2feelgood: please read up on bands before you make a decision. I had my sleeve in2012 at age 50. I was scared too but more scared of where I was heading. I have no regrets and it's become a way of life now. Good luck.

Yes! Loose skin everywhere. I look like I'm melting
Even crinkly wrinkly calves!! Oh well....it's ok. The worst part for me is my falling face and neck. Ugh!

Hello 50's Sleevers! I was sleeved LAST year 10/25/12. Wt loss slower than i'd hoped but i'll take it. Sometimes I see new pic or when wearing new outfit, and wonder WHO is this person?!?! Never been this small. Almost no wt loss for over 4 months now. So frustrating! But, Need to get back on track and drink Water, etc. hair still falls out from time to time.
No regrets! Hope to get in the 190's eventually.

Minky and Brandy, keep up the good work! Us 2012'ers have to hang in there and hang tough!!! BTW I have not exercised at all due to my bad back. I'd hoped to be one of those that lost the hunger sensation, but as soon as I healed it came back. Ugh. So difficult! I'm either stuffed or starving all the time.

I imagine everyone is different. I don't think anyone goes bald. My hair was long and thick. It fell out in the house, on my clothes, and tons in shower and hairbrush. No one could tell by looking at me, though. I still have one spot by left temple that's thin but it's not noticeable. It's a minor inconvenience considering the benefits you'll get. I cut it so it would not be so messy, and to help my saggy face!

I have OA in knees and lower back. Before VSG I could hardly get out of bed, and then have to sit on edge of a different, lower bed to get dressed. That has ended, but, knees still hurt sometimes and I have to be careful with them. Back still has a lot of problems and i'm currently getting shots in joints for it, but they don't help. I'd hoped it would disappear but that's not the case. Hate to think how bad off i'd be had I not lost 80+ lbs!! Celebrex is not helping.

OK girls....i keet hoping i wouldn't have to ask this, but ....
Is anyone losing pubic hair????? My VSG was Oct 2012, i'm down 85 lbs. In months 3-5 my head hair was falling out quite a bit, then almost stopped. Head hair started coming out again, just slightly, a cpl mos ago. Pubes started coming out around the same time. I do get enough Protein but not grt at taking vits.
I'm wondering if this is sleeve related or menopause?!?? I have no symptoms of meno. But do know that estrogen is stored in fat, and wondered if now that i am less fat, meno is starting?? My gyno appt is coming up in a cpl months but thought i'd check here first. Thank you.

Hi, I just came up with this and it's good. Nice change from milky shakes.
Adjust ingredients to taste:
1/2 scoop unjury strawberry powder
1 SF Luigi's real italian ice cup...lemon flavored
1 pkt sweetener
6 ice cubes
1 tsp pink lemonade crystal light powder
1 cup Water
Put ice, Water, crystal lite, sweetener in blender. Loosen Luigi's lemon ice out of the container by running warm water over bottom of it. Pop it into the blender. Mix on high ice crush setting until mixed. Then add Unjury, mix on low until blended.

I think i posted here before but will update, and hope to inspire those feeling like "slow losers"! My VSG was 10/25/12.
My Dr has been very happy with my loss at each appt, saying 7-10 lbs a month for VSG is very good. Started at sz 22/24 and now, sz 16's are LOOSE! Go figure! Being heavy my ENTIRE life i cannot believe my clothing sizes are going down like this! I wish I was one of the "100 lbs in 4 months" girls but it just isn't happening. Hey, at least we're LOSING slowly but surely. One day we'll step on the scale and be at GOAL!! Best wishes to all as we continue our journey.

Month 9 anniv was 7/25. Since then, i've floated between 220 and 223. We'll see where i'm at on M10!! not expecting much because 8/25 is right around the corner. was glad to read abt the lady that took 18 mos to goal, i dont feel like the "only" one! I've been freaking out a little...hoped to get to 190's by 1 yr mark but starting to think I may not make it. Honestly i'd be thrilled to be 199!!! I remember school weigh in, 6th grade (shoot me NOW)- i weighed 208. Never below that again, and i'm now 51. Oh BTW...The freak outs just make me eat more! Welcome to cRazY ToWn!!!!

Can't see mine anymore if i'm standing, but if i bend over, there is one on the larger upper right scar. It sinks it pretty far. BTW this one was also very sore for a while after surg.

Heather, i'm hourglass. Dont know what fruit that equates to!! My SW in oct was 300 so it took me 9 mos to get to 220.
I dont exercise per se, other than walk dog, because my back is bad. And i'm 51, which prob doesnt help either. I hope to be in 190's by nov 1 but at this rate i'm thinking i may not make it.

Is this "Neurontin"? If yes... I've never taken it but my dad did. He took mega doses...like 8 caps per day for neuropathy. He lost his insurance and the pills are very expensive. So he just STOPPED taking them. It was a disaster, had to call 911.
I think it's a drug you have to wean off of. Just an FYI for those taking it...you may want to ask abt this or look into it.

Jhood: I went to the seminar dead set on band. The dr barely mentioned sleeve, but mainly pushed bypass or band. On my own research I felt band was a NO for me, it sounds so easy (removable!) but there are downsides when you read up on it. Didn't want my intestines messed with, so this left sleeve. It's funny because in the seminar when they showed diagram of sleeve I thought OMG you must be kidding!!! No way in h*ll!! Fast forward...my WLS was Oct 2012 @ 300 lbs, age 50. Did I lose 100 lbs in 4 mos? NO. Am I now a size 8? NO. Is my arthritis and body pain better? YES. Do I wish I'd done this sooner? YES. Best of luck to you and others with the decision. It's one you have to make on your own.
