  1. So, my call came in this morning from the surgery nurse. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Monday morning. I guess this really is going to happen. I just found out I will have a On Q pain catheter inserted. I guess because I'm having a large hernnia repair a the same time. I don't know. I assumed it would be a morphine pain pump but as of this morning that isn't the case. I asked the nurse what this was and she said it was inserted directly into the site. From what I've read it is really good and most people feel no pain at all with this in. I have to be sure to remember to tell them to give me nausea medicine. OH boy... I'm nervous and excited. I'm sure I will blog again on Sunday night fretting about the surgery.. I've lost 13.2 pounds on the pre op so far. I guess I just might make the 15! Wish it had been more but I have really stuck to the diet except for twice which was boiled eggs and lettus... Has anyone had this On Q pain catheter before? If so, weigh in sleevers. I love y'all!!
  2. You are so funny about those pickles!! I think about having to be on two more weeks of liquid too after doing two weeks now for the preop. I'm not looking forward to it. I feel like I'm starving. I haven't been asked to do a preop thing yet. The hospital should be calling me tomorrow. So, I guess they will let me know. I don't know why they would because I don't have anything in me anyway but liquids... YUCK!
  3. Thank you! I'm so nervous and anxious but trying not to think about it. I know my surgeon puts his patients on blood thinners before and after surgery for 10 days, so I'm hoping It helps.
  4. Wow.. that sucks! As my husband says "insurance is organized crime!". I am now on my husbands group policy. I have a 2500.00 deductible. It hardly pays for anything. I don't think they can drop me as long as it is a group policy through a company but I may be wrong. Thanks so much for telling me though. I won't let them know anything. Hope they don't find out somehow!!
  5. Thanks guys...! Donnie, that makes me feel somewhat better
  6. I was just wondering if any self pay patients had any complications after surgery and if their insurance paid for it even if they had an exclusion on the surgery itself? I'm self pay as you all know and I'm so worried what I will do if I have complications. My family has put everything we have in this surgery financially. I know I should just call my insurance company but I don't even want to give them heads up that I'm having surgery. I know that may sound rediculous. Funny thing is they paid for my physc eval. Strange isn't it?
  7. Shelly I hope it gets better. I know it has to be terrible!
  8. Thanks Marina. It is so hard to stay in control. Is it easier after surgery?
  9. My surgery is Monday and I've heard nothing about it.
  10. Does everyone have to do this before surgery??
  11. Thanks Joni. I guess I'm just having a bad day. Blah! Be so happy to have this behind me. I've been drinking protein shakes but those aren't clear liquids. Should I do 48 of Clear liquids exempting the shakes?
  12. Thanks Randi...
  13. Not a good day for me. I actually cheated on my preop diet with two boiled eggs and lettus and this is the second time. Once last week as well. I am so worried that my liver will NOT shrink enough for surgery. That may sound rediculous but I have fatty liver disease and am just so scared that I'm going to be put under and wake up with no sleeve due to not keeping to the pre op diet exactly. I am so tired of these protein shakes, SF popsicles, SF jello, and broth! With that being said the up side is I've lost 11 pounds. I'd hope to lose more and still hoping for at least 15 before surgery. I'm anxious about the surgery more than usual today. I woke up this morning finding myself thinking about complications again. My father passed away of a pulmonary embolism brought on by surgery. I'm just scared. Nothing else to say. I know I have to do this and just wish these last few days would hurry and get over with. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am on Monday. My surgery is at 8:30 am. I worry about everything! Uggghhhh... Thanks for letting me vent. I'm grouchy, hungry and emotional!!! Can't stop the tears today.
  14. I'm so worried that if I cheat my liver won't shrink and my surgeon won't do the surgery! Man.. what would I give for a burger and fries right now!! Day 9 of preop.
  15. I'm having my surgery at Des Peres Hospital on Monday. My surgeon is Dr. Follwell. My insurance won't pay because there is an exclusion. I am self pay. I had to pay the surgeon up front 6,000.00. I'm financing the rest. I'm been approved for the loan and they just have to figure out how to bill the card... lol They aren't so sure. I've been around and around with the hospital about the financing. Still not too sure how it will work. I'm waiting for them to call me for pre registration to get the rest of the details lined out. Here it is a week away and I've not heard from them. I'm kind of worried about it but trying to not think about it. I want to get this done. I'm a medical biller also. Most of these hospitals want everything up front. Sad but true!
  16. Good Luck and congratulations! Share you experience when you feel up to it. My surgery is Monday.
  17. Did he say how high is too high before freaking out?? I wonder why this surgery causes this. I've heard a few people talk about it before and couldn't believe it. Good luck and keep us posted.
  18. I'm borderline too. I have't had my surgery yet. It's on Monday. I've been kind of worried about that because I've notice that my sugar levels aren't really going down that much since I've been on this pre op diet. No sugar or carbs what so ever. I think I would definately call your doctor. If close to 300 that could be dangerous.
  19. Congratulations Amy!!
  20. Thank you so much Christy. You are so right. I don't have control. God does and I tell you, I've been praying about this for a long time. I know he's got me. I appreciate your encouragment. Helps me so much!! God Bless!!
  21. Good luck to you too girl! I have 7 more days than I hope I won't want food as much as I do now..!
  22. Thank you Pennie! I'm so ready to be on the other side.
  23. My surgery is at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis on May 21st. Anyone else out there having surgery that day? I'm really nervous but I'm sure it will be fine!
