  1. No, I was sleeved on April 4. At my two week mark, it was countdown time. How are you feeling?
  2. Countdown time . . . 11 days!!
  3. I hope things get better for you quickly!! Sending hugs your way!
  4. ShapeShifter, Oh yes, the wonderful world of Weight Watchers on-line. I found that too so much time because you needed to figure out your own points, etc. SparkPeople has a huge dictionary of food programmed in. I just need to know how much I ate/drank and it figures everything out for me. Fitbit sounds great! I'm going to consider purchasing one soon. I am 7 days postop today. I moving, but not like heavy walking moving. Maybe once I get cleared to do that, I will invest in one. Thanks!!
  5. Yes, myfitnesspal was another recommendation. How do you like your fitbit? I have been looking into them lately.
  6. I joined one called www.sparkpeople.com. Check it out! It's free and seems to be what you are looking for. This is a site my nutrionist recommended.
  7. Best of luck!! Wish you all a successful journey. Please keep us posted.
  8. I was also given a preop diet to follow in order to shrink my liver. I was on a lowfat atkins diet. If that's basically how you are eating now, I would say you are good to go. Best of luck on the surgery! Please keep us posted!
  9. Wonderful news! Congratulations!!
  10. That is great!! Best of luck tomorrow . . . you'll do great! Keep us posted. ps now that song is stuck in my head
  11. Aww, I hope you feel better soon! I was constipated too, until about 5 days postop when I was allowed full liquids. Hang in there! Things will get better day by day.
  12. As a quote from my weight loss surgeon, "the band isn't as safe as people think it is and bypass/sleeve isn't as scary as people think it is." I originally was going for the band, until my surgeon said that to me. I did my research and decided the band was definately the wrong way for me to go. You can find success stories with the lap band, but there are not that many and I don't believe the band can stay in you forever, like they say it can. My husband was fine with me having the band. He didn't know of the complications that can happen. When my surgeon and I switched the surgery to the sleeve, I didn't tell him until about 3 days prior to surgery because I knew he didn't want me to get cut. He had a little bit of a meltdown until I explained everything to him and then he was okay. Good luck!! Show your wife the statistics . . . maybe that will help.
  13. Trust me . . . all your feelings are perfectly normal. I just had surgery last week and I was a complete mess. Like you, I was great going through all the requirements and was sure I was going to be denied. I got the approval phone call and I was jumping for joy . . . then a few days later I thought, what in the world am I doing. It was a very tough rollercoaster of emotions for me. I wasn't going to allow myself to give up on the surgery. I knew that there was no way I was going to be able to do it on my own. I have two children, 4 and 8. The best thing I could give them for their future was a healthy mom. I had no comorbilities, but some blood work showed that things were not in a good place and pretty soon I would have problems. The benefits definately outweigh the risks. There is always a risk with surgery, but weight loss surgery is becoming a very common surgery. I figure it's probably like getting your appendix or gall bladder removed. You should check on your surgeons statistics, if that would make you feel better. I checked on mine and their were no fatalities. Then I asked the xray tech if she's ever seen a leak, she said she had seen leaks with bypass, but has not seen one with the sleeve yet. When the surgeon came to get me for surgery, I had a breakdown. He reassured me that everything was going to be just fine. Then before I knew it, I was waking up in the recovery room. I remember thinking to myself, "phew, it's over and I'm going to be just fine." Good luck and let me know if you ever want to chat more. Courtney
  14. Okay, I went to GNC and did really good there. I bought the Isopure with 40 grams of protein to try. I thought I would just sip that throughout the day. Then they gave me a sample of GNC Total Lean Shakes that were already premixed . . . oh my gosh, they were so yummy! I got of few boxes of the vanilla and the strawberry (they were buy one get one, get one 50% off). I have unjury chocolate that I need to finish, but once that's gone I'm definately getting the chocolate GNC brand. Yum, yum, yum . . . I was never so excited about a protein drink before.
  15. Hi! First, I gotta say that I love you member name . Welcome to the group. We all range in dates from the very end of March to the very end of April. I got sleeved last Wednesday and am 6 days postop right now. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. How are you feeling? It's only two weeks away. Did you need to start preop diet today?
  16. I use unjury unflavored and it says that you can in warm beverages under 130 degrees. I'm not sure abot the other kinds of unflavored protein, but this one works. I mixed my chocolate unjury in my coffee and did not clump.
  17. Thanks Kat!! I didn't even think of the unflavored protein. I tried some cream of wheat this morning, made with milk. But I'm not even sure how much protein I had because I didn't measure. I'm figuring 5 grams. I'm going to have a shake for lunch. Then maybe I'll add the unflavored protein to my soup for dinner. I am also going to try to the ready-to-drink Protein drinks. Thanks for your help! Courtney
  18. Good for you!! Congratulations on your first steps to a healthier you!
  19. Wow, that's a tough situation you are in. I'm sorry you have to go through all this negativity so close to your surgery date. Everyone was very supportive of me, but had some issues. My husband was supportive, but did try to talk me out of it a few days before my surgery. My daughter, who is 8, didn't want me to have it because she was scared. I have to admit. I think I was my own worst enemy in this one. I was second guessing the surgery and wasn't sure if I should go through with it. However, I knew this is what I wanted and needed. I was completely prepared, but just scared. I'm so glad I went through with it. I am 5 days post-op and my daughter is still mad it me. I figured that in time she will realize all the benefits that the surgery has made in me. I wish you all the best!

  21. Best of luck to you, PonyUp! Hope your cold will not interefere. Take good care and update us when you can!
  22. Oh no, I hope you get the answer you are looking for. Unfortunately, I can't help you much, but I do know that it is up to your employer to add weight loss surgery to your benefit plan. I can't see why it would take up to two months if you have the benefits now. I agree, keep calling. Good luck!! Hope you find out soon!
  23. Hi All, Just have a quick question . . . I just started my full liquid diet today. I'm supposed to get in 64 oz of Fluid and try to get in 50 grams of Protein. I am don't know how I am supposed to do that. So far, I had about 1/2 cup greek yogurt (7 grams protein), and approximately 20 oz of fluids. If I do a Protein shake with milk, can my milk count towards my fluid intake? Thanks for your help! Courtney
  24. I only had it for about 24-36 hours. I heard this is one of the biggest complaints after surgery. I didn't have it long, nor did I have the painful gas. Everyone's body reacts differently. Good luck to you!!
