I'm sure we could go thru post and find hundreds that could be posted someplace different. To each their own, if you don't agree with someone that is your right. Be respectful and let it go, no one is being hurt, if you do not agree please read a different post that does not offend you.

This message is for all those who see my inspirational posting as too Religious for Lap Band. Elcee. I just want you to know that My postings may not be for you since you think they are too religious so I would give you the advice to block me off your page. Because the way I see God is apart of this process and if you don't have him. The way I feel failure process of losing weight will be an option if you don't have the right guidance and strength. What works for me may not work for you!! To All those who like my inspirational posting I will keep them coming!!!! Smooches!!!

There is so much information out there about living with the lapband and some of it is contradictory. Take advantage of the advice you will get on here but remember that your medical team should be your primary source of information.
With that disclaimer in place....

Eat slowly
Chew lots
Take very small bites
Follow your doctor's dietary rules both pre-op and post-op. They are there for a reason
Just because you can eat something, (anything, everything!) doesn't mean that you should
Experiment to learn what foods you can tolerate. It is different for everyone. For me, I can't eat red meats and most breads.
Plan to exercise. Not only will it aid your weight loss, it also becomes fun!
Have a real life champion. My husband is my biggest cheer leader and my hero. Without him by my side, on my side, I doubt I could have been as successful as I have.
Plan on making this a lifelong journey. It's not an overnight fix.
It's not always easy but it is definitely worth it.
Look out for, enjoy and Celebrate NSVs (Non-scale Victories)
Stay in touch with your medical team. Follow up visits are a major key to your long term success.

The issue w/ meat can be potentially resolved by dipping it in a light ranch dressing 1st. What you'll find in the months after, when you're not as restricted as the wks after surgery, is that your band will tell you what works for you. They say avoid broccoli, but if steamed soft enough it can be ok. Depends on the person. Everyone is different. They say no drinking at meals, some do (successful ppl), but it can fill you up & you need "nutritional calories". Its up to you. The fail rate, I believe, is folks not wrapping their minds around how "mental" this process is. So much is in our heads, why we eat, how much, what we choose, under what circumstances... If you don't face that stuff, you may lose, but you'll gain it back. What I love about my band is it gives me consequences when I don't chew well enough. It tells me when I've eaten too much and provides consequences for that as well. Sure, if I don't adapt my stomach could stretch, but I do make the change. I love my band. It is helping me a lot. Enjoy your 4th too. Started 3 week pre-op today. 3-4 Protein shakes and salad with 6 oz. meat. Not too bad. I did have smidgen of strawberry rhubarb pie though! My date is July 23. Also have hiatel hernia that doc will fix.

Just wanted to wish all the US people a happy July 4th and I wish you all the willpower necessary to get through this day without overeating and indulging too much

I know it, I just can hardly stand it I want to to do this so badly... My friends and family think I'm crazy but I don't care... I'm so glad to share with you on here because you know how I feel,and how exciting it is to know that we'll have a tool to help us look good and be healthy and that our success totally depends on us, but we still have our little lap- bands, (mine is going to be named Gertrude), to help curve our food intake so that we can acheive our goals. It's so exciting...

Good luck everybody I finish my last exam 18Jul I was too scared of disappointment to hope for a July surgery date I dont think my insurance will respond that fast so I think I will be a Aug bandster

EGD this morning, pre-op on July 29th, and surgery on August 13th! I cannot wait!

I take it that you aren't fond of flying me niether but what a great adventure when you step back on the plane you will a be a new person equipped with what you need to let the world see this new person I wish you luck and great success

I havent scheduled we submit to my insurance early if my insurance take the full 30dys I will have surgery early August but from what hear they respond quickly as soon as I found out I will be so happy

Yeah the machine is oh so sexy(rolling eyes) but I feel AI much better I've been using mine since APR it took awhile but I wake up feeling so much better all this time I didn't think I was a morning person ...I was just oxygen deprived

I just got home, gas pain is a little worse then my incisions but walking is definitely helping. Thanks for all the kind words. Will keep updating!

vicki, i also have LBS and i managed to do okay with this pre op.
the first few days i was also shakey. it does get better. any weight loss is fantatsic but focus on getting your body ready for surgery rather than a number of weight you lost. you are doing great. keep it up. just alittle while to go

DeAna, let us know what your date is. I am so excited!!! I go next Monday for my nutrition class and get my medifast for my two week preop diet!!
