My Food Funeral.
The only problem is.. They gave me choices of Isopure and Iso100 as my ONLY protein choices...I mentioned Unjury and she said the reason they chose Isopure is because it has zero carbs zero sugar... Which equals death, apparently. She did look at my BMI and said since its lower than most pts if I really couldn't stand the Isopure I could use Unjury.., well I'd have to order that online and I kinda don't have time for that... So I bought some premier shakes from Costco and their nutritional value is similar to Unjury so hopefully she's ok with that. *sigh*

My Food Funeral.
Just an update on this: Bought my supplies I'm going to need for my upcoming pre-op diet...Isopure protein powder...vanilla flavored...absolutely awful. I literally cried after I drank it, because it was so awful. $50 down the drain. Pissed. I bought some Premier ready to drink shakes at Costco...I hope my doctor let's me drink this instead...it's at least tolerable. If they don't okay it, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Can't seem to wrap my head around drinking something so putrid...everyone cross your fingers for me.

My Food Funeral.
Thanks for the encouraging words everyone I'm gonna miss it! Right now I'm running around doing errands with my fiancé and this Texas heat in combination with my fat suit is rendering me useless

My Food Funeral.
Well, last nite I had my food funeral with some friends. I will be starting my liquid diet for pre-op on Monday, and decided I'd like to go out with some friends, eat some good Mexican food...have way too many margaritas, and just soak it up while I can. Everyone wore black...and it was awesome. Definitely glad I did it. I'm going to truly miss food...but i'm not going to miss what it does to me. I won't miss this fat suit that i've been wearing for so long...it's for the birds. I'm probably going to have a mini-food funeral with my mom today...and then one last hoo-rah tomorrow. This is going to suck! But, it must be done.

My Lovely Pre-Op Diet...
Yeah I asked if I had any other choice other than Isopure or Iso100 for pre-op, and they said they prefer I do that because it's zero carbs zero sugar...she did say though if I absolutely can't stand it I could substitute with unjury, but I'd have to order that and I don't really have the time

My Lovely Pre-Op Diet...
Thanks for the replies so far! Looks like i'm stuck with the Isopure, at least for pre-op. My bariatric coordinator said I could mix it with Crystal light.. So I'll see what I have to work with. My biggest issue is, apparently I can't have anymore than 2g carbs in one meal sitting...I'm hoping that'll be easier than it seems!

My Lovely Pre-Op Diet...
Well I start my pre-op diet Monday. I'll be following it up until my surgery, which is the following Monday the 20th. Here's what I have to do: No Carbs, no sugar...(basically nothing, right?) Maximum of 1200 Calories per day (she said I don't have to reach this, and I shouldn't be surprised if I only get like 400-500 per day) Can't drink more than four "shakes" per day. My only Protein choices (for the shakes, i guess) is Isopure and ISO100. There's also a list of Clear liquids that I can choose from, and I can have unlimited amounts apparently... sugar free popsicles Sugar free Jello Crystal Light Chicken/Beef broth coffee (no milk or cream) Tea She said I could use SILK, soy "milk" I guess?...I can also use Splenda. She did say since my BMI is lower than most of the patients they deal with (mine is 43) if I just can't stand the Isopure when I try it, I can use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. Soooo, we'll see. Anyone had an absolute awful time with Isopure? Which one tastes best?...P.S., feel sorry for my fiance and everyone else in my path while I'm on this torturous pre-op diet!

Having A Hard Time Emotionally
I'm sorry you're having such a tough time right now! I fear experiencing this...but I know there's nothing that can be done to avoid it...food has been such a big part of our lives, it's bound to be traumatizing when it's abruptly taken away from us. Good news is, you won't be on your current diet forever. You'll get to chew soon! Although it'll be only a small fraction of what you could before, hell, I'll take it. Hang in there!! I'll be on your side of the bench soon.

Tomorrow...
I'm seeing my surgeon for pre-op consult. We're going to set a date for the surgery (hoping for the week of the 20th, but will take sooner if offered!) Just so excited, scared, relieved, inquisitive, determined....*sigh* I could probably go on for days. I'm just ready. I'm ready for this weight to be taken off of my shoulders...figuratively and literally. I can't wait to be sitting on the losers' bench with all of you post-op'ers.

Working On The Essentials...
The reason they do the *however long* preop diet (mine is 2 weeks) is to shrink the liver prior to surgery, usually.

Working On The Essentials...
When I went to see the psychologist that was required by my doctor, it was someone that worked closely with his patients on a regular basis for pre-WLS. The conversation wasn't lengthy, he asked me about myself...and I told him. And then he gave me a 165 question quiz that basically tells him/the surgeon what kind of patient I will be...basically am I fit emotionally and psychologically to have such a life altering surgery, and will I follow post-op instructions, etc. Other than that, he didn't delve into other aspects of my personal life too much. As far as the pre-op diet, I haven't started mine yet..I'm seeing my surgeon on Thursday and hopefilly I will get my surgery date (hoping for week of the 20th this month!) and will start it soon. However, the plan your NUT made you sounds maybe like a pre-pre-op diet? If that makes sense? lol. They want you to get down 20lbs before you're okay to have surgery, but they're just altering the way you intake your calories...It seems like most doctors ACTUAL like "2 weeks before surgery" preop diet is really strict and consists of liquids only, (i know some doctors are probably different..) anyway, looks like they're just wanting to get you down to a healthier bracket of weight before they do surgery on you. you probably do have another more intense pre-op diet that will start a couple week before your surgery. Good luck!!

Going to see my surgeon for my pre-op appointment next Thursday and I will be setting a surgery date then! Hopefully for 2 weeks after that! Just so elated right now!!!- Revised Goal Or Giving Up? W/ Pics
Ummmm for one, you look amazing! I'd kill to have your height/weight proportion. Yeah you're "overweight"...your BMI is like 2 points over being "normal"....I'd say if you're comfortable where you are, then don't stress yourself out about losing anymore weight. I mean, of course don't completely lose all self control...but don't be a nazi about it either.- This Is Going To Be Legend....
Lol!!! I'm glad someone caught that! Thank you!- This Is Going To Be Legend....
