  1. you would be surprised on what they are interested in, they are very interested in the surgical practice as a whole not just the surgeons skills. I never said anything bad about Dr. Kelly's surgical skills, I am not having my surgery with him but have heard great things from people who have. In any case congratulations on your upcoming surgery.
  2. Congratulations! Try ice on the area it tends to help relieve swelling.
  3. Paola you can also do a search with his name on here and you will find more information on topics with him involved.
  4. He is no longer affiliated with them. There are many post here with his contact information (DDFinn posted the number for his assistant above). Good luck!
  5. I have heard great things about Dr. Rodriguez, I had never heard of Dr. Aramburo. I am having my surgery May 10th in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Ponce De Leon, he is awesome! There are many great surgeons in Mexico, I think what is most important is for you to feel 100% satisfied with your decision. After much research I decided on Dr. Ponce because he has taught many surgeons there as well as he has many years of experience and a very very low complication risk. Good luck in your journey!
  6. I am unsure what you mean by bashing him goofycathy. If I wanted to "bash" him I would post all of the emails I have received from them where they bash doctors, coordinators and other people. They required for me to pay a deposit and I know they have asked the same of other people, I am glad they are not requiring the same from you. My intention was not to "bash" anyone, only to make people aware that this is an issue, I wish I had listened to previous posts about it, but hey live and learn. Good luck with your surgery.
  7. Yeah I agree, no matter how good of a surgeon you are you should treat everyone with respect!
  8. It's stands for Fellow of the American College of surgeons. Is an organization in the USA that many surgeons here belong to but only a few out of the country do. Dr. Kelly takes great pride on being a member but if they knew his unprofessional practices his membership can be in geopardy. What I said in the other post that bothered Omar was that many surgeon in Mexico could qualify to be in it but they choose not to persue it, that being an FACS member is not a requirement to being an amazing surgeon, like I believe Dr. Ponce is, and obviously Dr. Kelly did too since Dr. Ponce was Dr.Kellys teacher with the sleeve.
  9. I am sure you all have seen post by someone called Tmom? Well that is Omar, he emailed me after I posted my opinion about the FACS. Fortunately I already knew it was him because some people had mentioned it to me. After I replied and told him I knew who he was, he stopped bothering me lol..... I am not sure if that was the number or not DDFinn, they know I want my deposit back and I have been super nice to them but now I am just fed up with their unprofessionalism. I will just let my bank take it from here I just want my surgery with Dr. ponce to be here already, to get my money back and not have to talk to Dr. Kelly and his staff anymore. If worse comes to worse I will just contact the FACS and file an official complaint, I have tons of emails and voice recordings to cohaborate an unprofessionalism complaint.
  10. When i contacted them they required for me to pay the deposit of $500 to schedule my appointment. I did talk to Omar last week when he sent me a message here pretending to me a patient (shaking my head)..... I am just so done with them. I have spoken to Trish numerous times and you are right she is awesome! I also spoke to Dr. Ponce and he is wonderful. He does not require a deposit so I will be bringing a cashiers check when I come for my surgery! I can't wait!
  11. At first they tried to convince me not to change surgeons, then they finally agreed to refund me and said they would do it. Now they are not answering my messages!!! That makes me angry more than anything, they answered fast enough when I gave them my money but now they ignore me :/
  12. Oh I am definitely having it! With Dr. Ponce De Leon. . I cannot wait! Yours is with Dr. Garcia right?
  13. on here? yes, because the youtube channel name LBeauty was not available and I decided to keep them the same there, here and at myfitnessplan for ease.
  14. I am super frustrated right now, its been two weeks since I cancelled my surgery with Dr. Kelly and asked for my deposit back. I paid using the same bank that he uses so it was a quick transfer that took minutes, I asked for my money to be refunded the same way so it would be easiest and they told me they would work on it and would refund me. The only thing I have received from them to this day is headaches! Last Sunday, over a week after they said they would refund me, I emailed them and I have not yet received a reply! I know some other people had the same problem in the past when trying to get a refund from them (they posted here) but I should had listened!!!! Now I am having to go through my bank to get them to investigate it and refund my money. Thankfully I have the contract which says that I have 21 days to cancel before the surgery and would receive all my money back. Please, please, please if you are even 1% uncertain that you want to use Dr. Kelly do not pay your deposit! or pay it with a credit card! I was very sure when I booked it that I wanted him to be my surgeon but after much investigation I decided against it, and all they have done is show me how wise I was on my decision to change surgeons. I am so disappointed in the lack of professionalism that I have experienced with this surgeons staff.
  15. it will take some time to adjust but most people do. Journaling and support groups are definitely great ideas! You might want to also consider psychological therapy to figure out the reasons behind your self medication with food. Unfortunately many people get the surgery and don't deal with the underlining issue and end up abusing drugs or alcohol. Good luck and hang in there!
  16. I took epilepsy medicines in the past, I no longer take them. I do take ritalin LA for ADD and Celexa for depression. I did some research on them on my own then went and talked to my psychiatrist about them. What I found out from the literature and later confirmed with both my surgeon and my psychiatrist is that after surgery I will be taking Prilosec (or another proton pump inhibitor like it) and they change the pH of the stomach making it more basic, I will be taking it for about 6 months. This high pH is ok for many drugs but drugs that are slow release, or long acting such as my Ritalin LA do not work correctly in such a high pH. Also because at the begining food is processed faster thru the stomach (since we will be mostly drinking) and the stomach is smaller the medicines will pass faster into the intestines where most drugs are absorbed. there is a sprinkle form of depakote that some people take after surgery. I just did a small medicine interaction on depakote and prilosec and there does not appear to be a problem (you might be given other meds that they need to make sure there are no interactions), but definitely ask your doctor! People tolerate medicines differently after surgery the same way that they tolerate foods differently, but is very hard to know how we will tolerate the specific medications after surgery since everyone is different. Make sure you tell your psychiatrist or neurologist (or whoever prescribed your meds) that you are having this surgery BEFORE you have it. Please don't wait until after because if you have gran mal seizures you don't want to have one during or after surgery. Good luck!
  17. Congratulations MG! I am having my surgery 4 days before you and I am flying into San Diego! I hear that whole process of approval is a nightmare, I am glad you got it approved!
  18. yes I just started a channel with my journey, there is only one video there right now but my goal is to post one every week for at least the first two months after surgery and then maybe once a month. Right now I am going to focus on finding scientific data to answer some of the questions I and other people have, but because I am busy with school I can only do it at most once a week. My youtube name is BeautyVGSJourney (note is VGS not VSG). Please feel free to comment on them and let me know if there is something you want to know more specifically about and I will try to find it for you! Thanks!
  19. Hi everyone (Ashley here is the diet I mentioned), This is a diet that a local dietitian that specializes in bariatric surgery gave me. Pt resource manual_diet section.pdf
  20. Hello again Ashlee! So for me, I am having my surgery in Mexico and my doctor does not require me to have a long pre-op diet (because my BMI is 36), I am required to have a liquid diet for three days before surgery however. This varies with each doctor however and your starting BMI. I spoke to a nutritionist that specializes in bariatric surgery and here is some info she sent me. you can use the liquid phase of it for pre-op, but again it varies with doctors. (Well I can not figure out how attach the diet here, so I will try to put it somewhere else in the group.
  21. Hi MG in SD welcome to the group! you are a member, I just checked. What you need to do is click on the tab that says "Groups" and it should give you a list of the groups you belong to. click on the May 2012 sleevers and you are in! let me know if this does not work and I will see what else might be wrong.
