As long as you are not gaining 2 pounds a day, you should be OK. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

sugar free popsicles actually taste a little better, IMO. That's any easy fix to this easy problem.
I have a fat girl picture of me on the fridge. It's a nice reminder of how far I've come when the idiot cycles start (been there, done that).

geno5150 got a reaction from NtvTxn in Worried about long term effects :( ghrelin hormones
No one really knows for sure as ghrelin itself hasn't been studied a whole lot over a long period of time. They have been removing entire stomachs for years in cases of cancer and severe ulcers with the patients living long and fruitful lives, so I'm not all that concerned. The long term effects of being a fatso aren't that great, so how much worse can it be?

geno5150 got a reaction from anayortiz in 3 B Question! Bra, Bananna, And Bad Breath!
Can't help you on #1- at least not that I will admit.
For #2- you should be able to eat banana in the pureed stage since they are so mushy. i was grinding them into my shakes for a little flavor and bulk in liquids. It mostly depends on your doctor's timeline for you.
For #3- welcome to ketosis. Now that you are burning fat for energy, bad breath is your new best friend. There is nothing you can do to stop it, unfortunately.

I just threw out a bunch of old Casual Male catalogs myself. It is nice to be paying high prices for style instead of square footage these days.

geno5150 got a reaction from happilysleeved in red lobster? what to eat?
If it were me, I would stop at a good restaurant, get something to go, and then sneak it in to Red Lobster or Olive Garden and eat it.

geno5150 got a reaction from manderdjs in GAINED 6 lbs in 2 days ! ?
It's normal. As long as you are losing on a monthly basis, you are doing fine. I would stop weighing yourself so much. Thiese fluctuations are very normal.

geno5150 got a reaction from TD41 in Letter from Cigna... not denied yet
I would call CIGNA myself and ask them what information they currently have and what specifically is missing. Then I would call the doctor and relay that same information, then calling CIGNA every day and checking to see they have received it, then following up with the doctor to find out why it has not been sent.
At lest you don't need to go the appeals route yet- that's a plus in your favor.

geno5150 got a reaction from Ballermom in Co-morbidities
You're quite welcome. You can also ask them to fax the approval to the doctor so you can get moving on scheduling the surgery. This will save time waiting for the post office to deliver the letter.
Don't fear your insurance company. You are paying the bill, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Each one has a medical policy that defines what is and is not covered and how to qualify- it's not secret information. As long as your company has not excluded it, you should be good to go in most cases.

geno5150 got a reaction from Ballermom in Co-morbidities
Just ask them what information they have and what they still need in order to approve. It's most likely an honest mistake or some missing paperwork.

geno5150 got a reaction from Ballermom in Co-morbidities
That doesn't sound right. Obesity in and of itself is not a comorbidity. The BCBS-IL medical policy states:
BMI equal to or greater than 35kg/meters² with at least two (2) of the following comorbid conditions related to obesity that have not responded to maximum medical management and that are generally expected to be reversed or improved by bariatric treatment:
Hypertension, OR
Dyslipidemia, OR
Diabetes mellitus, OR
Coronary heart disease, OR
sleep apnea, OR
Osteoarthritis
If you have a BMI of over 35 you also need two of the above list. If you BMI is over 40, then you shouldn't need any co-morbidities. I would call BCBS and ask them why you were denied- don't wait for the doctor's office to do it.

I do Powerbars- I like the chocolate/peanut butter ones. The sugar is bit high, but they do make a low sugar version if you can find it.

geno5150 got a reaction from 920amy in Am I eating too much!?
Is that 8 oz volume or 8 oz weight? 8 oz volume is normal- that should be right around a cup or so. The dressing is probably helping it slide through.
There is zero chance you have stretched it out without extreme effort,so don't worry about that.

geno5150 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Lack of Family Support...
So in other words, your dad is a typical dad. I have one of those too. Come to think of it, I am one as well.
I'd be willing to bet when you come back safe and sound and are 50 pounds lighter by next summer he'll be completely over it.

geno5150 got a reaction from Ballermom in Objections From Loved Ones
Do you think that parents may feel some sense of responsibility for their kids having weight issues? I know mine do, even though they have never come out and said it. It may be guilt that makes them reluctant to support this decision, IMO.

geno5150 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in 3rd day post op question- concerned
You had major surery to one of the largest organs in your body, so all sorts of weird pains and discomforts are expected and totally normal, especially after filling said organ wih Fluid. You were also pumped full of gas during the surgery, so that bloating just has to work itself out- no farts or burps are going to help it.
