I hope mine will fade with time....the other day my mom was looking at my belly and told me it looked like I had been stabbed multiple times. Not exactly the look I want to have!

I will be a month out on Monday. I have not been cleared to have anything but full liquids. I am out of ideas of things that I can eat- I am truly hungry and sad that I am not one of the lucky ones who doesn't feel hunger anymore. I can not wait until I can have some chicken. I was previously a big time sweet lover- forget that! Give me some meat!

Ok, I'm gonna post an honest and, IMHO, awesome pic of me. I took pics 1/28, a day into my pre-surg diet....
    Surgery was 2/10.
I've taken several pics in the meantime... And I took some yesterday.
Anyway, I'm sharing because I have lost 1/3 of my excess weight. I am still really big... But I've changed a lot.

It's really strange that I am reading this post. I haven't been on here for 3 months, mainly because I was struggling with my head and I haven't been the model of good sleeve behavior that I was for the first few months after surgery. This is the first thing I have read since logging back on.
I am almost nine months out and I have come to the hard cold realization that my body may have changed but my relationship with food is still the same. When I'm stressed it is still what soothes me and when I'm lonely it is still my friend. I wish that having the surgery was the end of this toxic relationship, however it was not a divorce, just a little bit of a cooling off period. After nine months (with my weight the same for the last two months) I have realized that this is as far as the surgery can take me. The rest is up to me and if I don't change my relationship with food, I am not going to get to my goal. I'm thrilled that I had the surgery and I'm thrilled that I have lost the weight, but sometimes I feel like I am living a lie, I look slim on the outside, but my head is in exactly the same place it was when I was 225 pounds. Thank you so much for sharing this post. I was scared to come back on here because it was always such a source of inspiration for me and I did not want to discourage others and I assumed that others would not want me to discourage them. BUT.....being honest with others and being honest with yourself is a huge step forward. Thanks Dooter!

I can see how as the weeks go by it would be so easy to "forget" our tummies are not the same and try to do something the old us would do. I am three weeks today......last night, I was starving!!!! All I could think about was going out to eat and having a salad and a piece of grilled chicken. Healthy choices.....but not allowed for a 3 weeker
The mental part of all this is so much more than I could have ever imagined. No regrets!

Thank you! I just got home. It turns out that my potassium and magnesium were low. I also had an elevated level for blood clots- yikes! Thank God, no clots. I got infused with fluids all weekend and checked from one end to the other. I'm good to go and dying for the full liquid stage because hospital broth this weekend has just about done me in! I'm ready to get this show on the road. I'm going back to work tomorrow and ready to get in my routine.

I bought these. I have a really hard time with them. I liked the idea of 1 per day but they are enormous (I opened the bottle and thought it looked like a pill you would get at the vet for your dog). I managed to take 1.....and that was before my sleeve. I cannot imagine getting that thing chewed up and swallowed now without gagging. I tried a soft chew vitamin at GNC and liked it. I won't start Vitamins until next week but I think that's what I'm going to get. I'll have to take 2 but if you use your imagination they taste like a starburst.

I can relate. Last night, my family had French toast and bacon for supper. The bacon smell made me sick so I went outside and walked. Their food doesn't tempt me because I'm not hungry but I am acutely aware of how much and how unhealthy most meals are. I'll be proud to eat food again where I can get everyone on a good course for healthy eating. My sweet mother-in-law is handling all the meal prep this week so I'm not complaining...just hope this change I've made will be a really good influence for everyone.

It took me until about the 4th day for that to feel better. I was thankful when it did because I thought I would be in for a long life of sipping like a kitten!

mommyof3sweetboys reacted to gldnhoney523 in I made one week......Happy 1 week surgiversary to me!
I made it through my first week. I did not experience pain from my incisions or from my new sleeve, but the AIR, GAS...whatever you may call it has been mortifying. I still have some of it left, so I walk, walk, walk, dance, move around and repeat these steps over and over again. Also, I have been having an issue with making sure I have enough fluids, I love Sonic ice so I always get a Route 44 cup and eat that during the day and sip the Water as it melts. I am determined to find what works for me and make this change.

Congratulations! I took a bag with me that had lots of suggested items that I found on here. However, all I used was a pair of comfy pajama pants to walk in down the hall. I looked at my phone occasionally. The rest is a blur.

Each day will be a little better than the last, if even by a little. Day 6 was the day I woke up and felt like a whole different person: minimal pain and a clearer head. Give your body the time it needs to heal and be sure to take pain meds when you need them, as being in pain slows down healing. Everyone's recoveries are different so there's no use in comparing yours to others. Hang in there!

I am 3 weeks post op, and it definitely gets better! The first couple days are hard, but it is good that you are walking, that will help with the gas for sure! Also, this may sound stupid, but if you feel like you have to fart, DO IT! It feels so much better after! Lol! Hang in there!

Do you have gasx strips? They saved my life in the first four days. The majority of my pain seemed like gas. I can also relate to the gurgling spasm thing. I told my hubby it was like trying to communicate with an alien inside me who is now calling the shots! Hang in there in gets a little better everyday.

I was sleeved on 1/14, down 46 pounds and I feel great. The beginning was very hard, but it does get better. Take tiny sips and stop when you feel full. You will be able to get more in each day. I am up to about 45-48 oz of liquid a day and my doctor said that's great. Use a heating pad, it works! Good luck! You'll do fine!

I've had several moments like these the last 2 weeks and honestly don't know how I didn't lose control and eat it all up! But I didn't. Grilled hotdogs have never smelled like such a delicious thing until last night when I couldn't have one. I took a bath instead
My surgery is in the morning. Only Clear Liquids for me today.
