It is a small victory BUT it's mine nonetheless! This morning I put on my zip up boots...and I did not have to struggle to get the zipper up!! Whoo hoo!! I am 10 days out today and that was a wonderful gift!

Thank you for this post, very inspiring. I can't wait to be able to run, I'm only 3 weeks out so I'd like to lose a lol bit before I go! But I can't wait to join my friends who do all the fun and special 5k's around the Seattle area, it's definitely a motivator :-)

You're discouraged because you're judging your success by the scale. I understand. We ALL understand. And it's still a bad idea.
You're getting all of your fluids, all of your Protein, managing your calorie intake and have lost 60 pounds in three months. That's how you stay motivated! You are successful every day. Celebrate every day that you follow the protocol. Regardless of what the scale is saying, the laws of science and the universe cannot be denied. Continue following the protocol exactly as you have been and sooner or later there is absolutely no doubt that you will lose weight.
Sometimes you'll lose quickly. Sometimes slowly. And yes, sometimes not at all. But your response is always the same regardless of what your weight is doing - follow your plan. No matter what - follow your plan. Forget about weighing for at least a week and two would be even better. Focus all of that energy on - following your plan.
Stay positive. Stay patient. Maintain your food log. And follow the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can.
Do those things and you're gonna love the new you - guaranteed!!

So something kind of amazing happened today. I asked for 4 weeks off work. My doctors office said start with 4, and we could ask for more if I needed it. MetLife is notorious for only approving 4 weeks for this surgery, and I had no intentions of taking more. Well apparently when MetLife called my doctors office, the doctors office said up to 6 weeks and told them I could go back after my 6 week follow up. MetLife called me today with an approval for the full 6 weeks! I know I probably don't need it, but I'm thrilled to have it. My husband and I work opposite shifts so I do not see him at all M-F so it's going to be great. I'm feeling very blessed today.
Hope those of you recovering or preparing for your surgery are doing well.

Went to a theme park yesterday, and got on my first roller coaster in more than 10 years (12 years to be exact!) fear of being told I didn't fit kept me off every ride for that long.
After the whole day my hubby was like just get on one already. I went alone! In fear of humiliation! And this ride was CRAZY!!! lol and my hubby recorded it! LOL I couldn't believe I fit! I couldn't believe I loved it! Me and hubby are planning a date night back so we can get on more.... Together:)

I went shopping with my girls and went into one of those teeny bopper stores (OMG that makes me sound so old), but you know the type of store I'm talking about. I tried on a pair of jeans there size 15/16 and THEY FIT!! I didn't like them at all and didn't buy them but I was so excited that they fit. I also stood in front the mirror at the gym the other day and I didn't want to gag!! HA HA, yeah I know that's cruel but I felt closer to average and didn't feel like the one fat girl at the gym. It was amazing!

So I finally told my mom about my surgery. I called when I woke up for surgery and told her I had decided to have gastric bypass surgery. She said "when" to which I replied "this morning." She was shocked and a little angry, but she got over it and has mostly been helpful this far.

I brought cinnamon Buns to our morning meeting where we met our new manager for the first time. She looked at me and said "You're such a little thing! It's always the little ones who bring the food!" Lol
    If she only knew...

I'm in the early stages of obtaining all the tests and evaluations and clearances that I need in advance of the surgery. I have told only my husband, my sister, my daughter and son-in-law, some close friends, and one co-worker. I would only consider two people (son-in-law and co-worker) supportive. My husband, sister, and daughter are mostly silent, and I know they are concerned because I suffered from terrible complications during and after cancer surgery four years ago. Of my close friends, I feel like most of them are judging me. The one friend who isn't actively judging me isn't necessarily supportive, just nosey, wanting to know all the nitty gritty details.
    I feel very alone.

takingaleap reacted to BlueMoon~T in How much weight did you loose, before you could really notice a change in your apperance?
I agree with most. It took about 50lbs. before people started noticing. Right now, the scale isn't moving much but I'm dropping sizes. I started at a 26/24 and now I'm wearing a 16. People are starting to tell me I'm looking skinny. I laugh because I'm like skinny compared to what? I guess skinny compared to what I used to be. LOL!
Keep that WLS working for you.

This sure is a hot button topic. First of all, I'm sorry you're having to go through this. I truly hope you don't allow this situation to impede your weight loss. I know a lot of times significant others can have feelings of being left behind when the other is making changes to become healthier and may even fear that you, yourself, might find someone else. I'm by no means condoning his behavior.
With today's social media and technology it is becoming easier and easier for people to enter into non-physical affairs and what are now being called "emotional" affairs. I think it will do you both good to begin therapy to understand what the underling issues are. I truly wish you the best of luck in whatever the outcome may be.
And remember you have us all on here to vent to when you need a shoulder to cry on or a screen to scream at!
    Best Wishes!

My hair dresser has several other clients who had WLS, and she warned me over and over about this problem. So far I have been using WEN for a year. I was just banded 12/16/13. She says my hair is thicker, fuller and more healthy than this time last year. I am hoping the WEN will keep working it's magic and help me hold onto my hair!

My pre-op diet was 1200 calories a day--and now I eat 800 or less. Funny how 1200 seemed so low for me once upon a time! At any rate, as long as you are making the right choices now, eating what you are supposed to, exercising, etc. I wouldn't worry too much--it won't do you any good in the long run. And please don't think about your eating as "cheating". These were life choices that you made. It will be the same for you after surgery. Sometimes we make choices that we regret, but calling your acts "cheating" will make you feel defeated at times. Diet needs to be a noun in our vocabulary--what we eat to be healthy, not something we do. I know you can do this--take a deep breath! You'll be great.

No shipping issues here. Got mine last week. 4 cases with 30 11oz shakes in each, stretch mark ointment and bariatric Vitamins. The box was very heavy and moist but the items were fine. Didn't have to pay anything.

Not only does it get easier but it could become, brace yourself, enjoyable!
This time last year I was in the vicinity of 400lbs - yesterday I ran 6.5 miles. If the C25K gets too tough, do NOT hesitate to take it slower but get to that goal.
The first time I ran 5K on the treadmill I cried lol!

The only time I've ever run in my life was in the Army. Becuz they MADE me run. Hate running. It NEVER got easier, day after day.
I burn just as many calories by walking. Just takes me a little longer. It's nice that I'm pretty patient...

It was both a shock and a joy for me when I attempted my first run after losing about 80 pounds. I kept waiting for the "wall", it didn't come! My heart, lungs, and muscles were keeping me going.
I almost cried, it took me back to when I was a skinny lad who ran everywhere just because I could and it felt good. There is such an elation that comes with realizing that you have another chance at health.
The only thing that slows me down are my 65 year old joints but I work around them.

As a 9 time marathon finisher, pre-superfat and surgery obviously, I find that long-distance running is nothing but a mental game (barring any actual physical injury). It is not easy but anyone can run and run far. You don't have to be at the front of the pack and your goal shouldn't be to win but to finish and have fun. My best marathon time was Chicago in 5:07:04 and my worse was probably my last which was Los Angles which took over 7 hours to get through but I finished. I hope to start running again real soon, maybe not this upcoming running season that starts this month but perhaps next year.
