Hi! Congrats on your new band I was banded 7/2010. Since then I am down 96lbs. I am only 20lbs away from goal. It wasn't an easy road to get here, and I had many ups and downs. But it was worth it. My advice for anyone new with the band is you have to diet and exercise. You have to change your way of thinking when it comes to food. The band is only a tool; you have to make it work. Too many people believe its some magic little device that will make them drop weight without having to do anything. That's far from the truth. Make better choices when it comes to your foods and you'll see the weight come off. Also, for the past year I've been using the myfitnesspal app in my phone. It makes you accountable for everything that goes into your mouth. We don't realize how many calories we consume. But this app/website helps with that. I wish you lots of luck on your new journey!!!! I agree with everything the previous poster said! I too use mfp and its such a great tool. I was banded 10/4/11 and am down 64lbs. Lots of hard work and exercise is a must. I got by the first couple of months with little exercise but then I stalled and knew I had to get a routine exercise plan in place. I've never in my life run before I couldn't even chase my 3 year old around last summer and now I'm running around 45 minutes every night. Getting banded was the best thing I've ever done for myself but it is only a tool. You still have to put in the work. Good luck to you!!!

Don't get discouraged. I know it's easier said than done, believe me. I'm 2 years out from my surgery and down 95 lbs. It was a hard road to get where I am, and I am still not done (25 more to hit goal). You have to diet. Plain and simple. The band is a tool, nothing more. I know so many people who did not do well with the band because they had this horrible misconception that they could eat whatever they wanted, and the band would simply cut the portions. Wrong. You have to make healthier choices. My suggestion would be to join myfitnesspal or a similar site. It will allow you to be accountable for every bite/calorie you take. When I hit a plateau about a year ago I joined. I was amazed to see what I was doing! Again, you're still so new to all this. It's forever a learning experience, even when you hit your 2 year mark like me. I wish you lots of luck! Stay positive!

To those of you who say you don't have time for exercise or you don't like to...I'm sorry but to me all I hear is excuses excuses. Yeah you may have a busy lifestyle but after getting the lapband put into your body to make a "lifestyle change" how can you do that without getting some exercise in? What is an hour out of your entire day? You have 23 hours to do everything else you need to do..and if you know you will tone your body and loose even more weight from it why wouldn't you take advantage of that? I think you guys need to step it up and quit making so many excuses...I have a life too...a job, family, boyfriend, pets, house to take care of, appts to go to in between everything else..and every single night I come home and get my exercise in. I have lymophdema in my legs and as much as it hurts to be on my feet and my ankles are so big it looks unhuman but I do not miss it...because I didn't get this lap band put in me to just sit back and watch the weight fall off...I'm working my ass off and don't understand why you can't either!!!
Do you want to end up like the people on here who are making a post in 1 or 2 years saying they only lost 30 pounds? If not, you need to make the change now...and if you don't want to..then I really don't understand why you got the band in the first place.

    SWEET topic!!!
My husband has brought it up several times how he thinks I'm going to lose weight, get a boob job (because YES, this is sooo in my future) and leave him for another dude. His concern has really made me think about it!
My internal answer is...I don't know! That's just brutal honesty. I've always loved big guys, my husband is 6'5 290# but when I was not so big, my choice in men was not so big either. My preferences went from a baseball players to a football players as my weight increased. Here is what I know. I love my husband, we are not together by accident. God placed us together as part of His plan for me, for him for our daughter. Are there days when I think I deserve better? Yup. Are there days when I think HE deserves better? For sure.
We'll just take it day by day like we always have (marriage is work whether your skinny or fat) and try to be better examples for our daughter.
Now as for fantasies....can we go there in this forum? Probably not, well at least not mine. Let's just say mine involve BOTH the football player and the baseball player...mmmm-kay?

OMG!~We had tried anal for years and years. (We have been married 18 years.) Last month it just got easier and it is absolutely AMAZING now!! I crave it daily! I'm on a mission to get other women to love it, too. My friends think I'm crazy, but their husband's appreciate it. lol

Losing any weight before you get to your green zone is awesome! The dietician can shove it. My surgeon said he didn't care if I gained weight during the first couple of months. If I could lose weight without a band, I'd have done it. As far as he was concerned without proper fill, I didn't have a band.
Lap Band's website says we can expect 1-2 pounds per week loss. It does not stipulate male vs. female rates of loss. You are doing just right.
This is your journey, not hers. You do not need to starve to lose what she says you should be losing. This is a life-time event. You WILL get there. Enjoy the journey, be proud that you didn't let her send you into a binge, that is awesome!!
