VACookey got a reaction from COnative in The Benefits of Exercise
I just read a post about losing weight without exercise and it got me thinking. Yes, you can do it. So why exercise then? I decided to make a list of the benefits I have enjoyed. Feel free to add yours!
    1. More muscle means faster metabolism
    2. Dropping dress sizes even when the scale remains the same
    3. Biceps!
    4. Awesomely toned legs
    5. Feeling of accomplishment after completing a really tough workout
    6. Running your hands down your legs and actually feeling muscle and not fat
    7. Ability to squat down and get back up with little effort due to awesome leg muscles
    8. Ability to run around with the kids and not get winded or worn out
    9. Ability to participate in a class and not feel left behind because you can't keep up
    10. Beginning your bicep curls at a wimpy 5 pounds and someday being able to lift at 12 pounds. What an accomplishment!
    11. Squats and lunges no longer scare you
    12. Ability to do 60 pushups in 90 seconds. Couldn't do that at 289 pounds!
    13. People think you weigh less than you actually do because your body is so fit

We went to The Hobbit over the holidays. I had to get up in the middle to go to the bathroom and saw this chick sitting next to the friend of my granddaughter, Emily, who was visiting us. This intruder was sexy looking with high-heels, black leather jacket, tight pants, and I wondered why she was sitting right next to Emily when there was so much room elsewhere in the near empty theater. I was about to get mean when I realized.... it was my wife. I walked away with my red face.
We went to an unbelieveably crowded outlet center in Orlando yesterday. A number of times I lost her and had a hard time picking her out of the crowd.
She has lost over 100 pounds in a year, looks and feels good, and my brain hasn't caught up with her rapid descent.
I am so proud of her, she made this happen.

I don't think you should take a vacation 3 weeks after surgery. You'll be on a 10 pound weight restriction. You won't even be able to lift your luggage. If you can reschedule, you should.
OP, congrats on enjoying the cruise!

I can only speak for what's been successful for me: Next to no sugar, lots of Protein, low carbs, and plenty of exercise, specifically lifting weights. I work out 3-4 times a week with a combination of cardio and weights and I'm very happy with my results. I see that the weight loss is now slowing down but it hasn't stopped. I'll be at 6 months on September 7th and I'm just a few pounds away from 100 pounds lost.

You need to weight train now because you're losing muscle mass as you lose weight. The muscle on your body helps increase your metabolism which in turn helps you lose weight. I say start now. I've been lifting weights since the day I came home from the hospital. Not only am I totally satisfied with my weight loss after 3 months, but I can really see a difference in how my body looks, muscle wise.
    Just do it!

Almost 5 months out and I can't chug. I don't have to sip but if I drink Water too fast I feel kinda sick for a few seconds.

Surgery was March 7th. I'm not a fanatic exerciser, just 3 times a week sometimes 4. I think it's the quality of my exercise. I'm doing mostly strength training and I can FEEL the difference in my body. It's not just weight loss. It's muscle toning, body sculpting, and weight loss mixed together. Plus, I don't eat a lot of junk (can't really. It makes me sick). Just yesterday I went to Rita's and got a cherry/vanilla gelati. I had maybe 5 bites of it and had to give it to my husband. The sugar just sits weird in my stomach. So I'm a grilled meat/veggie girl. No fast food, fried food, and very little sugar.

I stopped several weeks before surgery because I didn't want to deal with caffeine withdrawals while dealing with healing from the surgery. I started whitening my teeth so that I wouldn't be tempted to go back to them. I feel a million times better without all those nasty chemicals coursing through my body so I have zero desire to drink one again.

I'm actually thinking about going to the farmer's market and getting some free range chicken instead of the store bought stuff. Can't hurt to try it.

I figured this is a new healthy lifestyle for me and the chemicals in diet coke don't mix with that. So I've given it up completely. A side effect of that? My teeth look FABULOUS!
