  1. No problem...it's there to share, that's what it's all about!!!! As far as the fair goes...it's not about total denial. The YL BBQ sounds wonderful, and there's no way I would pass up a warm scone (it's once a year after all!) You modified, made some good choices and treated yourself. A treat here & there is not the end of the world, and can go a long way in curbing those all out loss of control binges. Sounds like you did great! Sue
  2. Mer... Are you headed to JoAnn by Tacoma Mall? I was thinking about stopping there too, probably about 4:30ish
  3. coastlgrl... the worst is over...just don't push too hard & you'll feel great soon.
  4. Mer... My DH is going to do the 5:30 kid shuffle, so I'm free after I do the 4:00 kid drop-off. I can meet at 5:00, we can walk then meet Wendy at 5:30 if that works for you. We can carpool down to St Joes, though it might be better to park the cars in St Joe's valet rather than mall parking? Anybody else heading to St Joe's support group tonight? Want to meet to walk? Coastlgrl... Maybe I missed it, but when was your banding? Recovery may seem to drag a little, but in no time you'll look back & say "that wasn't so bad" Sue
  5. Hey...Auntie Phyl...just noticed you signature line, great verse, one of my favorites (obviously, since I have it in my signature too). We all need that strength from time to time!!!
  6. 6:45 at St Joes I'm really looking forward to getting together tomorrow, it really helps me. Anybody want to walk before group (maybe Ruston or the mall if it's raining)? I am completely unmotivated on my own, I need the distraction of a buddy to gab with, then it's fun...not a chore!
  7. It sure helps when you wake up in the AM to find another pound gone. 2 more & I'm 1/2 way. I hate those "downer" days, guess those are the days I really need to rely on my friend the band, the internal motivation to walk away from the bag of chips. That's a big difference I'm seeing with the band over many other times I've tried to loose weight. Like 99% of us, getting started on loosing is not the problem, it's sticking with it. I'm confident this is the tool I need to continue eating right, even when the emotions are screaming for a bag of chips.
  8. I'm planning on St Joe's on Monday too. Maybe we can meet before. I've only made one meeting in the last couple months and I feel like I need to get in touch. Emotions are sure all over the board lately. Sometimes I feel fabulous, feel like I really making progress and excited about the future, other times not so much. I struggle with "It takes so long...tired of being hungry...will I make it...will it last...is there a huge plateau around the corner". Dealing with TOM today with a massive headache, and REALLY want to munch. This is just the kind of evening I would have medicated with a bag of chips! I guess I'll go to bed...gggrrrrrrrrrrr (that was my tummy)
  9. I had a couple NSV tonight. I want to a class at my church and ran into an old friend (hadn't seen in 15 years). I got a "you look great...haven't changed" if she only knew. I love the idea that I'm back where I was 15 years ago! Oh, and I sat in the meeting and crossed my legs...1st time in 14 years (before my last baby).
  10. Wendy has a tea...Smooth Move I think, worked great for her
  11. I don't think we were THAT slow!!! We'll pick it up next time!!!
  12. Mer... I've been spending all day cleaning out my bedroom, every little inch. Getting rid of STUFF! But even though I'm in a "get rid of it mood, I'm always up for a girl's day out!!! PS...finally down a pound today! I've seen only 2's (222) for 11 days. No that the plateau was soooo long, but i was so tired of 2's! By the way, I ate a little more the last 2 days, that seems to break my palteaus...hard to believe, but it works!!!
  13. Dana... Best advice I can give... chew chew chew and then chew some more. I've not had any problems with anyfood that I chew carefully. Just sit back and slowly enjoy your food.
  14. I sampled them once, very good! I never checked to see nutritional info.
  15. Mer... I didn't think you could stay away from the sewing, I know you love it too much! What's the interview? Dawn... Congrats on the NSV. I did have my ring sized a while back, and the other day at work i knocked my hand on the desk and it fell off...guess I'll have to size it down soon I'm not stretch my shirts anymore either!!!
  16. Mer... You're so close, I'm so happy for you! I had gotten to a point that I never thought I'd see 199, but I know I will...You're just around the corner! As far as I know there is a meeting on Monday. Mer, you didn;t hear anything about it being cancelled did you? We can sho up and if there isn't anyone else there we can do our own meeting or go walking. We could call too, but that's no fun!
  17. See you there! There's a meeting this Monday at 6:45 if you can make it, just pull up to the front (free valet) and head downstairs to the cafeteria. Sometimes the room changes, it's either the room on the left just before you enter the cafeteria, or you walk all the way throught the cafeteria to the meeting room on the far side. Giving us the meeting rooms on either side of the cafeteria is kind of cruel, especially for those on liquids!!!
  18. Wendy...Can't believe how fast you're flying...so cool! My scale is full of 2's EVERY morning, I hate these plateaus, even the little ones
  19. Hi, I'm one of Wendy's friends that she mentioned, banded by Dr Oh on May 24th. I am very happy with my choice to have the surgery and my surgeon. My fills have both been done by Dr Hirai, very gentle and painless. Getting involved in support group is a must in my book. I like this on-line talk and the St Joes support group. Everybody's different, but I need to talk with others who are going through it too, share frustrations and victories...keeps me motivated! What area do you live in? The support groups that meet are a great source of information. Real people who are living it now...ther's no better place to learn! Sue
  20. Bandit... I'm not sure what kind of meds you take, but many banders go off of a good deal of their pre-band meds. Meds for things like diabetes & high blood preasure often aren't needed after surgery. Chewable vitamins are in my opinion a must, we all need to make sure we're getting basic vitamins, and the chewables are easy, cheap and taste pretty good. I did mix a few meds into applesauce to swig down right after banding, but now my pills are eathier small or chewables. They suggest chewable Tylenol, but I just pop the capsules in half, like Wendy mentioned...no problem.
  21. I hit 50# this AM...time for a treat, maybe a new shirt or a SF NF Decaf Starbucks (pricey colored water) Last couple of days I decided to get a couple new pairs of pants. I have to put on 2-3 pairs each morning to find one that will fit, then 1/2 way through the day that pair is hanging. I had to go to the regular women's department!!! I actually had to stop myself from gravitating to the Plus department...those clothes don't fit!!! NSV...My DH (160# soaking wet) sat down on the edge of the bed last night and the side rail (oak) broke (I couldn't help it, I had to giggle). If it would have been me I would be sure it was my fat old butt, I would have felt soooo defeated...but it wasn't me!!! :whoo: LOL LOL LOL
  22. Dawn... Meeting was good, Laura was back, lots of talk on protien, carbs, diet and the variability of different doctor's instructions. Helps me to gather information on what's right for ME and encouragement and motivation to succeed
  23. St Joe's support group is at 6:45. Go to the front entrance (free valet) then follow signs (downstairs) to the cafeteria. It's the last door on your left before you enter the cafeteria. Why they have to out us right next to the cafeteria I simply don't understand! Even hospital food smelled good when I was on liquids! I have to say that lately I've been pleased with the lack of craving for starches. I'm at work and decided to have one a "lien cuisine" that I keep in the freezer (keeps me from running out for fast food). I thought I'd treat myself to a Pasta dish (I usually get meat & veggie dishes). The pasta is OK, but really can't say it adds anything special to the meal, I think I like my meat & veggies better. I truly enjoy the "fillings" that go on the pasta or in the bread better than the pasta/bread itself :car: But I do still miss the salty foods! I try to keep it to a few nuts to stay away from those chips I love!
  24. Yes, i was just logging on to ask if anyone is going MER...DAWN...PINENUT Hope to see you tonight. :car: PINENUT...are you out there, haven't heard from you in a while
  25. I'm trying to remember the last time I did some serious walking, if I can't remember what day it was, it's been way too long...I need motivation!!!
