  3. Also see if you can take a tums or chewable Pepto they also soothe the acid but because I have not been sleeved as of yet I do not know what the effects will be so I can tell you what can help but consult your doctor to ensure they can do more good then harm.
  4. Did the doctor prescribe prilosec? I am no doctor but I do suffer from bad acid reflux and zantac works better then prilosec but I would consult the doctor first and see if you are permitted to take an liquid antacid in along with it that should give you a little relief
  5. Nikki82 that is great, thanks for sharing.
  6. United Healthcare the plan that my husbands job offers does not cover any weight loss surgery. So I was really disappointed in that because I know United Healthcare does cover it in other plans.

  9. Hello All, Life is funny, the other day I was very hesitant about having this surgery although I did my research but being on this site and reading about the journeys of others made me really consider doing it. Finally I made up my mind and was starting the process of finding a doctor only to find out today my insurance won't cover the surgery, looks like my dream got cut a little short. Now I have no idea what I am suppose to do.......Help any suggestions?
  10. I am at the start of the process where I have just decided I want the procedure. I am lost on how to go about making it happen
  11. Aww don't be just know after tomorrow starts a brand new life for you. I have not been sleeved but I have had my share of surgeries.
  12. Hello All, I have decided that I want to have the surgery. My issues are I do not know where to begin. I still have a lot of unanswered questions and was hoping this site would help with that. I want to know how does this process start? I am going to my primary doctor next month and wish for her to recommend me getting this surgery with hopes that United Healthcare will cover it. My issue is do I wait or do I contact a surgeon. I think I found a good surgeon but I wonder about how long is the time span between the time you have your first appointment to how soon the surgery takes place after? I guess I am wondering will I be waiting a few days, weeks , months or years help......
  13. thanks Lissa this information has been just what I need.
  14. Hi Everyone, I am considering having the vertical sleeve but am a little hesitant. I have read up a lot on this procedure and knows someone who has had it done but still a little worried about the results. I am turning 40 this year and have only been under 200 pounds for a short period of time in 16 years. I am ready to embrace change and want to be healthy. I am still in the very early stages of this I am waiting to see if my doctor will recommend this surgery for me for other new developing health issues as well as those I am trying to avoid. I need all the words of encouragement and support I can get.
