  1. I have BCBSIL and I didn't need a 6 month supervised diet I need a psych eval and a bmi of over 40 and I also have comorbidity's. My surgeon require most of all the tests that you see below. As you can see it doesn't take long to complete yet it's still a waiting game.
  2. I called today and still, all tests have not come back yet and my Psych has not faxed over his evaluation or recommendation. I know it hasn't been a week but I'm ready to get this done. I called my Doctors office and was told that I should call after every test was taken in order to expedite my paperwork otherwise they wouldn't know when to look for it. So call, call, and call again.
  3. I just completed my tests on this past Saturday so now the waiting begins for me. I am going to call Wednesday and see what's next. I'm just going to get busy with other things in my life that I need to take care of and by doing that I'm sure my wait will not be that long. Good luck!
  4. It probably is, I'm not disputing what its called i just know I had barium for an esphogram & its over.
  5. I took an esophogram w/barium, the GI test I believe there is a tube that goes down your throat.
  6. I found out I will not have to take a GI test I only have my blood tests done.
  7. It was because of my Dr. Because my insurance only want psych, and bmi of 40 and i think nutrition and labs. I'm so overwhelmed I did all of my tests in 2 weeks time and now to find out that I have to wait until June 6th for another visit for whatever reason blows. I hope that's all I will need I really wanted a June surgery date but it doesn't look good for me.
  8. I have BCBSIL and I have to get a few more appointments out of the way and then I have to wait for approval. I want to buy things for the pre-op but I don't want to jinx it either. I'm going to sit it out and wait, I'm just being impatient and want it done already lol.
  9. I was told I needed to see a nutritionist for a consult and now today I'm finding out I need to see an MD in Gastroenterology. WTH! I am confused, what is the difference? Can someone please shed some light on this for me. Oh and to top it off I go to the doctor off for an hour wait only to find out because I had a Jolly Rancher I cannot get by blood tests done today! I have to come back when I have fasted for 10 hours OMG! I'm so in a hurry to get this done that now I'm getting frustrated. I wish I was told specifically what and whom I needed to see.
  10. Congrats! I'm still in the process.
  11. Sorry for the late response, but to answer your question, my Dr. gave me a sheet of things that needed to be done. I made all my appointments the very next day and I lucked up and got it all scheduled w/i 2 weeks time. If the next available appointment wasn't in May I called another hospital. lol
  12. Good luck, I'm in the process and I started May 08, I will be complete with everything on May 23. I will have to wait on results and approval. Hopefully that wont' take long.
  13. Wow your list has a lot of the same that I have on my list. Good luck with your endeavors & please reach out to everyone on here, we are all in this together.
  14. I love my Grandma and I know she mean well but I don't want to hear anything negative when it come to my decision to have this procedure. If she and anyone else that has negative comments could walk a day or two in our shoes they would get an understanding of how important it is for me to have it. Thank everyone for the encouraging words it really helps me. I love this forum and without if I may have changed my mind.
  15. I have gained like 90lbs in the past 2 1/2yrs. I go up and I go down in weight, you know, the yo-yo. So that is why I am electing to have lap band surgery. I know I am overweight & I know that right about now I don't look my best because I don'f feel my best! Why did my Grandmother go on about how I need to lose weight and all I have to do is eat off of a bread and butter plate! Huh! Oh and find a hobby! I told her as politely as I could that I am aware of my weight and that I have elected to have the lap band surgery. She told me I don't need that I just need to stop being so stressed and eat smaller portions. Ok, if it was that simple there would be no WLS options because all the world need to do is eat off of a bread and butter plate and not be so stressed. Oh and get a hobby. lol I have to laugh it off because if I don't I'd be more pissed than I am now. It's not what she said but more so how she was saying it. Like I'm not aware of my obesity & that it's so simple & I'm not focused. She said that the devil has tricked me into thinking I need the surgery and all I need to do is pray to God and don't keep an idle mind. Blah Blah Blah. I told her I hear what you are saying but I'm having the surgery because I FEEL IT IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR ME! I AM WHO MATTER WHEN I MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT ME! I was so pissed off  . I am not telling another person about my decision, people talk about you in your face and behind your back and to me, it's the DEVIL that is working against me bettering myself the BEST way that I know how. On another note, I have went to the nutritionist today, I have a few more appointments to go. Thanks for allowing me to vent.
  16. Ok, so I go and get my chest x-ray this morning and my esophogram. The process was simple but the barrium was horrible! I didn't like the way it taste and how thick it was going down. I had to do it twice because the first x-ray machine had some technical difficulties ugh! I'm so glad that's over with lol. I'm being dramatic it wasn't that bad but it was bad enough.
  17. I can understand what you are saying, I didn't realize that is exactly what I have been doing for about 3 years now. I am so ready to move on to my new life. May 2012 has been an emotional roller coaster for me, it seems the minute I decided to change my life for the better I have had nothing but challenges thrown my way. I know I will be stronger in the end but geeze it's hard. I love this forum it reminds me that i am not alone.
  18. Thanks for the responses fellow bandsters, I just want to get it over with. At the rate I'm going I may just get a June date.
  19. Thanks ladies! I wonder how long after the appointments are completed will approval take and then surgery. Lol it may take a long time who knows, I'm going to stay positive because I'm hoping for a July or late June surgery date.
  20. I have scheduled every appointment i need to get my surgery on the way all within a 2-3 week time span!!! Has anyone done this before? I am so ready for me to move on to the next stage in my life I was determined to get everything taken care of asap. lol
  21. Thank you ladies that helps a lot. I wanted to get it out of the way as soon as possible because I have read mixed reviews on the forum.
  22. I went to see Dr. Sarker this morning and she was very nice and informative. She went over everything with me and the steps I must take to get banded. I have so far made 5 appointments all for the month of May! I'm so happy! I have to take a sleep test, has anyone taken it? I'm going on the 21st for that and then on 22nd I'm having a Pulmonary function study, I have no clue what that really is. I think it's a breathing test. The process isn't as dreadful as I thought it would be. My goal is to have a July surgery date but I know i have no control over that. I'm waiting for a call back from the psychological dept so that I may make an appointment for the evaluation. So far so good though :D I'm so excited!!!!!!!
