Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?

Its funny, I don't even consider myself in bandster hell. It had such a negative ring to it. I just feel like getting to the level of restriction is a process and getting fills until I reach that level is just part of the process. I'm not gaining and that in itself pleases me. I suppose if I thought the weight would melt off then thats kind of a bit much. People that have way more to lose than I do have already lost the 40 pounds im trying to lose at this point, but everyone has a different path.

    Hernia Repair During Surgery

What Does "full" Feel Like To You?

I get a tightness across my back.i dont know if thats my full cue or gas but I take it as a full cue and I stop eating. I havent learned my limits yet, so im not in any way interested in pushing them. Im about 5 and a half weeks post op. I hear alot of people say they get hiccups or like that feeling like theres something stuck in your throat. I havent experienced that.
  6. I had that same pain for over three weeks after I was banded on 4/23. It felt like I had a stitch in my side from running too much. It finally went away.and, yes I used the spirometer, maybe that's what helped. I'm unsure, just happy it's gone.

    Drinking

I have A glass or two of wine, or sometimes I have vodka in a tall glass of water with a squirt of mio
  8. The hernia band program is when they check for a hiatal hernia using the EGD and if you have one then they charge your insurance for going in and doing the hernia repair and you only pay for the cost of the actual band and the insurance picks up the dr fees, surgery cost and facility fees. So in essence I paid $5500 for my lap band. I didnt have to do any waiting, no testing, no evals, no counseling. Just scheduled and thats it. They say most obese people have a hiatal hernia. Heartburn, reflux things like that are indicitive of having a hiatal hernia
  9. I don't have any more restriction than I did before my first fill either. I'm staying at a ten pound total loss so far. happy not to be gaining. Ooh and the fill needle didn't hurt me at all.

    One Month Banded! Another Newbie!

Congrats! I was banded at almost the same time (4/23). I lost 10 pounds and nothing since. I'm still learning full cues. I've had one fill but can still eat probably more than I should.

    Body Bugg?

I'm interested in this too. It's hard to justify the expense since I don't know anyone that has one

    Surgical Incisions?

I have 4 small scars and one larger where my port is. I have 40 pounds to lose and I can clearly feel my port by just running my fingers over my abdomen.
  14. I was banded 4/23 and mine is still tender

    Fill Tomorrow Ques

I had my first fill Thursday. I was told no food four hours prior. Afterwards liquid until I was comfortable to eat. Lucky I had no swelling.

    Exercise Exercise Exercise

I worked out twice a day with a trainer and ran half marathons before surgery. I've also hit the gym doing cardio as soon as I was allowed and weights will follow as soon as my doctor says it's ok. I didn't gain for lack of exercise. I gained for lack of self control.

Scar Tissue/ Hard Skin At Port Site

I had mine put in on 4/23. I still have to be careful with it and the full nurse definitely poked at it too hard when searching for my port.
  18. I did the hernia band program since I had hiatal hernia and skipped all that. Kinda wishing they still made me see the nutritionist tho

    Banded 4.23.12

How are all the 4/23 bandsters doing? I had my first fill Thursday. It wasn't bad at all. I wish I had known to warn the nurse to be gentle with jabbing her fingers into my port site. She seems to have gotten complacent and not realizing we are still healing. The stick itself didn't hurt. I already had 3.4 cc's in my band I wasn't aware of. They added 1 cc. I'm 2 pounds ahead of their plan for me.

    Stomach Exercise?

I exercised regularly before being banded so I'm no stranger to working out. I'm 4 weeks post op and I'm only doing the recumbent bike and sometimes the elliptical for now
  22. I'd wait to do both and stop complaining about my breasts until then to lessen annoying the hubby since he was encouraging you to go asap

    Hungry Every 2-3 Hours

I am 4 weeks out. Back on solids. I would eat about every 3 hours, egg drop soup, broth, baked potato soup, jello, now my hunger is almost what it was before surgery. I go for a fill Thursday. I don't really feel like I'm in "bandster hell" though.
