Same Boat! I've had my band for 4 years and am getting the sleeve in 1.5 weeks. So afraid of failing, but excited to use my new tool and make better decisions. I agree that a support group is what I need this time around!

I'm November 9th as well! We're down to the one week countdown! I'm 28, 5'10 and 343 lbs. I'm in Kentucky and my main goal is to be able to genuinely play with my toddler as well!

I'm having my revision to sleeve on Nov 9, 2016!! Anyone else on here having the same day surgery??
I started my pre-op diet yesterday. 2 Protein shakes, 2 Protein Bars and 2oz chicken and 2 oz veggies a day. I'm having a hard time eating all the Protein wth the band!! Especially the protein bars! They are so thick and chewy and hard to get down.
Next Monday and Tuesday I'm on Clear liquids only and Wednesday is surgery day! 1 night in the hospital (hopefully) and then I can go home.
I'm nervous. Excited. Scared. So many emotions!

smellslikecoffee got a reaction from Kitty7926 in I need help keeping this secret!
I had the lap band surgery in 2012. I told my parents, two or three close friends and my husband. Eventually my mom told my grandmas and some cousins and I was mad for a while. I have decided to have the sleeve in a few months and I have decided to not tell a soul, except my husband. Eventually, I'll tell people. But since the band failed me, or I failed the band, I'm hoping the sleeve will work and j won't be embarrassed to tell people. It's your choice. If you don't want people to know, then you won't say anything. But deep down, if you do want people to know, you'll tell than. Good luck

I'll be getting the sleeve with a new doctor as well. My last doctor was Greta but I HATED his office staff. I trust this new doctor, just nervous as heck! Good luck with yours too!

Hi all. I was banded in November of 2012. Before that surgery, I had to have my gallbladder removed, which was July of 2012. I lost about 60 lbs before I became pregnant in October of 2013. I only gained 40 lbs during pregnancy. I had my band unfilled in June of 2014, when I was 8 months pregnant because it was uncomfortable to eat anything! I had it filled again in September of 2015, and have lost 30 lbs since but have hit a plateau for almost a year now.
I am in the process of changing insurance that will cover the entirety of the band to sleeve procedure. I have a consult with my doctor sep 28th.
Now that I have a son, I am beyond terrified to go under and do an other surgery. I'm afraid of not waking up. Is this normal? I've only ever had these two surgeries. I'm 27, so done with hating life as a fat mom and not looking into Mirrors when I walk past them or wearing a bathing suite. I want to be healthy for my son but the band just isn't working for me anymore. The sleeve is my next option.
Any Advice or kind words are definitely appreciated!

Thanks guys! Part of the struggle for me is I am such a big mouth. The other is that I feel kinda angry at my one friend who had the surgery but kept it secret, mainly because I would love to pick her brain about who did her surgery, how things went, etc. I also have a group of friends I go out to eat with monthly. They are going to guess something is up. But for now I am not telling, guess I will decide later if I want to share and who to share with.

Thank you! This is something I definitely will be talking with him about. I think I'm also especially nervous because I have decided to tell nobody except my husband. I can't imagine not telling my parents and then them finding out something happened to me!
I'm generally an over thinker thank you again!

smellslikecoffee got a reaction from kll724 in 1 year, 1 month after surgery and pregnant! Advice!?
I haven't been on this site in a while...feels good to be back and reading all the success stories.
Anyways, It's been a year after surgery, and I'm pregnant! 11 weeks along, to be exact. It was definitely a SUPRISE! But happy about everything now
I have a few questions...when should I tell my surgeon?! I'm really afraid to call and tell them, and I don't know why !! I've had some morning sickness, and have only thrown up 1 time. And it was stomach acid ewwww. I feel nauseous when I don't eat, so I'm snacking every 2 hrs or so to keep my stomach full. I don't feel like I need an unfill, but I'm curious about everyone else! I guess I'm scared to see doctor because I have not lost weight like I should and now, here I am with a pregnancy! I feel like a Lapband failure.
Also, I'm going with a midwife, and not an obgyn. I plan on having her baby at a birthing center, naturally. I hope everything will go smoothly so my wishes for baby can happen. This is my first baby!
If anyone has advice on when to see my Lapband surgeon, or any info on midwife and the band, that would he great!

So - I just got cleared from my surgeon last week to go back to the gym (6 wks post-op) and I have gone several days and wow - what a huge difference post-surgery weight loss makes. It feels so amazing to go - and work out hard. I am up to 60 min of pretty intense cardio and feel great.
And let me be clear - I am not one of those people who says they love the gym, but man what a revelation!

I was banded on the 29th, too. I lost 13 since surgery. All of my jeans are too big and I am down to 1 pair that I can wear but with a belt. I haven't worn one of those in years. My 3X shirts are all too big and I think I look frumpier now than I did before, lol! My underwear looks ridiculous! However, I am going to wait til after the holidays to buy myself anything new. I may look silly but it just feels soooooooooooooooooo good to not wear clothes that cut off my circulation, lol!!

Once again, let me be the contrarian here.
No, it's not normal. Not for me. I was doing cartwheels that I gave away my fat clothes. I don't miss sweats, large parkas, not being able to tie my shoes without holding my breath, having stains on all my shirts from dribbling food straight down, underwear that could double as a sail or belts that belong on a sumo wrestler.
Nope, I did a happy dance.

    Hello.
First of all, I'm sorry if I don't write correctly- I'm from Israel so don't speak English fluently..
I had my lap band surgery in July- I have a 14cc band and 3 weeks ago I got another fill that got me to 10.5 cc.
I'm having a bit of problem drinking. It's not impossible but I have to drink very slowly and never while I eat.
I was wondering if this is normal or if it is a bit too tight. I've has very little restriction before the last fill and it took a while for the band to work..
    Thank you!
