  1. Hey guys. I haven't been on here in a while. How are you all doing! Let me know!

  2. Hey everybody! I had my surgery March 19, 2012. I am 50 pounds down and I was wanting to see what kind of changes people have or are noticing about themselves after losing this amount of weight. I will start with some of my stuff I have noticed. 1.) I have completely stopped snoring. Unless I am super super tired. I don't know if you ever actually never stop snoring or not. 2.) I used to get bloody noses every 1 to 2 days. I have not had a bloody nose in about 4 months. 3.) I used to get a cold or some kind of sickness about once every 2 months. I don't think I have gotten sick once since my surgery. 4.) I can cross my legs easier! They still rub together when I walk but I hear that will go away eventually. 5.) I used to get heart burn literally every single day. I have not had it once since the surgery. Tell me whats going on with you. I would like to share in the successes with you. : ) P.S. There is one downside... I have had to get my suits tailored about 3 times in the past month. Its getting expensive lol.

    Pains?!

I had the Gas pains for about a week. It was horrible. I felt it in my shoulders and lower back really bad. It will pass you just have to give it some more time possibly. Congrats on the surgery!

Non Measurable Results From Lap Band

Everybody! I stopped snoring!!!! 20 lbs and I have pretty much not been snoring for the past week. It's amazing! I have enjoyed reading all of your post's, I wish everybody all the success in the world. It's a new day and I am so excited for everyone!
  5. Hey everyone! I am sorry that it has been a little bit, I have been very busy with work. So far I have no more pain or nausea except where my port is. It feels like a bruise on my stomach. It's nothing too crazy, I only feel it if I bump it on something or if I fall asleep on my stomach. I have been eating a wide variety of mushy food which has been nice. I have finally been able to feel the full feeling again which has been surprisingly unpleasant. I don't have any fill at all so just from the plication I can eat maybe 3 to 4 ounces of food. If I over do it, i get an extremely painful feeling right behind my sternum. Another thing that has been weird is that you don't get the full feeling in your stomach or belly. You get it right below your sternum. It is very different than what I am used to. I think I will miss the "Belly" full. It is so much less satisfying to stuff myself. The hardest part of the whole process has been not being able to drink beer. I am not a big liquor fan at all but because I can't drink beer for a while I tried it out yesterday. I got really tipsy off of one long island. It was ridiculous! I haven't had any bread, pasta or rice in what seems like forever and have been pretty okay without it. It is absolutely amazing how many things in this world are made with bread/pasta! You don't realize it until you can't eat it! Another hump that I don't know how to deal with is when I go out to eat the server always ask's if I didn't like the food. Because of how big of a guy I am it looks very unnatural for me to only eat 1/8 of the food I am given, and I still can't bring myself to order off of the kids menu (mostly because I can't eat any of it yet,) and because I don't want to have to explain to my server why I am doing so. That's about all that I can think of right now! I will make sure to update more frequently. Thank you for all of the awesome support, it really got me through my first week. - Cory
  6. Hey everyone. I am having a lot of worries about my plication and I am wondering if anybody can ease my mind. I went to the doctor and she said I could start doing soft foods. I can only have Refried Beans, pudding, Jello and Cottage cheese. She absolutely freaked out because I told her I ate some guacamole. I'm talking maybe a spoon full. She said that because of the fat content it would make my stomach work too hard and it could pop my stitches. Ever since she talked about popping my stitches I have been absolutely paranoid about it happening! So here are my questions: 1.) Would you know if one of your stitches did come out? 2.) Is it really as easy as she made it sound to pop one of them? 3.) Why when I eat all the mushy food I get hungry again in 30 minutes? I thought with my smaller stomach I would be full faster. 4.) I was told that my stomach size is only 2 - 4 ounces but I swear I can eat at least twice that. Thanks!!!!

What Exactly Is The Liquid Diet For??

See I don't understand this liquid diet thing. My doctor never told me to go on a liquid diet before the surgery. He said (and in the paperwork) stop eating and drinking 8 hours before the surgery. He was also a pretty lenient about post op. He said to just do a liquid diet for as long as I can stand then move to soft foods whenever I want. WEIRD!

Dr. Michael Snyder - Great Surgeon!

Had surgery with Dr. Snyder on March 19 2012. It was a wonderful experience. I received a Lap Band with Plication. There was some difficulties with the Plication but he was on top of it immediately. It was mostly just a lot of swelling. He had may stay over night in the hospital and I was watched very closely. I am home now and can't wait to do the rest of the classes. The staff is awesome and I am so glad that I was given all the education in the world to be successful. Dr. Snyder told me he promised he would make things perfect and he really did.

Non Measurable Results From Lap Band

This is true for me as a guy as well. I can only be on top for a couple minutes before I'm falling over out of breath!

    - I want to go Sky Diving someday. Most places wont let you do it if you are over 250 lbs! - I want to go snowboarding again. I stopped doing that when I got above 230. - I want to be able to fix my car. Its hard to slide under it being this big. - I don't want to look like a gluten when I go out to eat.
  11. Hey Everybody! Here's a little update with some questions. I got banded with plication on Monday and so far my stomach still feels like its in not. I have some slight pressure underneath my chest plate. - Does anybody have experience with the skin under your eyes getting really dry? My skin is puffy, red, and dry under my eyes and I don't know what its from. I am drinking Water alllll day long non stop. - The only success I have had with Protein is Peanut Butter. I take very very small bites and make sure it melts in my mouth. Does anybody know if this is okay? I will try to eat a Protein shake again today but so far the peanut butter makes me feel a little better.

    Banded On Monday

Had my band done the same day as you. : ) - Water gets really boring, I went and got Miyo and I can sip that all day no problems. - Walk around when you drink it tends to go down faster - Hot showers have help me relax. - Burping is okay and if you get nausea usually the burping will get rid of it. You may salivate a lot but wont throw up. - Drink protein shakes with water not milk. With milk its too thick and sweet for me to drink it all.

More more more! There's so many things that being over weight has conditioned us to do. I think the longer the list the better.

So many good goals. A couple of the things you all have been talking about are stuff that I forgot about. Some of these things I have convinced myself of certain reasons but in reality come down to me being over weight. - I hate getting my picture taken, not because I hate pictures but because I hate seeing how overweight I am. - I have tons and tooons of black clothing, not because I like black clothes, but because it hides my weight the best. - I have clothes that I refuse to throw away even though they are old old old. I like them because they hide my fat the best. - I have made specific friends that don't like to work out or swim because I don't want to take my shirt off or show my fat. - I stopped going to public gyms because I am so uncomfortable being around skinny people working out. - I want to stop wearing undershirts so that it hides my lumps.
  15. I just had some success. My doctors kept telling me to use nonfat or 1% milk for my Protein shakes. Turns out i can only keep it down if I mix it with water. Bleh... but at least I am getting my protein. From what I have been told is that you can't really over due the water. They said that as long as I am taking small sips I should just keep drinking to stay hydrated.
