Hey guys! I posted a long thread in the other March 2020 post but wanted to say hey to everyone on here also. Somebody wrote about wanting a cheeseburger and I can definitely concur. I would love some french fries and a hazelnut coffee...lol. So I definitely need to do some mental work! After surgery I'm not physically hungry but mentally is a totally different beast. After the difficulties of the past week I just want to soothe myself with food. Anybody else feeling this way?

Those numbers don't sound to bad to me. I was sleeved on Feb 19 at 270lbs and my current weight is 228.6lbs. Sound like I'm on the same track as you. Everyone looses at different rates. Keep plugging along, work your sleeve, it will come off in time.

It sounds to me like you aren't eating enough for your activity level. Have you consulted your NUT about your diet? Do you track and log your foods? Do you know how much protein/how many cals/carbs you are getting in each day?

    You need more fuel!!

I'm with you Cheri. I'm all for people keeping it private. But I've heard of more than one person whose plan was to claim some other medical condition to explain weight loss....including one who wanted to claim cancer. That was the true icing on the cake.

I am inordinately annoyed by people who lie about their surgery. It's one thing to keep details to yourself and tell the truth while sidestepping the *whole* truth. But to outright lie? That's just silly.
    And annoying.
I don't like it. Either keep it entirely private or tell the truth. Don't be a liar.

I realize this is not my typical wordy post. I'm annoyed, cut me some slack. Also, this is not directed at anyone in particular here at the forums. It's something I've noticed amongst my set of real life WLS patients.

I could have sworn I introduced myself here, but I'm a newbie, and still figuring out the difference between a group, forum and discussion!
My surgery info is below, but I wanted to talk about non-surgery stuff!
Soooo..... I'm a 50-year-old butch living and working inside the DC Beltway. I married my wife in 2010 when it became legal in DC after we'd been together for four years. We both work for the federal government (when it's open ), and we're recent empty-nesters. We have a 22-year-old daughter here in DC, and one in college in NC.
My wife, Laurie, is from Georgia, and a UGA alum. I see SOOOO many people from the Atlanta area on this site! I'm a Va Tech grad.
We're both writers/editors; we own and are constantly working on our 76-year-old house; we have a dog and five cats (of course we do); and we love to travel and camp.
Let's all get to know each other a little better! I can use all the support I can gather around me, and -- after all -- we're "FAMILY" right!?

Hey all, I'm 8 days post op and starting stage 6 pureed foods. I'm partnered for 13 years now and we adopted our doggie Jackson in May. Jackson was essential to my pre op weight loss this summer, Jackson and I walked at the beach, around town every single day for miles and miles and the weight just came off. I lost 66 lbs from May to the weigh in the morning of surgery. I am very pleased to have found an LGBT section on this incredible site.

I hope everyone is doing great. It is awesome to see how everyone is doing. Keep up the good work. I'm so happy I made this decision I'm down 88lbs overall and 70 since surgery 2/19/13 yesterday when I stepped on the scale and it read 200.0, man I just want to hit my first goal lol it was like a big tease so hopefully the next time I weight I will be under 200 my next goal is 188lbs, I hope I can make it to 170 by 2/19/14. I know I should be better about tracking my calories and could be better about getting exercise in daily, but I also want to enjoy life and having to diet always depresses me. So I'll keep doing what I'm doing and hope it keeps working even if it is a slower loss.

Amie got a reaction from MCM13 in Insurance Hoops? or just finance the thing and go to Mexico
I used my insurance in the US, but if I had to doing over I would have just went to Mexico. It ended up taking a year to get my surgery and with the $1200 I had to pay for my out of pocket requirements and all the copays and the days I had to take off work to make all my pre-op appointments, 2 physic tests, 6 weigh-ins, 1 dietitian, 1 learn to exercise, 2 surgeon, all before I had surgery, I think the money part of it would have been the same, but I would have lost this 88lbs one year sooner. This is just my oppinon of course. I totally understand were you are coming from. My mom had it done in Mexico 3 weeks after she decided to do it. Which doesn't mean she hadn't been thinking about it for years.

Amie reacted to Suzannesh in 5 years after having Weight Loss Surgery
    Hi Everyone,
I am celebrating year 5 of having a very successful weight loss surgery! I was 63 when I had sleeve surgery done, so it is never too late to have weight loss surgery!!!!
This was very best choice I have ever made in my life. I had my Weight Loss Surgery in Oct 2008. After a lot of investigating and considering all the doctors and places I could have my surgery. I made the choice to have Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli Mexico do my surgery. I was a self-pay, and believe me I really checked out every option there was. I was an older person and I really took my time to figure out what was best for me. I talked to a lot of different people who had already had weight loss surgery about who their doctors were.
It wasn’t something I rushed into. It took me about 6 months before I knew for sure that I was going to the right place for me. I also made the choice to have VGS aka the sleeve. I lost of total of 105 pounds and it took me 14 months to do this. Was it easy, yes and no? The 1st month was the hardest month I had to do. After that it just kept getting better and easier each month. It is NOT a magical cure. It is my tool to allow me to use to reach my goal. The big question you are thinking is have I maintained my weight loss goal? The answer is YES, I fluctuate between 5 to 7 pounds sometimes. I still eat healthy, make sure I get enough Protein and stay away from too many carbs. It accurately is a lifestyle change NOT a diet. It is easy for me to live like this and eat like this for the rest of my life. I have some really delicious meals and I never feel deprived at all. Do I eat deserts, yes and it is made healthy and is extremely good. Do I eat deserts every day; the answer is no. I love all the lifestyle changes I have made in my life and it will always work for me.
I was the person who hated to exercise. Now I do something every day. Last Sept, I thought I would just see if I could walk 7 days a week for a month and I did just that. Well that became a good habit and I walked EVERY DAY for one YEAR without missing a day. Yes, I walked outside when it was raining or not nice weather—I am always coming back home, so I will get dry if I get wet while walking. I walked between 3 ½ miles to 4 miles a day. Five years ago, I could have never walked that much. Find some type of exercise that you like and it will be easier to do. Start out slow and then add to it. You don’t have to do it 7 days a week, but do something at least 3 or 5 times a week.
I want you to know that you too can become successful at weight loss. I am 68 now and life is so different for me. If you are thinking about having weight loss surgery, I am living proof that it does work and you can do it too.

The red dress is flowey but it still said "small" on the label! Who would have thought that the word small and I would ever be in the same sentence? How's everyone else doing?
