May not know the reasons why it hasn't worked out yet, but I promise ya its with some purpose...maybe your new coverage will be better than what you have so it will turn out to benefit you more in the long haul?? From what i've seen on here you are always so upbeat and positive...don't let this get you!! And I understand needing it years ago...it took me so long to wrap my mind around actually doing this...but now that I see it as the tool and help that it is...I have been having to practice extra hard on patience cause its like c'mon already....couldn't we have done this like yesterday!? Hang in there girl...

Ok, My coworker had the gastric bypass 5yrs ago, and I mentioned that I was having the band next week. He said NOOO don't do that, I know 2 people that failed. I'm sooooo tired of people and their opinion on the lapband. I was skeptical at first but I plan on following all instructions provided by my dr.
I've educated myself on ALL the complications that MAY happen.BUT
I'm going into this with a positive mindset.
I just wanted to vent!! Thanks for listening lol

Yes, United Health Care won the contract and they take over in April....hopefully it will be easier to get wls surgery with the new insurance...I really hope so..

Four more days!! Im excited! I started my journey the minute I decided to have the surgery. I have lost a total of 42lbs in the past four months. This has nit been easy but its more than worth it. A little bit of sacrifice will pay off. Im hoping to be down 50 by Monday.letting go of old habits!!!!!

I'm getting really excited two days, ill get a call tomorrow from the surgery center to let me know the time of my surgery Friday, my church gathered around me and prayed for me, my surgen, and my new future, I'm felling like I am one blessed girl today

Banded at 1pm today. Everything has gone very smooth! All of the hospital staff have been super great. Feeling ok, just super tired and groggy. At this point I am only allowed ice chips but eating or drinking is not even a concern for me right now. My ONLY complaint is that I have a super obnoxious (non-banded) 'roommate' who has called a good 15-20 people since about 6pm, she's loud and rude to the very sweet nurse we have. hehe. She even gave one person a very detailed over-the-phone recipe for her own spaghetti sauce. Omg!! Not much pain from surgery, but this lady is bound to send me into Migraine mode. good luck to all, I know I am very excited to have finally started this part of my journey!!

Hi! I'm new here. Had all of my pre-ops today and am getting banded on the 28th! I am 24, no kids, live in Los Angeles, and have a loooot to lose!

So exciting!! im in the first month of my 3 month Dr supervised Weight program... hopefully in late April I will be setting my date too. good luck to you!!

Yeah I just got word today that I'm approved for band. They were as surprised as I was because my BMI is only 34 and I only have one additional health related condition (HBP). So, I will see doc on mon and set surgery date for sometime mid Feb.... (Hopefully around Presidents' Day weekend ). Of course, like most everyone else, I'm excited, nervous and scared all at the same time! This forum has helped me tremendously.. Thanks everyone!

I did well "waiting" for the first two weeks, but this week it had really started getting the best of me! we shouldn't be too far apart...I would love for them to get me schedule for Feb 8-12 sometime so that I can use my Mardi Gras holidays at work for recovery! The 29th is a great day :-) My mom's birthday! Whats your Pre op diet look like, all liquieds? Keep in touch! I'll be praying for you!

I have done all my classes but now I am just waiting on the surgicial staff to call to meet with the surgeion! They told me I would only have to do a week of pre op diet! I nerveous about that part but I am going to make that week go by real fast with house work and I mean deep cleaning!

I am in recovery! I am so excited I am finally among the banded and can't believe the first day of the rest of my life is finally here.

I called my insurance company today and I am approved as of yesterday! I am so excited but nerves all in the same! Called the doctors office today I could be banded in as little as 3 weeks!

I just got the call from the hospital that I go in a 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. I am so excited! I can not wait to be on the other side of this and continue on this journey to the real me again. I am excited about the future and what it hold for me and my family. I will be healthy, I will be sexy and exciting again, I will get my family healthier too. :D

Day 2 of the pre-op diet. I actually started it a day early because I have a friend coming to town on Friday, and I wanted to get over the "hump" of the first 3 days that everyone says is the worst. Hope that's true!
I was freaking out yesterday because I thought the shakes tasted disgusting, but I am handling them OK now. Only had 2 yesterday, not the prescribed 3, which I know is not good, so it's 3 a day from here on out.
Boyfriend cooked his own stir-fry last night, and it smelled divine. Even a banana right now seems like a bacon cheeseburger. I will make it. I am an all-or-nothing girl, and I'm gonna rock this.
