HI anyone who is living in my state NJ and who has UHC of NJ. Please give me some info on how it works. First off, I was searching and searching for a drs. office that would help me out. No one went the exta mile.In this case it was different, and i picked at random, a place in New Jersey, i don't know if they work with the insurance company but... the place i picked was called Bariaactric Ecxcellence something to that effect. And well, i got an email i do have this in my insurance . It is a matter of a deductible i ahve to maintain of $750.00 and at admission $500. The procedure would be, 80% paid and the copay would be like i stated 500 bucks! What i would like to know is: Are there any perequistes i need to do what to expect. If anyone out there.. knows please tell me. Do i need to get my PCP involved ectra. She told me to call her for an appt with Dr.. I am scared of what to expect, i feel lightheaded..lol wow! Any feedback..please Thanks!

Hi Everyone! I wanted to find out if, being self-pay here in the US, does it include EVERYTHING - hospital or? There are extra fees included? Or is it different elsewhere? I am trying to get some financing and at first i called the doc, the lady said 300 up front and it will be divy up with the cost of the surgery when financed/ Another questions will the office help one out with financing?I was pressed for time and i didn't have a chance to find out. any feedback greatly appreciated.

If all goes well i would love to know someone that is going there to do the same as well. Not that i don't trust mexico there are good/bad doc everywhere. These people are smart and know theier stuff just like doc here in the USA. I just wouldn't want ot be alone. Wish me luck!

Ok now all you who are going ot Mexico to do this vsg procedure...how do you go about it. ? I am thinking of doing this. I heard there are low prices but..then $$$ i went to apply for one but got one that wants $$ from me? That is soo wrong I want ot do the procedure asap like most of you and well, with Dr Garcia. How do i literally go about this? Like you all i want o live again after all these years of taking care of others I feel in my bones it is time to take care of ME! For a change At the mmoent dh is thee only one working i go to school . Looking for any job but here is nothing out there! What a sour day todya.. just finished speaking with my dh' company and they have two insurances, though she did not know if they if Sleeve or any other related procedures were , in fact in the plan, so she toldl me to call UHC. She told me if i wanted to switch i will have to wait till January So when i called UHC, the rep told me neither plan has any obesity related policies I asked her if i could appeal it and she said . Neither plan has it so what is the use? I have an appt for this week to see the surgeon, I thought i check before i head there I also left an email to the cooridnator a the office see what she ahs to say. I was hoping ot get on this journey this year... anyone with any iinfo please let me know. Thanks!

Well i am praying for us both as well. It really stinks.. I think that should be suffiecient for UHC . everyone is different for tothers it may be one illness and that can be High blodd pressure It depends. For me the at the surgeon's office told me one illness and it will go thru.Th ough each indiivdula is different But that is waht she told me. Plus BMI. At any rate i hope UHC unbuckles and let people choose to have thier options and let them do waht is best for them.afterall we are the ones who are working day day .our spouses. These is really ridiculous and if Medicare is jumping on the bandwagon for WLS why is UHC choice Plus giving us problems let the policy thru!!

Hi Artasy. It is a place where you are told to go when UHC approves Dr's and all that stuff. In order to aid you into your WLS. Committed has more info than i do. But if youa re really intrersted you can call UHC see what the rep tells you.

Artsy what typef of UHC you have? I ahve ChoicePlus. It sucks! The lady at the office told me to two things i can do.. one switch to another UHC insurane inwhich i have to call dh' company to see wht they say OR SELF PAY! I don't know as to what process i will go thru if it ever takes off the ground! But i know all forms have to be in before he sees me . I am praying something goes off and i can get the ball rolling I did call UHC headquarters and they do start you if one is not familiar with Center of Excellence like Committed stated before Hope all works out for you keep us posted!!

Well I just finished talking to someone at my dh's job and well i have to wait till Monday when the person who is in charge gets back. I hope they can switch his insurance. Pray for me people and all others who are in the similar situation. Thanks for letting me VENT!!!

Well the coordinator called me just a few minutes ago She said if the insurance won't budge to pay...then she can refer me to self-pay companies that will help me with the payments. I don't think dh will likely go for that! At the moment i am unemployed yes it sucks!!! I really am stuck ...here i need to change want to change but I have no clue what to do. I am sooooooooooo frustrated it is not even funny!!!

So i get n email from the Patient Coordinator telling me that if a patient has a very high BMI I am a canidate. So she set me up for an appt for the 26th she moved it forward from the 3rd of may. Anyone out there in WLS land think this is a positve foot forward into the RIGHT direction? I jsut have to fax her the forms she sent me last time and the ngo in for the consult. any feedback please let me know! Thanks

Well an update. I called UHC and they told me they DON'T cover this procedure. So I emailed the office where i was going to go for my consult. I ahve heard nothing thus so far. What the UHC rep told me was to call HR at my DH's job but the perosn was not there. I knkow every November you get a chance to enroll in another insurance policy But like the UHC told me it depends what the OWNER of the company would put in. So, i don't know if these people at he consult would help me appeal it as i knkow many people have gottne thru to it with that. I also asked about teh Center of Excellence which is true ..though for people who already have a policy with the procedure. I am jsut praying something comes out good out of this. I am 5'6 253lbs. HP .BMI 41.6 . So I pray things turn out better.
