Ust found out have my appt with surgeon next Thursday the 10th...that should get the ball rolling! Nervous but getting kind of excited about getting it done. I went to Walgreens to look for Protein drinks..only found 2. Boost and ensure..ensure has a lot of sugar I was surprised.. Boost has 4 gms sugar & 16 gms protein. Ensure has 22 gms sugar & 13 gms protein Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

I don't know when surgery is yet...have appt with Surgeon Thus May 10 th...hope to find out then or will I hv to see all the others and get all my tests..blood work done 1st before hey give me a surgery date..I am anxious! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

Thanks....I will just have to wait & see...maybe wnt nd them just during wt loss from prevop diet! I wanted to start diet right away but when I turned in papers RN told me to hold off til I saw surgeon..as I would be weighed and that weight would go on record as my beginning weight..then I would need to lose 5% of that weight. When they put you on pre op diet or liquid diet how does that work with your diabetes? I am afraid of having lows...I am on pills & insulin..I am sure my doc will hv me cut back?! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

@ diddle: your pics are great! Sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom to cancer. ILost my Mom to cancer in 2007. It was and is so hard. What helped me is I made 9 scrapbooks all pretty much the same...one for each of our families! Took fro March to Mothers day ...but in looking back it also healed me..lots of tears on the pages but looking at so many pics of her daily...it really helped me through the rough times. I have told a few people at work..aloof my family (we are a close knit family) and my BFF'S!! I know with my being off for several weeks at work they will figure it out...and I don't mind if they know at that time. I know there will be a few that will share their distaste for the surgery...but I don't care. I will say something like don't need their opinion or approval and don't appreciate them getting into to my face about it! Haha type like I am tough...but I am a sensitive easy going person...& just hope I have the right words @ the right time! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

Hope everybody's surgery goes well . Would like to hear more of pre surgery stuff..I am new to this site by a few days. Oh dang! Just sent emails to family and friends. And just a few co-workers the other day...didn't know abt this site yet. So far people hv bn pretty supportive...I'll find out tomorrow about co workers! There hv bn about 4 or 5 people at work that hv had the surgery and all are doing great! I hv heard some negative comments from others for some of those tht hv had the surgery...if I hear it when I hv mine...I will just say...hmmm how would you suggest I lose 130 some lbs and keep it all off!?
