  1. Im 4 months post op an I will actually have 1/3 - 1/2 cup portion once a week. it my one and only cheat, and it goes down well. it doesnt make me gain or loose that day but its worth it to me lol. I was told by my nurse that carbs will get suck in my throat, or I would have dumping syndrome. well they dont lol Im happy about that. I can handle them in very small amounts. I havent told this to my nurse though. Really if its not affecting me in a negative way then I think its ok.
  2. 1) going to the beach and wearing an actual bathing suit. lol. 2) run a mile 3) shop at Victoria secrete
  3. I have my up and down moments too...for me it was because I am an emotional eater and havent been dealing with my emotions with food anymore, therefor, not dealing with them at all. also I automatically have this thought in my head that this is too good to be true and it will all come back or stop completely before my goal weight. I would suggest talking to someone you never know, it may help. chin up girl you can get through it. Hugs
  4. well thanks everyone for all the amazing encouragement lolol I laughed at Deano's comment about guessing Im short lol its true! Im 4' 9". I guess i needed to see things in perspective like u all said. Ive lost half my weight, (incredible!) , in only 2 months! THANK YOU everyone! and i just went and got a new pair of jeans and to my surprise im a size 13!!!! down 4 sizes!!! now Im motivated.
  5. I had my sleeve done November 30 2012. I have lost 34 pounds since then. kinda slow for my expectations... I was seeing all these stories of people loosing like 30 pounds a month for the first three months so I was very excited of that possibility. but I have only lost 15 pounds a month this has brought me down.... I eat healthy, 15-20 carbs per day, watch my fat intake, and calories. I guess I just need some inspiration to pick me up to get back on the wagon. Ive been lazy when it comes to working out, and I know that if I tried harder it would happen faster. HELP!!! I need some encouragement!!
  6. what about sugarless drinks made with splenda? i know theres an splenda ice tea with 0 carbs out there. u can find a lemonade recipe and swap the sugar out for splena. use real lemon juice, water, lemon slices and splenda. its soo good! 0 carbs, 0 calories and YUMMY!
  7. try different exercises every day. this keeps your body guessing and ur metabolism up. as well with me its a low carb low fat diet that makes things move. dont worry it will happen!
  8. I know the feeling!!! I found my long lost jaw bone and my hip bone that I thought I would never find! lol its too funny when you discover something that may seem small to others but to us its huge! I get so excited with each new discovery! lolol keep up the good work girl!
  9. I just want to say your making the right choice and good luck! you have the right frame of mind taking it one step at a time, thats what this is all about. its funny but for me afterwards foods I liked I now hate. they make me feel sick, and its painful to digest so I actually enjoy healthy options more. Always remember that if people judge you for not doing this the "natural way" that this takes a person who has allot of strength, determination and not just anyone can do it. we all know the "natural way" doesnt just work magically for everyone! I hope it all goes smoothly for you and good luck girl!
  10. totally my case a swell except the pain was so bad when I took a small sip of water that it felt like I was being stabbed. I was re admitted after only one day of being home because they were very concerned for me. they thought I had a leak. But after lots of tests they found nothing wrong, so they decided it must have been severe sensitivity to anything in my stomach. I was very swollen for a week but after that things got way better. I was able to drink 1/2 a ensure drink over the period of an hour lol but it was something! I still have very small intake but I feel good. Im 2 months out now. I can eat allot more variety now which is nice. dont worry it gets better as time goes on
  11. thanks! I will check out pintrest. i love that site I just never thought of using it for recipes. almond four is expensive here, really no matter where you buy it. I used to buy almonds from costco and grind them into flour myself, with my food processor. and whenever I go to washington I buy it there cause its half the price! have you tried online? maybe you will have better luck!
  12. So I have decided to cut out as many preservatives as possible from my diet. I want to eat as organic as possible, no flour except chic pea flour, spelt flour or almond flour. no sugar, even splenda or fake sugar substitutes either. I will use raw honey. lol Im definitely taking on a challenge but I feel this will be a positive change for me and my family. Im trying to source out some recipes using organic ingredients that are both flavorful and filling. Just wondering if anyone has ideas or recipes to share with me?
  13. I felt the same way until the third week. I figured out I needed to eat small portions every two hours in order to feel my best. I make sure I get allot of protein too. it makes the difference. I was eating maybe 1/3 cup of food three times per day, though I was feeling full on that it wasnt enough. what I I was feeling was restriction which I was mistaking for the feeling being full. its all about learning your new stomach. now if I keep on top of eating something every two hours, I can do anything. work out, do my house chores, go for a day of shopping, etc. to keep it easy i always pack ensure for emergencies, fruit, and protein bars. it makes it easier when Im out for the day. Dont worry it will get better as you relearn your stomach! good luck and congrats on your weight loss!
  14. so Im wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I got my sleeve done november 30 2012 and Ive lost 22 pounds since. but Ive hit a stall now. it bounces between 1 pound up, and one pound down....any advice to get this moving again?
  15. thanks everyone Im so glad Im not alone in this lol. I feel a bit better now and can manage to eat but it still doesnt appeal to me at all and i almost gag when it comes to eating anything. but Im no longer nauseous so thats good! now I just need to figure out this weight loss stall and get losing!
  16. I had my sleeve done on nove 30 2012 and I was feeling great until three days ago when I started feeling very sick, and nothing I eat (that usually agrees with me) doesn't agree with me. just wondering if this is common?
  17. thanks u have now validated for me that I need to choose the right foods. I have been eating very small portions prob 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup portions 3 times daily. but I can tolerate some bread, crackers, and carbs that arent good ones. i tend to go for them instead of healthier choices. but now I am set on eating only foods that are the most nutritious for me. thank you! your right, its about changing what up in ur head as well that makes the difference!
  18. wow! amazing u look so good! its encouraging for me....Ive hit a low spot..Im down 20 pounds since my gastric sleeve surgery nov 30 2012. but it wont go past that!!! I need to do something more I guess lol. But thank you so much fro posting this, it really helped me
  19. So Im now 4 weeks post op and Im down 20 pounds. not my goal (was 25) but its still more then Ive ever lost. now Id like to start exercising but I dont know what I can or cannot do. I love kick boxing, yoga, and taebo. Im at a stand still in losing so I need to do something more then just dieting. anyone have advice?
  20. also be careful when adding meat. its harder to digest so chew well and take it SLOW!! I found this out the hard way when I tried chicken. it got stuck half way down. I stay away from most meats except lean ground meats that go down easier but I still have very small amounts of them. I was soo excited that i diddnt take my time and I suffered for it lol. hope this helps
  21. I had the EXACT same problem. I regretted the surgery at that stage because I was so sick of soup and soft foods. Im now at 4 weeks out and I eat small amounts of things like egg salad on crackers, sweet potato, rice, canned ham salad on crackers, boiled soft veggies, and even chili. I just chew very well. also it was allot of trial and error testing out what I can tolerate. once I found out I stuck to the foods that make me feel the best. really not what doc says to do, but Im still losing 1-2 pounds per day, and feeling great. dont worry just try bites of things and if they feel good going down then go for it. just chew well and take it slow between bites.
  22. thats GREAT!!! its working out for u!
  23. im just wondering if there are any people on here that are from Alberta. It would be nice to connect with them as Iam from Alberta and would like to get to know support groups/friends closer to me...
