Side Effects With The Pre-Op Diet...
I found every pre-opt day got a little better as my body got use to no carbs. I am now on day 5. Days 1 & 2 were the worse, headache-wise.

What Was Your Breaking Point?
My surgery date is in one week and I totally relate. I am terrified but even more scared not to take this chance to succeed.

Stage 2
The Unjury chicken broth is high protein and tastes very good.

Anyone Else Have A Surgery Date In July? Excited And Terrified!
I have a July 11 surgery and totally understand. It's hard to think of anything else. I try to imagine all the good that can come from this - an opportunity to succeed where I haven't been able to in the past. As my daughter told me- "You're braver than you think you are." I have to think she's right!

Any July Sleevers Yet?
I haven't been able to figure out my protein shakes yet- tried several. I did try the Unjury chicken broth and really like it.

Who Did You Tell?
Extra stress and pressure are just not what I need at the moment. ...So those who know my surgery is coming up soon are my husband, adult kids, mother, brother (& wife), sister (& husband), family doc, and 5 close friends. I have asked them not to tell other family members or friends. I thought how I would feel if these particular people choose not to confide in me for something so important. Whether to tell my grandkids has been difficult for me but I have decided not to for awhile. I think that later I will decide to share with others but not now. I need to use my energy to focus on my surgery and recovery. It is really helpful to hear the comments you all have shared. Thanks.

Have any of you read THE EMOTIONAL FIRST+ AID KIT: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery by Cynthia Alexander? I just finished it and think it will help to keep rereading it after my surgery.

So glad to hear about your surgery. My surgery is in less than 3 weeks with Dr. Hoehn.

I Was Pissed And Ate Bread
I'm sorry, too. It's so easy to talk ourselves into needing those carbs to cope.

I Had To Cancel My Surgery For Tomorrow :-(
I am so sorry that your brother died. You will be glad that you took time for your family's needs right now. God bless.

Exhausted
I also am very concerned about my two week pre-op diet.

How Many Times A Day Do You Eat
I'm wondering about that, too.

Less Than 24Hrs To Being Sleeved And Am Scared To Death.. :(
I really appreciate you sharing how you feel. I am sure I will be feeling the same way before my surgery. I know it will feel surreal if I ever make it to the pre-op room. I am afraid of the pre-op diet, too. But I liked the comment by shangefan that I am more afraid not to have it. I am 63 and want to make the most of the next 20+ yrs. God bless you.

Caffeine
Is caffeine a big no-no before and after sleeve surgery. Should I wean myself off my ice tea habit?
-
Rogaine
I am wondering if anyone has tried or had success with warding off hair loss with Rogaine. Haven't found it mentioned anywhere, just talk of Biotin, Zinc, etc.

Finding Freedom
You are absolutely right. I believe my surgery is a God given opportunity to overcome my failed attempts - an answer to much prayer. He is giving me a chance and I must have the courage to make this choice to reign in my excesses.

Over 60 and having the sleeve
Thanks, Janerose. I am really glad for your encouragement. There is still an unreal quality about going through this surgery. Sort of overwhelming. Helps to "talk" to others to make it a real option that I can do. Braver about it some days more than others. Kathy
