  1. See, I knew you guys would understand!! Lol. Sleeve doesn't found funny to me yet. Yet.
  2. I think about the surgery off and on all day but this made me giggle at myself. I've watched so many videos of the surgery procedure, etc. That when I saw the stomach on this picture, it made me think of the surgery. And I envision three fourths of it being cut off, ha ha
  3. Awesome!! I wonder if I can get my husband on a bike.
  4. Aw, I hate to hear that for you!! I know that feeling also, of cringing at myself in the mirror. I still do! What about starting smaller, maybe! I'm 234 lbs and even though I'd love to be in a 10, I think I may go out and purchase a pair of 14's. I don't know what size I can get into with my med bones and my child bearing hips. Hehe. If I bought a 10 and came to realize its not a healthy attainable weight for my frame, I think that might depresse again. I think you will do fabulous!!
  5. Oh, I thought I replied to this!! Thank you all do much for reaching out. I'm actually kindof embarrassed that I posted all this woe is me stuff. I'm off the pitty pot now and have decided to go ahead and start eating healthy and get more active. Noone says I can't lose weight but me and I have decided not to believe that lie. It will take hard work and commitment but I'm not waiting. The whole point was to change my ways right? What better time to start than now? Im really happy to hear over and over that the 6 mos will fly. I'm sure it will. In a year I'll be sitting back wondering what in the world I was whining about.
  6. I have a lot of those same thoughts. But I sure would have an easier time doing low carb or any sensible eating plan if I got full quicker and wasn't always starving. Sure, I still have to differentiate between real and head hunger and make healthy choices, but it will be a lot easier after surgery. Emlefie, That was great!! Are you at goal? 12 miles is incredible!!
  7. I. Love. This. Thread. So much truth and awesomeness.
  8. Lol you're silly. I was just thinking that since sometimes its harder for a vegan to get their Protein especially, I didn't know if it would work with this, since we have to eat protein first. When I ate Raw vegan a couple years ago I had a lot of green smoothies. there is supposed to be a lot of protein in Spinach, but I don't remember exactly how much. I can probably put a lot of Protein powder into my smoothies also, I love vanilla pea protein powder. I'm not eating a vegan diet right now, but ultimately I would love to be sleeved and vegan
  9. Can a vegan get the sleeve?
  10. this is my one last thread that i want to start, to make ABSOULUTELY POSITIVELY SURE that I want the sleeve, and not something else. there is one other technique that i'm interested in, but id like to hear from to veteran sleevers (or whoever really) to see if anyone ever wishes they'd gotten a different surgery. It's the DS that has peaked my interest.
  11. If I didn't have 6 children who need me day and night, I wouldn't be able to drag my big butt out of bed. I was fully ready to head on down to MX and self pay- and as most of you probably know, stuff happened and I wasn't able to pay for it anymore. Now I'm going the insurance route, and it's just going to take so long. I know, 6 months isn't the end of hte world, but it sure feels like it when I was going to have surgery june 4th and now I have to wait until around Cmas time. I'm really fighting with my depression. I'm supre cranky at the thought of having to be this big for 6 more months. I suppose I'll be losing a little bit, but I'm not trying super hard at this supervised diet thing- I've never stuck to a diet more than 4 mos because I just cave and eat a ton of food and all the wrong foods of course. I don't want to moan and whine, I dont want to feel sorry for myself, but I do. and Honestly, this surgery is about all i can think about, day and night. I think about it to fall asleep even. you could say I'm hyper focusing. I don't want to screw the next 6 mos up. I dont even go to my pcp untl this Friday- the shrink next Monday. I NEED this weight off, and asap. As far back as I can remember, I have felt bad about myself. It's hard not to when you can't find cute clothes for yourself, and when you find halfway inexpensive mens tshirts, you have to pay 3.00 more because your body requiresmore fabric than smaller people. I will have to go through another entier summer being fat. I saw the light at the end of hte tunnel, and as I've said before, tha light is so tiny now. I have thought of 101 ways I could go about getting htis surgery sooner, and i just keep hitting dead ends. i just want to eat, sleep, and do days without a shower. I just thought maybe you guys would understand. sorry if this is hard to understand, kids need me so i'm typing super fast, and probably not thining everything all the way through. i did switch to lamictal from effexor and hopefully that will help. i just dont have anything nice to wear, and really- i watn to refuse to purchase anything to cover this fat ugly body. :/
  12. I hope no one minds me rabbit trailing a little but: Did you guys have to do the 6 months of dr supervised diet? Do you have I write everything down, or what? I imagine every dr is different in what they want you to do, bit what was your 6 mos like!?
  13. Well on glad someone's happy for me, hehe.
  14. Yes!!!!!! Dr. Roger de la torre He's in network, has good reviews and is so close to home!! I'm so excited! It's a center of excellence whatever that means sounds good, lol. Now I start my 6 month process. I might be sleeved for Christmas!
  15. Think it would be wonderful if I got sick every time I ate refined sugar! It's a major weakness of mine and i think this would help. Remind me why I don't want rny?
  16. Oh gosh I'm sp afraid this will happen to me!!!!
  17. Yep, I feel the same way only my surgery is much farther away. (jealous). I have 6 kids, ages 10,8,6,5,3,6m. They need mama. But I don't like the quality of mama they are getting now. I figured that it's more likely I'm going to get into a car accident, or get cancer, etc. We need to be all that we can be for our children, and we are doing this for the right reasons.
  18. you're right lori- off to read the article.
  19. Hi- I'm not having surgery that day but I love in mo and would live to talk to you. I'm trying to find a dr that takes our insurance. BCBS of MI, PTO
  20. Artsy not rt. my phone did that.
  21. RT, our stories are so similar, all the way down to the hCG
  22. im sorry if this doesn't make much sense. i had everyone multi quoted and when i hit send it wouldn't let me send. i couldn't figure out why, so i just deleted the people i quoted. hopefully you can figure out who im talking to. Hey- thanks for joining in! My journey hasn't really started yet. I was going to self-pay (MX) but some things fell through financially, so I'm having to take the insurance route. I'm going to talk to my pcp this coming Friday and start the journey. I don't want to be dishonest, but I seriously do not think I can stick to any diet for 6 months. the longest I've done a diet was 4 months. I lost 60 lbs. I can do a diet, i can lose weight, but I never stick with anything long term, and I gain it all back I hope I don't have to write everything I eat, because I know most i cannot stick to a strict plan for 6 whole months with a normal sized stomach. i just get so hungry! my main problem is there doesn't seem to be a vsg dr that takes BCBS of MI. I'm in MO, if anyone wants to try to help me find one. I called the ins company twice. the first lady told me there were 3 dr's 3 miles from me. i called them and they only do the band. I do NOT wantt he band. I called the ins company again and the guy gave me 3 dr's that are gastrointerologists. *sp* thanks for nothing bcbs dude. yikes. I'm 5'3, 235 lbs and my bmi is 41.4, - actually it depends on the day- I consider myself 5'4 so at that height, my bmi is 40.1. but when i'm fatter and back up to the wall to be measured, my butt sticks out so i have to arch my back and it makes me shorter, rofl. sooooo.. who knows what height they will go by. lol.. I'm so excited. I really never thought this would be an option for me for one reason or another and to almost see that light at the end of the tunnel, it feels amazing.. I really think this is the answer God is showing me so clearly. It's a little bit scary- I know of hte risks etc, and I'd be leaving behind my dh and 6 precious children who are 10 and under. I really have faith that it will all work out and I will finally shine. I am really not being the perosn I was created to be. I can't fit into clothes easily- I never want to go out because I tire easily and especially in the summer. my hind end is so big it's embarrassing- I literally knock things over with it. ROFL. I MAKE JOKES about it, but it's neally not funny and my self esteem is super low. I wear mens tshirts and the sleeves hang to my elbows (below really) and it's so hot. i have to pull my shirt down 400x a day. my shirts cost 4.00 more because they are made with more fabric. it's hard to find clothes in our sizes at thrift stores that look decent and aren't mumus or just plain ugly. I never want to be intimate with my husband - and I'm not. (ok we have 6 kisd, rofl- we are VERY fertile together, lol- all he has to do is stand next to me and i'm pregnant ) I'm sure everyones list is the same or similar- i'm just kindof getting some of that out. it feels good to talk about it. i'm not feeling sorry for my self necesarily- i did this to myself, but i haven't always bene like this. i was thinner in my teen years. since having babies back to back, i've gained so much and it's so hard to lose etc. anyway- I('d type more but i'm needed. woohoo! all of you are at the end of your 6 months, lol.. oh I can't wait to hear! it is nervewracking- good way to put it. 6 months seems so long, but I've been pregnant 6 times, and all of those pregnancies (looking back, anyway) flew by, and they are 9 months, obviously. 6 months is nothin compared to that! oh no!? eat a lot of donuts? I'm just teasing- I'd never suggest you get more unhealthy to get healthy.. or would I? hm. I hope they approve it! thanks for joining I love to hear all about everyones journey! Hopefully this thread will help pass everyones time also. Oh you're a shoo in! how exciting!!! I'm sorry you didn't lose weight better, naturally though. Surgery really is a brave and tough decision! thank you for saying that! I, too, am a instant gratification type of girl. I will pay more moneyt o have things shipped in one day rather than wait a few days. I have amazon prime, rofl. I'm glad it flew by. like I said- my pregnancies flew by, so this will too! 6 months is easy compared to 9 months... 6 times, lol. I'm so excited for you!!! praying! yes, me too, for you! You need to be able to take a deep breath of relief! praying for you as well. ] Yeah- we've been overweight this long- we can wait 6 more months, huh? I'm so glad to hear from so many of you that are at the end of the6 months who talk about how nice it was to really mentally prepare for it and how fast the time flew etc. <3
  23. for insurance? How far along are you? what's your story? I dont know if this will take off, but it'd be nice if we could use this as a place to encourage one another, discuss waht we are going through, etc. Wanna?
  24. Well good news. Or not? I bought scales and I actually weigh 10 lbs more than I thought!!! I never thought I'd be happy to say that I weigh 234 lbs lol. I'm having a heck of a time finding surgeons in my area that do the sleeve
  25. hello and welcome! I as going to be self pay but now am trying to find dr's in my state that take our ins and do the sleeve. I too, have to do a 6 month supervised diet if I want to have wl surgery, and I'd love to know what exactly they do that for? are they trying to prove that you can't lose? cuz i'd have to either lie, or lose, cuz i DO lose weight. I just have a hard time keeping it off. or is it just to make you healthier or something? what is the purpose?
