Good News & Many Questions
Do you have anyone you can contact at your surgeon's office to ask the questions to? All surgeons are different and require different preop diets. The vitamins that I will be taking are all chewable. You will need to check with him about continuing your other medication. If you can't check with your surgeon's office, then I suggest contact your primary doctor. Sorry I couldn't help more, but these are definately questions to check with a doctor. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

Just Checking In
Hi! I'm just checking in to see how all are doing? I'm doing well. Day 6 of preop diet is done. I think I'm addicted to greek yogurt, YUM!! Also, I think my husband had a slight breakdown today with my surgery. I don't think her realized that it's next week already. He was trying to talk me out of it, but not in a bad way (if that makes sense). He told me he would support me if this is my decision. I just assured him that I know what is involved. It's really hard for him!! I'm not sure if it's the surgery or if he's afraid I'm going to change. One this is for sure, I am planning on changing but in a fantastic way . But anyway, April 1 is Sunday!! We will all be sleeved in this month!! Awesome!! Good luck on preop diets .

1St Day Pre-Op Diet
Good luck!! I'm on my 6th day. The roughest day for me was the 3rd day. I had that hangover feeling all day, but it was that day and that day only.

Thank you for posting and sharing! First, I must say, congratulations on all your successes. Second, you look awesome. Your hair doesn't look bad at all. At first, I was a little scared to look at the pictures, since I'm getting sleeved April 4. But when I looked at them, it was a sigh of relief. You look amazing!! Congrats!!

How Soon Did You Get A Date?
It depends on your insurance and your surgeon. Some surgeons tentatively schedule your surgery before approval from insurance and some wait until after your insurance approval. I completed my program on Feb 29 and am having surgery April 4. The surgery coordinator told me it's usually 4-6 weeks after your program. However, that's just my experience. Good luck!! Hang in there!

Just To Introduce Myself
Good question . . . I will only be in for 1 night. So I'm just bringing a small bag with change of clothes to leave hospital, my own slippers to walk the hall, a book, and toiletries. That's it, I think! I don't mind wearing the hospital gowns. How about you? Any ideas?

Nerves Are Starting To Kick In
Wow, going through insurance was one of the most "nail biting" times. My insurance covered this, but I was petrified of denial. Thankfully, I had no problems. There are so many posts of denials. Good luck on trying to get your date moved up.

Just To Introduce Myself
Hi Kim! Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! April is just right around the corner. I just can't believe how fast these days are flying. I'm so excited, but nervous at the same time. I have butterflies in my stomach just talking about it, but am completely positive that I am making the right decision . What kind of preop diet are you going to do?

Just To Introduce Myself
I ordered the unjury sample pack. I have tried the chocolate in my coffee and liked it. I also tried the chicken Soup, I liked it, but not sure how much. I have to try the 2nd pack to be sure. Please keep me posted on the unflavored. I was so addicted to diet green tea that I really never drink Water, but now since I'm doing my preop diet, I never really realized how much I missed it. Getting all my water in and feel great!!

Seriously Contemplating This Procedure
Hi Miss V, I'm sorry to hear about the your loss. I am happy that you are focusing on yourself now and trying to get yourself healthy. If you are planning on going through insurance for your surgery, your first step should be to call them, find out if it's covered and what the requirements are. Then you should contact the hospital of your choice to attend an informational seminar. If you are not going through insurance, you should contact the hospital directly. They will have their own requirements for you to meet. I am going through my insurance. Each insurance has different requirements that they expect you to have. I needed a 3 month supervised program, 2 dietician appointments, 2 small group preop classes, 2 group post op classes, and mental health visit. I also needed to be at least 35 BMI with one comortality or 40 BMI with none. I have completed all of my requirements and my surgery is April 4. So excited to start this journey and get on with a healthy lifestyle. Good luck!! This is a wonderful supportive site. If you have any questions, just ask. Take care, Courtney

When Are You Having Wls
I am getting sleeved April 4. Couldn't be more excited and confident about my decision. However, it did take me about 3 years to come to the decision that weight loss surgery is the right choice for me. I didn't want to rush into the decision, but after much research, I know that this is what what want. I think this is a great forum for people who are "thinking" of having the sleeve. This site provides so much information and it can help one to make a decision if weight loss is right for them. It's a choice people have.

Just To Introduce Myself
Hi Waistnaway, I'm glad you made it to the group . I know exactly how you feel. There are a lot of us going through the same things as the same time, which makes it really nice for the added support. So you are on liquids for 2 weeks? I am on a low-fat Atkins diet. I started on Wednesday. I feel better already. Courtney

Frustrated After Peoples Response When I Told Them
I'm so glad I'm not alone. I have hardly told anyone about my surgery because I know how their reactions are going to be. I don't need their reactions. I am 100% confident in my decision so I don't need someone putting it down. This is definately not the easy way out and it's "MY" decision. It's a tool to help get us to goal and maintain. I have done so much yoyo dieting. I once lost 100 pounds on Weight Watchers. Felt great, loved seeing people because I was thin. But then it crept back on. Now, I would hate to see those people again because of the weight I put on. I know my name would be the center of attention. My immediate family knows and a friend, that's it. Even my husband, he's supportive, but thinks it's a drastic measure for me to take. He tells me how well I've done on Weight Watchers and I should just go back and stick to it. Well, if it were that easy, I wouldn't be in this situation. If people ask about my weight loss, I don't know what I'm going to tell them. Some I may tell, other's I may just tell them that I am doing a restrictive high Protein, low calorie diet. It's not a lie...I just didn't get into details. Like Inline6E46 said, this site is great for support!! Good luck!

It's Becoming Real...
Yes, it is very real!! I had my preadmission testing in the hospital yesterday. I had EKG, chest x-rays, and blood work. I met with anestheology and was told a lot of things to prepare for the day of my surgery. I got really nervous when she was telling me. I kept thinking, oh wow, this is really happening!! My nerves were all over the place. I was nervous, excited, scared. Like you said, it is not becoming very very real. We are one step closer to our day. Did you have to do any other preop classes or mandatory appts? I went through 2 small group preop classes, 2 dietician appts, 1 mental health, and I needed to go to 2 postop classes. It was very informative and I learned so much through this.
