflavored is only good to mix into yogurt, creamy Soups, & other milk based products. I've also used it to cut the strawberry, as I found it too sweet.

Protein
Yes, I like the chocolate & the banana. The banana tastes like banana pudding. They are a bit high on calories, but that is because they are not just a Protein Drink, they are a high protein Meal Replacement.

Lapband Revison To Sleeve
As a sleever myself, I think you would be making a great choice. I highly recommend logging into Vertical Sleeve Talk, it is run by the same people that run this forum. You can log in with the same acct you have here , we have a whole forum dedicated to Band to Sleeve Revision. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised at how many people there are that have been right where you are at now. Here is a link to a recent thread on the topic http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/49125-has-anyone-who-failed-with-the-band-succeeded-with-sleeve/

Am I A Liar?
Would you feel as though you were lied to if you were the one asking the question? I think when you answer that question, you will have your answer to yours.

Unfortunately crossover addiction happens in most cases. It is the unfortunate consequence of an addictive personality. The good thig is that you can also choose to be "addicted" to something productive in your life.- Need Reassurance
I'd say that depends on your individual strength level & tolerance to pain. I know personally if I were to have had my surgery on Monday, I would have been fine to be beside my wife through almost anything by Wednesday or Thursday. Since they are presuming that it is not cancer if I could finagle the schedules I'd go through with it. If your surgery is within 2 days of her appointment, I think I'd talk to the surgeon and see if anybody the following week wanted to swap.- How Long Before I Can Drink A Soda Or A Zipp Fizz?
Also, Sam's Club has 5hr energy for $36/24pk. I buy it that way because it breaks down to $1.50 each. A box could last me about 6 months though.- Any Revisions To Sleeve From Band In The 230 Lb Range At Surgery?
There are a bunch of revision peeps around here. They'll be along soon I'm sure- Has Anyone Been Sleeved Twice?
Though I wasn't there, I am relatively positive there was a bougie used in your surgery. I havent yet heard of a surgeon that dosent use them.- Always Check The Ingredients--- All Proteins Are Not Equal.
Researchers generally determine Protein quality by using the protein efficiency ratio (PER) or the protein digestibility corrected amino acid score (PDCAAS). They determine the PER by evaluating the weight gain in growing rats fed a particular protein compared with a standard protein, egg whites being the gold standard. The higher the PER value, the greater the protein quality. The PDCAAS was introduced as a more accurate way to evaluate protein quality for humans, because it uses human, not rat, amino acid requirements to calculate the amino acid score. It compares the amino acid profile of a protein with the essential amino acid requirements for humans according to The food and Agriculture Organization. When a protein meets this requirement, it gets a score of 1.0. PDCAAS has now been adopted as the official method by the World Health Organisation, the US Food and Drug Administration and the US Department of Agriculture. Although the PDCAAS method is the internationally recognised standard for comparing Proteins for human consumption, it does not allow for differentiation among proteins with a PDCAAS of 1.0, so proteins can have different PERs while still having a PDCAAS of 1.0. This is significant, because researchers are now exploring how variances in specific essential and/or conditionally essential amino acids, as well as the availability of various peptides and micronutrients, affect human physiology. Claims of consumer-relevant superiority or inferiority, when performance of physique modificaitons are concerned, have yet to be supported by population-specific evidence in humans. Protein PCDAAS PER Gelatin/collagen 0.08. -- Beef/poultry/fish 0.80-0.92. 2.0-2.3 Soy 1.00. 1.8-2.3 Ovalbumin (egg) 1.00. 2.8 Milk protein 1.00. 2.8 Casein 1.00 2.9 whey 1.00. 3.0-3.2 Bovine colostrum. 1.00. 3.0-3.2 Table 1 Table 1 (above) lists the PER and/or PDCAAS for the major types of protein used in nutritional supplements. The following discusses the relative strengths and weaknesses of these basic types of proteins that are often used as starting materials for nutritional supplements. Of course, adding deficient amino acids and other nutrients to these proteins may increase the PDCAAS, nutrient value and/or functionality of the protein. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> As you can see above collagen/gelatin is nearly useless to the human body. This is what is in almost all protein shots. Always check the ingredients. Many makers of protien shots are giving them names that have Whey in their title but are still using collagen/gelatin as their primary protein source. Also keep in mind that ingredients on labels are listed in the order of amount used. So if collagen or Gelatin is listed first then it is the primary protein source for that product.- Brad And Angelina...
I really hope not, his parents live a few miles from me, and one of his brothers is a R/E agent here. This whole town goes stupid anytime there is a chance of them visiting.- Thicker Protein Shakes
Mix chia seeds into it. Be careful, not too many. They do swell.- Has Anyone Been Sleeved Twice?
Yes, my surgeon does "resleeves". Usually it's due to a surgery that was just not done properly, however, this does not appear to be the case in your situation. At this point I'd say don't fret too much about the difference. I'm assuming that even though the results were less than ideal, he wouldn't have gone through with the surgery if he felt the change wouldn't be signifigant.- Chia Seeds Are Da' Bomb! Literally :)
They are referring to the whole seed.- Protein
