I am kind of where you are right now. Kind of frustrated but hanging in there. I was really sick two weeks ago so I stopped working out and then I went on a little mini vacation last week and didn't work out again. For me that is the ONLY way I lose weight (which is kind of a bummer). But I think we have made great progress thus far! Keep it up- hang in there! Get back to the gym! I think once you get your juices flowing again with exercise- things will start to change. At least that is my hope for the both of us!

My name is judy. i have done every weight loss program out there. i lost 125lbs in 9 months on this one intense program but gained it all back in a short time. since then i keep trying i have so many workout dvds. so many diets i can teach a class on weight loss. but cant teach myself. i decided to do the gastric sleeve surgery because i am tired of trying and failing. I am a single african american women I have two grown kids and one new grand daughter. I am very excited and terrified at the same time. I am afraid of going under the knife. kaiser seems to have it all toghter though. so i will trust in god that he will be with the doctors when i have my surgery. I really hope I don't need it after the pre op diet. if someone else is just starting i would love to have a friend to share with.

I don't want to upset you, but after your initial loss and now that your bmi is only 31.1, I think 10 lbs a month is pretty normal. The weight loss is going to slow down the closer you get to goal. Plus, 10 lbs a month gives your skin some time to catch up. Hang in there. You are doing great!

Hang in there! You will get your appetite back and taste buds back. There are still some foods that don't taste the same to me, but, things are much better. I'm about six months out and there are days I don't feel like eating nor have a taste for anything. Those days I just focus on getting my Protein and fluids in. I'm so pleased with the weight and clothes falling off, I don't worry about the food. There are those days when I really do have a taste for certain foods! So, hang in there!

    LovinMe1213 hi
i don't think there are any 5 year sleevers yet
i know some 2+ years have posted here
if you are having doubts about WLS - IMO the sleeve is the greatest.
Nerves are totally understandable - many many people get scared, emotional pre-WLS - its great
You made the wise decision to chose WLS - don't second guess yourself (if possible)
i understand being inquisitive about long term sleever, results, etc.
don't think there are any stats on those long term people yet
i'm sure i'll be a survivor 5+ years out + many, many more years
    13 months post-op, down 103 lbs - GOAL
    good luck

CALM DOWN!!! I"m here to make you guys feel better. First, ur exactly one month out and 49lbs down... a friend of min got the surgery and lost 15lbs pre-op and a month later was only down 10lbs so woo hoo for you to lose so much in just one month.
2nd, throw the scale away.... YOUR LOSING INCHES.. measure your body... or get one of those machines that measure ur body when you hold it tight and realize that ur not dropping lbs because ur dropping inches... If u lose lbs and no inche you'd look like a square after losing al the weight.
3rd, can u still walk? Go window shopping. buy one of those trackers that tracks ur steps..
4th, GET OUT... if you stay at home ur gonna keep feeling sorry and upset and thinking about ur weight.
5th, EVERYONE GOES THROUGH THIS... my friend who i mentioned earlier is at a stand still. Do you think she's about to lose it? NO. Its normal. Dont get discouraged because if your an emotional eater you will regret it!
Know that everyone in this site.... we are all here for each other. Focus on the positive... i'm waiting on my surgery date and I'd give anything to be down at least 20lbs right now, but i'm not discouraged.
    Think happy thoughts!
Good Luck... and do victory things... 2lbs down... u do something you like another 10 lbs u get a massage 15lbs down buy yourself something expensive.... 30lbs down join a social site!!!!!
AGAIN!!! IT happens... good luck!!! I'm sure you look great.. plz dont give up. we are all in this together.

I understand how you feel!! I was just notified on Monday that my job was being eliminated and the first thing I thought about was grabbing something to eat. Instead, I headed to the gym. If you are going up and down the same 3 lbs the past 6 months then you have found your maintenance calorie range so now you just have to either decrease the calories or increase your exercise. You can do this!!!

I currently have the band, and have had it for five years. I didn't have any of the slippage issues folks have had and overall not many severe complications. But if you've got a moment, here's my story.
Self pay at 252. Height 5'8" and wanted to get down to probably 160 at the time. The initial 4 - 5 months is where I lost my initial 20 - 30 lbs. Most of that was in the recovery period. Over the next 2 years, I lost a total of 50 lbs so at the 3-year out period I was right about 200. And, it was work on my part.
I never got good restriction with the band in that small amounts of food didn't fill me up. I got acid reflux. I got stuck frequently despite eating very small bites and chewing, chewing and chewing. Yeah, getting up from a business dinner to go throw up is so professional. And, even if I was stuck I was still hungry.
I'd go back to get fills and unfills probably every 6 months. Fill because I couldn't get restriction. Unfill because if I did get some restriction I'd get horrible reflux and the things I'm supposed to eat (lean meats, etc) I couldn't but junk food - no problem. Yeah, two bites into a meal and bam - stuck and throwing up. Not able to eat afterwards and being HUNGRY.
The band never eliminated hunger. It does for some, but didn't do so for me. My Dr told me to eat only 1/2 cup of food and then stop. Not because I was full, but to see if I wasn't hungry any more. What? That meant, that I was controlling my food intake with no assistance from the band?
I've since regained 30 lbs. My experience with the band has been that basically I'm doing all the work. It might help a little but not much. I basically wasted a LOT of money. I know that no matter what WLS you have you and only you control what you put into your mouth. Learned that! But, I want a tool that will help me. The band wasn't that tool.
I honestly don't think the band will be on the market that much longer. My doctor was a HUGE proponent of the band but these days, not so much. If you go down that path, good luck. I just wish I knew then what I've learned since. For me, this "tool" didn't work.

This is going to save my life cuz I am sick of those protein shakes! Granted I still have to do a Protein Shake but now I can cut one out of the day! YIPEEE. Just thought I'd share my excitement! :-) :-D :-P

COnative reacted to Ms.AntiBand in Will I miss Binge eating?
It is normal, but needs to be addressed. Just like alcoholics/drug addicts don't go for help because they know they will miss it. It rewards them just like food does for us. You're taking the first step by admitting you have a true addiction .. Now you need to get your head in the right place. The sleeve helps, but not without the right mind set. Therapy is most likely the best option if you believe it's going to continue to be an issue.
Pre- op I panicked and ate everything in sight to where I was so disgusted in myself it made me face the fact that I was no better than the town coke head .. It's like I hit rock bottom... I was seriously pathetic and I cringe just thinking about.
Good luck.. We're all here for you!
