How Are All The May Sleevies Holding Up?

My surgery date is May 22nd at Johns Hopkins Bayview with Dr. Schweitzer. I don't have a pre-op diet, just liquids one day prior and nothing after midnight. However, I plan to do 2 soy protein shakes a day and a sensible meal (lunch) a week prior to surgery just to make things easier for us both lol.
  2. I'm nervous, scared, excited, and every other emotion there is. My doc doesn't require a 2 week liq diet, only 1 day prior and nothing after midnight but I think i'm still gonna do the liquids for at least a week. I just want to make sure everything is a wee bit smaller.
  3. Thanks for all the well wishes. I haven't heard from the surgeons office and didn't get a chance to call them (busy week at work). I will be calling bright and early Monday morning!
  4. i'm so sorry for the late response..still learning how to navigate this site lol. The steps actually depend on your insurance requirements. I have Aetna and they have two programs depending on where you are having your surgery. If you go to a center of excellence then you only have to do 3 months of nutrition classes, 1 individual appt with the nut, and the psych eval. The 6 month program requires 6 months of nutrition classes and the nut/psych appointments. Be sure to check with your insurance they may offer the same options. I just got my approval last week and i'm waiting for Dr. Schweiter's office to call me with my date.
  5. I completed all insurance requirements (Aetna) this time last year but loss my insurance when I switched employers and my new plan (still Aetna) did not cover bariatric surgery. This past January I went from contractor to permanant federal employee and chose Aetna. I called Johns Hopkins in the beginning of March in hopes of not having to start all over. Luckily, I didn't since it hadn't been quite a year since I finished so I just had to have a refresher with the nut (3/21) and the psych (3/29). My paper work was submitted to Aetna on 4/6 and I got my approval on 4/11. I talked to Hopkins today and my chart has to be reviewed by the nurse and I should get a call within 3-4 days with a surgery date:) I am oh so very scared but also very much excited to get er done!
  6. Hi, I'm a patient at Hopkins as well. Dr.Schweitzer will be my surgeon my paperwork was just submitted to Aetna last Thursday so I am anxiously awaiting approval and hoping for a date in May for my sleeve:) I actually completed all the requirements this time last year but changed employers and my insurance didn't cover bariatric surgery. I was praying I didn't have to start all over and luckily I only had to have a refresher with the nutrionist and psych which were scheduled on 3/21 & 3/29. I'm so nervous but very ready for this!!
