I take antibiotics before all dental work and surgeries because I have a heart mumur. Tell your dentist about the procedure and if needed, he will prescribe them. I usually take 4 - 500 mg. amoxcillin 1 hour before any dental work.

I am supposed to start my preop on June 15. Think I will start it a week early. I have already given up soft drinks and replacing 1 or 2 meals a day with slimfast drinks. I have not bought any protein drinks yet but I know I need to. I saw someone with a quote the other day on this forum that said..."I no longer live to eat, I eat to live." I can't wait till my attitude changes! I see it slowly changing now. I am working on not drinking while I eat now. Man, that's the hardest thing. I don't drink too much when I eat, but I love a little sip. I find myself glued to this site trying to see how everyone is doing going through this operation. I know it's the right thing for me! I need to uncover my sewing machine and get to work sewing my granddaughters some clothes! I can't wait until I start taking up my fat clothes!!!

Ok, I will be traveling to Costa Rica on June 27 for my surgery. I will be on a liquid diet and can have some fat free veggies, 1 serving of fruit, 2 slices of whole wheat bread, broth, 2 cups of skim milk a day. I arrive at the airport at 4:30, fly out at 6:30 and arrive in Costa Rica at 1:30. The trip back is an hour more....My question is...what do i do for nutrition? Can you take protein drinks on a flight out of the country or what??? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have never been on an airplane and I have never had the urge to be...but this is my chance to have the WLS done FREE and I am going to happily jump on that plane (maybe medicated) and head to costa rica!

It's tough living in the south and dieting! Everyone here thinks you ought to eat to be healthy!!! I'm in North MS (and preop) and all I hear out of my mom is....."I worry about you not eating!" She ought to worry about me eating! That's what got me here!

Has anyone tried the agave nector that dr oz talks about?

My date has been definitely set for June 29! I go to the hospital on 6/28 for tests and my consult with the doctor and then I will be picked up at 5:30 at the Villa Le Mas and transferred to the hospital for a 8:00 a.m. surgery. I'm so excited!

I'm June 27 or 28 in Costa Rica.

I tried to get my husband to watch the surgery online with me. He would not....Guess I will explain it to him later too. All he knows is we will be going on a 10 day vacation to Costa Rica, surgery included. He'll never understand because he's never had a weight problem. That's why I like these forums! Awesome people that know what you are going through!

My NUT explained to me that the preop diet was not only to shrink your liver for surgery but to jump start your weight loss and get you in the best shape possible for surgery.

I do fine eating during the day but the evening time kills me!!! I've got to get it under control.

I was surprised how supportive people have been. Seems like they are actually interested in learning about it. They may be talking about me behing my back but so far all has been positive. My mom keeps saying she supports me but she worries. Since we r going to costa rica for 11 days I kinda had to tell most everyone. I've had enough time to tell a few at a time.

So today, I told the hardest group of people about my surgery...my church family. We had a lady in our church that almost died a few years ago from bypass surgery. She has not taken care of herself and stays sick and has gained almost all of her weight back. I knew they would be supportive but then there's this horrible story in our background. Everyone was so supportive, even my friend that almost died. I feel so relieved to have that off my shoulders. Also, the passports came today so I can get an exact date asap!
