  1.    wnnd reacted to a post in a topic: The Thing About Artificial Sweeteners......
  2. use egg whites only - hard boiled. I use miricle whip.... just a tiny bit. Right now can't have raw onion so I use onion powder and some mustard to flavor it up.
  3. I am one of the freaky ones.... I experienced virtually no pain. My Doc did a great job of removing most of the gas they pumped in me and said that I flew through surgery. I started walking the day of surgery.... 5 days after surgery I walked a mile and have been walking a mile every day since. Hard to explain why everyone is so different.... but we are.... so like everyone said, listen to your body and take the pain meds as needed, It can only get better!
  4. I completely understand! my surgeon is allowing me to have cream based Soups and yogurts (with no chunks of fruit) so I have a bit of a choice....
  5. I am 5 days out and having sugar free carnation instant breakfast, sugar free jello and puddings, cream soups (strained if needed), plain yougurt with strained fruit (or natural no sugar added peach sauce, apple sauce, etc) I can have small curd cottage cheese too. For protien drinks I really like the designer whey brand powder and Akins.
  6. Thanks everyone! I am so grateful that I feel so good so soon. It can onlyget better from here!
  7. I had my surgery on the 21st. I have been lucky! I was up and walking the same day, my pain level hasn't gone above a 2 (if that) and I have had worse cramps I think. My question is.... is it normal to not feel hungry or even full? I am eating the 2 ounces of recommended food 5 times a day, but I could take it or leave it... I don't feel hungry and after eating I don't feel full. Is that normal? Thanks!
  8. Surgery Tuesday morning....up and walking Tuesday afternoon, walked all day Wednesday in hospital. Pain level never went above a 2 at the most! Home and feeling great! Hope everyone else is doing as well!
  9. Don't the surgeons remove the gas that they pump in? Wouldn't that make it less uncomfortable?
  10. I did the same thing.... started the protein shakes 2 months before I needed to. I wanted to experiment and find the right powder/drink. I am now "officially" on the 7 day pre-op diet of 2 shakes and a light dinner diet and it is a breeze!
  11. I'm also scheduled for the 21st in Boston, Ma. area. Let the journey begin! I am on a 7 day 2 protein shakes a day and a small dinner diet.
  12. I started the sleeve process at the end of April and just got my surgery date for August 21st! Insurance approved and ready to go!
  13. I'm new here too..... just had my first visit to the surgeon. My insurance doesn't require the 6 month precertification, but I am certain it will be a journey! My surgeon is out of Wellseley Newton hospital in the Boston area and he has a good strong background in sleeve surgery. I met with a nutritionist and psychiatrist as well as the surgeon. They asked me to lose 5 pounds (that seemed like a small amount of weight to lose) in the next month, keep a food journal, cut out soda completely, exercise 20-30 minutes a day and attend at least 2 more group meetings. I have another appointment on June 1st and I was told that if I do well, they will set a date. Very excited!!
  14. Elracimo, I have just finished the orientation at Newton Wellesley and plan on going to the next 2 classes offered over the next two weeks. I hope to schedule my first appointment with the surgeon soon! Is RYGP a gastric bi-pass? The reason I ask is that I had my entire large intestine removed due to Ulcerative colitis and because I have had surgery on my intestines, Gastric Bipass was ruled out completely (my first choice was the sleeve anyway!) I have what is commonly called a J-pouch (which is a recreation of a colon from the small intestine) Anyway, I am wondering if you have made any progress with a date and what you think of the process at Newton Wellesley? Thanks and hope things are better!
  15. From Southern NH too... not too far from Hudson actually, but a little east. I am just now starting out... I go to the informational semiar at Newton Wellesley on April 26th. Ckel70, maybe you can let me know how you like the program? How long did it take from start to surgery? I called my insurance company today and learned that they will cover the surgery and that the hospital is a participating hospital, so I just need to get started!
