I am 39 years old, am married with 2 children who are 9 and 11. I work full time as an RN in which i work with the senior population in which i love. I have aquired many health issues since having my second child with the most devastating being Type 2 Diabetes. Before my surgery on 12/7/12, i was taking 4 shots of insulin and 3 pills just for the diabetes, not including the other 5 other pills for my co-morbidities. RNY gastric bypass was the option i chose in order to get healthy. The weight loss would just be a bonus. I am currently 3 weeks out from surgery and feel great. I have much more energy than prior. I do struggle with getting all of my protein requirements in, but am getting better with that. I am already down to only 1 shot of insulin at night and that's it! That excites me the most. I am also down 30#! I have to admit that feels great also. I'm looking forward to continuing onto the rest of my journey! I have no regrets about the decision i made....
