haute904 reacted to lellow in Experienced Bandsters 70+lbs- How Did You Do It?
If you click the link in my signature, it'll take you to a post I wrote a while ago about my own personal mindset wrt the band, and how I lost the weight. I am now in maintenance mode and I eat more than when I was losing, do not do any formal exercise (though I know other banders for whom formal exercise is something they continued to do) and find myself working not to lose anymore, as opposed to working not to gain, like I did all my life. I got down to about 117lbs mid last year and it did not look good on me, so now I make sure my weight doesn't fall below 130lbs.
I have a fair amount of ccs in my band - about 8.25 in a 10 cc band. However while I'm restricted, I am by no means too tight, and everyone is different. My dr says that of all his patients I am on the upper most scale of how much my band is filled, so obviously most people get there before they get 8.25cc's worth of fill.
I have never counted calories and I still don't, but I explain that in my post. Feel free to read it if you want.

Yes! I have lost over 90 lbs. I was banded at 21 cause I wanted to make this change for life. I used a student loan to pay for it which I will be paying off for years but I love being called healthy and even skinny. I love the fact that I workout now and don't feel like I am starving trying to lose weight. I am training for my first 5k which I could never had done at 300lbs

haute904 got a reaction from yvonne74 in For Thoses With A Surgery Date.....
I had lapband surgery on March 19, 2012....and I am so excited that my change has finally come. I am sore and this gas won't go away, but I wouldn't change anything !!!

I was banded on Monday. It went great. I'm glad I had the surgery when I did. My doctor found torn liver, hernia, some damage to my esophagus....This surgery saved me from alot of future pain and 3 additional operations. I feel better after surgery was rough...No gas,bm or shoulder pain, has anyone had this experience. I know the Bm would be a delay.

I was banded on March 9th as well! The swelling is starting to go down and it hurts less to move. I have attempted the scales yet but maybe on Friday (1 wk). I am happy with my decision to go with the band. I had so many trying to tell me that the band wasn't for me. I am ready to prove them wrong.
Good luck to everyone!!
