Wishing you all the best with it!

First fill.... So glad its over

Wow 4cc at one time! Thats more than I usually get, I only get 1 or 2 at a time... funny how different doctors are. I think it will go easier for you next time. My doctor doesn't numb it at all, just goes in for the goods! I did have a different doctor one day do it and she was worse, numbed it but I think that made it worse, i was bruised and sore. Hopefully it will be much easier for you next time!! Good Luck on your next fill!

    Second fill

I am at 6.5 in an 11cc band and I still don't feel restriction... so it is a process... I am hoping that in the next fill or two I will start to "feel something". Good luck and work on all those healthy habits now... it may be a while till the band is a tool for you so getting things under control now and in routine is helpful!

    Constipated!!!

I am 3 months post tomorrow and I very much remembe where you are at! I was there too! I tried everything and ended up having the best success with Miralax. It dissolves in water and doesn't taste. Good luck, this part does stink but hopefully things will get moving soon and you will feel worlds better!!

First Fill... Didnt Hurt A Bit

Yeah for your first fill! It isn't any where near as bad as you think it is going to be. I had my third today, the first two I didn't have any numbing before and it was fine, today was a different doctor and she did numb it up before and actually that hurt more! Good luck and wishing you the best!

    Helpppppp Me Please

Just really go back to the start. Think about all the things you did when you first got banded that worked well for you. Double check that you are doing all the key things we were taught. If you want to start adding in exercise to help jump start things I can give you a few suggestions. I am doing the "Couch to 5K" program. It is a program that gets you from walking to running.... Also, there is a great dvd out there by Jillian Michaels called 30 Day Shred. It is hard but good. I don't know your medical history so this isn't advice, just an idea. I think the biggest thing is to do some type of exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes. Wishing you the best!

    My First Fill Today

Sounds like you are doing wonderfully! Good luck and keep it up!

    Hmm.. Is This Normal?

I think you are perfectly fine. You are going to feel more sore at that location than at any other incision spot. Everyone is different so go with your body but you had alot just done to that area so it is going to be sore. Mine was sore for the first two weeks there... and even now that I am 9 weeks post sometimes it feels "weird" there..... If that spot feels very hot or if there is any discharge call the dr. but honestly I think it is just normal. Good luck on your new adventure in life and congrats on your surgery! It is awesome!

    Shirataki Noodles

Shirataki noodles are made from the tubers of an Asian plant (Amorphophallus konjac) called a konjac plant. The tubers are dried and ground to make a flour which is then used to make noodles. Just so you know what they are. They aren't bad... but they have a smell... you need to rinse them really really well before you use them. I am 8 weeks post now and I have had a tiny bit of Pasta. Honestly it was the one thing I thought I was going to miss the most and I haven't craved it at all! Never thought I would say that I am going to pass on pasta at a restaurant out! Now I look at the pasta... think about it a minute and then I am okay with getting something else... i don't feel like I am at a loss anymore! Good luck and congrats on being 1 week out and here is to many more wonderful weeks!

    First Fill

In my first fill (my band holds 11cc) I got 3 cc, then the second fill (2 weeks later) was 2 cc.... that is where I am now, tomorrow will be 8 weeks post op. I go in next week for my next fill or just a touch base depending on what I need! Good luck to you and remember that everyone is different. Just eat small bites and don't get distratcted talking while you eat... that I think is one of the hardest things!

    The Good And Bad

I am about 6 weeks post op. So things are new for me still. Honestly I feel so far that it is the best decision I made FOR MYSELF in a long time! Yes, it is tough at times but I don't regret it at all. For surgery, I am allergic to pain medicine so I was nervous about the surgery, the medicine they need to give me and the nausea that usually follows... I have to tell you I wasn't sick once... good doctors and good medicine helped! I also had a hernia repair during surgery so that was an added bit. I stayed overnight in the hospital and I got up every 2 hours (even during the night, the nurse would come wake me) and walked about 20 minutes. I hated the nurse for doing it but I would kiss her now to thank her. I had surgery on Thursday morning and went to work Monday. My dr. would have preferred me to stay home till Wed. but I needed to go back so I did, then I slept and rested all evening. It was sore for the first week really, hard to be comfortable and I felt like I could feel my port all the time, but that went away. About 2 weeks after I felt good. About 3 weeks after I felt great! Think about what is right for you, make your decision based on YOU and no matter what it will be the right one. I go back for my 2nd fill on Friday and will get weighed then but since my pre-op I am around 30 pounds down and I cannot complain. It is slow loss but I like it that way, I feel like it is more managable and more sustainable. Good luck and best wishes!!!
  13. I am recently banded... some of my tidbits to help you prepare for the Dr. and for your surgery are: Beverages: Carbonation, I was also told to limit coffee/caffenine Food: Bread (the 1st 6 months), Pork and Beef (also 1st 6 months), Corn and string veggies (st 1yr) These are right off my paper from the dr. ... I am still working on integrating more food into my diet and such so I haven't really tried everything again but this is what I have. Biggest thing I have been told as far as post health is to be consistent about follow-up with my dr., to limit meals to no more than 1 cup of food per sitting and to get in my 48-64 oz of Water and 60 grams of Protein. Good luck and congrats on starting your journey... wishing you much success!

    Omg Passed Out

I wish I could answer you, when I got my first fill last week I didn't do any barium... or any numbing for that matter... just stuck the needle in and then drank a little water after.... Hope you are feeling better today!

    Banded 9/24/12

I would keep an eye on the bathroom part.... if you stay well hydrated and if needed take something if you notice starting to feel really bloated it will help when you do go... I know I had serious issues with it and it was not a very pleasant experience! Walk as much as you can... Every hour or two be walking for 20 minutes... I even did it during the night since I wasn't sleeping well anyway. Honestly the more you are moving the quicker you will feel better. Take your pain meds, you don't have to give them up just yet.... but just do your best and you will be wonderful! Congrats on a successful surgery and good luck on your new adventure!
