It always cracks me up when I see the moms teetering around in the high heels and the cropped tops at football games. Biznatches, you are in your late 40s. I don't care if you CAN rock your midriff or if you look better than your high school daughter, put your junk away.
Caveat: I understand this potentially reads as jealous, as I am always in the stands in my jeans and double XL men's t-shirt. But even if I could, I would not dress sluttier than half the girls at the game.

Ok, I have to admit I can't WAIT until football season next year! Im a football mom (and basketball and baseball mom lol), and I was practically (I think I was, but hubs says 2 moms were bigger ::rollseyes: the biggest mom on the team. There are a couple of other "smaller fat" moms, then there are the real bitches who were popular in high school and just stick thin or drop dead gorgeous. Well those woman will be super nice around me when my skinny husband is around, but wouldn't give me the time of day if he isn't around. Now, I have been super open about my surgery, and all the team parents know I had the surgery. I still can't wait though until next season when they see me sitting in a smaller lawn chair and there is still space between my waist and the arms lol I have already had one mom who used to never talk to me start trying to be my friend, but I have no interest in those types of women. I'll stick with my 3 true friends of the football moms
It's also funny to me how the skinnier people in my life have mostly all suddenly started dieting (including some of said bitchy team moms). Like they are threatened by my weight loss or something. It's funny (but also kind of insulting) they feel they have to be skinnier than me. Oh well, with my awesome tool I'll show them lol

I totally know what your going through. Even though I am almost at my goal weight I have stalled for the past month and I have been snacking on a little here and a little there which adds up! My greatest fear is gaining all this weight I lost! It helps a bunch that I track everything I eat on myfitnesspal but it's hard to guesstimate the mindless snacking.
I can't do shakes either but totally need to put a stop to this snacking! I'm with you. I am a food addict and I used to binge eat. I can not and will not fall back to my old ways! Let's do this! Thanks for the post!

I know what your saying... If it works for you, then that's good. I cannot just do just shakes I need food so it would be a set up for failure for me...
We have the hardest part to learn now and that is self control. Some people just say "ok these crackers and such, I like them and I might eat them sometimes but not until I get to goal and even then if it becomes a problem they are just something I need to cut out."
Perhaps just saying no until to you get to where you want to be then reevaluate?

Yes, it goes to show that our surgeons know what they're talking about when they give us guidelines to follow. This is terribly tragic and I hope this post helps us to remember to think before we eat. Thanks for sharing lj

I recently heard of a story where a woman who had undergone Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery had eaten a whole cheeseburger 2 weeks after her surgery and her stomach erupted and she unfortunately passed away. So this leads me to think about how many times I eat something without thinking. We all had this surgery for a reason, so why would we want to detriment ourselves like that? This was a tragic story that I heard and I wanted to share it not to scare anyone but to enforce the think before we eat for all of us even myself. I wanted to post this for all sleeved persons so that we as a community can come together and make sure that no matter how far we are into our journey that we will always think before we eat something that might not be good for our sleeves. Please if you have nothing nice to say don't say it at all. Thank you!

I know I have written about this topic before, but for some reason I can not find the thread. So I wanted to rewrite my own personal goals and hopefully a few of you will share with me also! I am not putting this in any particular order because I have reached some of my milestones and can't actually remember what other ones I had before. But I would like to be able to go back and see how far I have come!

OMG floating? I'm scared... If I take a bath it's bubble baths at night with candles so I've not been scared yet....
But, never, NEVER bend over naked in front of a mirror so you see a side view, while putting on lotion, trust me I've scared the crap out of myself doing that!

I look at myself and don't feel like I have a ton of loose skin yet. There still seems to be a lot of fat there especially in the hanging belly area. I try not to be too critical, after all I have lost heaps of weight and gone from a size 20w to a 14 so far.
Also I don't take baths too often. Our tub is not really that comfortable because where you would lie back is not sloped but squared off. It is a built in tiled tub and we don't currently have plans to change it. But it means baths are not as appealing as they might otherwise be. It has been several months since I've taken a bath, though I'm sure I have had one since surgery.
Well I'm on a business trip and it turns out I am in what is probably considered a 5 star hotel, in Bangalore India. There is a huuuuuge tub, and I decided to treat myself to a soak (and a glass of wine). I filled the tub, stepped in (it is deep), sat down. And my loose floppy belly FLOATED! OMG. Like a beach ball. Seriously it kind of gathered itself up and floated. The skin around my hips was pulled tight and flat and I could see what a difference it would make to get a Tummy Tuck. Just wow.
I could also feel how "loose" it really is. That is where I am carrying all my weight now. If it were not for that pannus I think I would be in a size 10 rather than a 14. Just experiencing that floating belly in the tub made me understand why people don't see where I could lose 15 more kg. it's because jeans really hide that.
It was kind of gross and weird but also fascinating.

I am currently smaller than I have been in at least 15 years. I can't remember what I weighed when I started college but I'm pretty sure that I haven't been this close to 200 since high school. My goal was to be 197 on Christmas. That will put me 9 months out from surgery and I will have lost 100 pounds since surgery. AND I think I can make it. I was lucky that I lost some weight before surgery so I've currently lost right at 129 pounds total and I am so thankful that I had a sleeve done. It has been one of the best decisions I've EVER made and I have no regrets (of course other than the typical "that I didn't have it done sooner" ). I have always been happy with who I am. Who I am amounts to more than how much of me there is but I have a whole new outlook on life. I feel better so I feel better about myself. I have always been someone who smiles all the time but now I seriously catch myself with achy cheeks because I am smiling so much. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have this surgery. I am thankful for all the support I have at home but from this forum as well. I can't wait to be able to post my W-ONDERLAND picture of my scale in a couple of weeks!!!

Oh man can I relate to the struggle of balance and the guilt of being selfish. I'm struggling to be a good employee, student, mother, and wife on top of being healthy. There's just not enough hours in the day! Even though everything I'm doing is for my family, I feel like I'm neglecting them in the meantime. Ugh!

I think the fact we had bariatric surgery is part of why people talk. Let's be honest here, it is still considered a "dirty little secret" by many. It isn't right or fair, but it is. People judge and condemn a person for being obese, wondering how on earth we let ourselves get in such condition. There is little empathy or compassion from non obese people for those who have simply lost control. ( for whatever reason) Yet when we choose to finally take back that control, do something real and meaningful to get our health and lives back, tongues start wagging. I think there is a whole host of reasons why. Everything from believing we are lazy and taking "the easy way out" to jealousy and envy. But you know what? We are probably some of the strongest people in the world. We aren't weak for having doubts or fears, we are warriors for caring enough about ourselves to get up and DO something! This is far from a simple, easy road to take. It is a mountain to climb each and every day. But we are on the mountain, so why not enjoy the view? Yes, they notice. Yes, they talk. Because in their small world you are the biggest "new" thing to discuss. I just encourage all to hold your heads high and be proud you are you. Our lives have all been turned upside down and inside out from all the change we are experiencing, but continue to have strength in knowing you are worth caring about yourself. The rest of the world be damned!!!
