thanks to the above poster...of ALL the things i could be worried about (and i'm a nurse, so the operative issues should scare me)...well, hair loss is the biggie.
it's stupid, i know, but my whole life i've had great hair. when i was young and thinner it was really beautiful. as i've gotten older and bigger, i've cut it, but it's still really cute. the UP side to this- i have a bunch of cute short short cuts that i've always wanted to try, and now i CAN without worrying if my face looks too fat!

Yes. You don't need to tell anyone you don't feel needs to know. I told my immediate family and my closest co-workers (who knew I went out on a LOA). No one else knows how I've lost weight. Whenever anyone asks, I tell them what is the truth, "I eat much smaller portions, exercise at least 15 minutes (usually more), and I don't eat white flour, Pasta, or rice."
I've only had one "friend" be a little snide who found out. She wants to lose 30 pounds, and go from her size 10 to a size 4.... *rolls eyes* So, she commented one day to me, that, "I've thought about taking the easy way out and do surgery like you. But, then decided I would do it the right way." Lets just say, I've started to distance myself from this person. Easy way!? PAH!

I have pcos and in my book that I got from my doc it can reverse a lot of the effects. Such as infertility, hair, hygene and not having a period. Usually when your over weight that induces pcos. The docs say lose weight get better. So yes it can help but doesn't always resolve everything.

Little difficult to decipher exactly what your saying here because most letters are missing from half the words in your sentence. But I believe what you are saying is that you are basing your decision to have surgery on the chance that it MIGHT correct the symptoms of PCOS. There is no yes or no answer to that question. For some women, the weight loss does correct their symptoms and for some women it does not. There is no guarantee.

    Hey guys,
Just wanted to share some pics, cuz we all love it when others share pics! . This is my first time sharing photos, aside from my avatar. I'm 9 months out of surgery as of yesterday, and initially, I was having my hubby take pictures every month. I kinda fell off over the summer, but finally remembered to have him snap a few this morning. I cried a little when I put the 'before' and 'after' side by side. I was self pay, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Rejoicing over here!! Woot!
p.s. not sure if I'm doing this right, so hopefully there are pictures here!

My thoughts and prayers are with you. With the Chemo and everything you have to go through, there is no reason not to follow the actual plan that most doctors put you on before, during and after surgery.
There is absolutely no reason not to sign up to myfitnesspal.com, no reason not to eat 80 grams of Protein a day, drink 64 ounces of Water a day, no reason not to limit your carbohydrates to 20-40 grams a day, no reason not to stay within 800-1200 a day.
You can still do this while going through Chemo. Actually, this may help you more so. Chart your food, drink your Water. Eat your meat first, vegetables second, chew everything up really well.
There is no reason not to still walk in place, while going through this. Wait 1/2 hour after eating to drink your water, give up Soda now.
I lost 70 pounds before I had surgery. I know it would be definitely hard to deal while dealing with cancer, but I do have a brain tumor and I do have lupus and I did it before surgery. Your dream of having surgery isn't over, but I honestly believe you can strive to change your eating lifestyle now.
You are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish you nothing but the best. I can imagine the disappointment you feel but there is no reason to give up the fight and there is even more of a reason to be vigilant. If you eat healthier and drink more water, you will only benefit.
Kick the cancer's butt, while getting your butt in shape. You can fight and win both battles at once!

I confess I am enjoying that my clothes are comfortable.
I confess I wish I could free myself of the scale.
I confess I am really enjoying sex...and so is my husband.
I confess I feel really bad for people who don't have the support of their spouse because I am convinced my husband is my personal angel sent to be my rock.
I confess I have researched plastics even though I am not even close to goal.
I confess I could easily eat over 1500 calories if not careful and mindful and don't know how some say they have a hard time getting 800. My nutritionist has me between 800-1000 and I have to log every bite.

What you said on stalls is exactly my issue too!! Glad to know my secret is not only me.
    With that...
    1) I confess I eat 1 oz of dark chocolate s day
    2) I confess that when I get discouraged or in a stall my old self tries to creep back in.
    3) I confess I used a straw once... Or twice.
    4) I confess I'm terrified I won't succeed and hit my goal weight.
    5) I confess this is harder than I thought.

I confess that Aunt Flo has awful, terrible timing! No visits for a year, then out of nowhere, hello! I don't dare step on a scale until she's hella gone! (Sorry to the gentleman here.)
I confess that my fear of failure has controlled my life- every aspect. But I'm sick of being afraid all the time. So, I met a friend for dinner that I hadn't seen since before I gained all my weight. She wasn't uncomfortable around me or humiliated by me. It was a wonderful thing to be around someone out in public again!
I confess that I'm worried I will stop showing a loss now that I'm on the Soft Phase of the program. Especially since I'm unable to drink the Protein Drinks to get the Protein in, but I see my calories going up. I'm still not brave enough to eat 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day.
I confess that even having lost some weight, doing the elliptical is kicking my butt! What a modern-day torture device!
I confess that I've never wanted a Screwdriver as badly as I do today! (And I rarely drink!)

    I confess...
*My eyes are still bigger than my stomach so many times I end up with a plate full of food I can't eat.
*Stalls scare the crap out of me. I feel like a failure and my thinking gets skewed and I binge...well as much as my sleeve will let me.
*Im mad they came out with all the "good" food after I got sleeved. pizza on garlic bread? !?! That's freakin genius! Lol
*I fall in and out of love with exercise.
*I downplay my weight loss to my friends who are overweight or who I know are jealous.
*I hate when people ask me about health/nutrition and I know theyre not serious. Why waste my time? And don't "act" serious about weight because the fat girl is getting ready to pass you up.
This feels good. May be back lol.

I confess that this journey is both harder and easier than I thought it would be.
I confess that in public situations I finagle things to make it look like I've eaten more than I have.
I confess that it makes me sad that I might never be able to consume a large sandwich with big ol' slices of homemade bread again (like I need it).
I confess that I occasionally use a straw.
I confess that I haven't told anyone about my sleeve and I don't plan on it. I don't need your negativity or opinions.

I am now 5 months and 2 weeks post surgery. I've lost 61 pounds. I'm pretty happy with this.. but I've been struggling mentally lately. I hit a stall, and broke it... but, during my stall some of my old me habits started creeping in. I've been fighting them... I know I'm strong enough too. So, my first question is this. How did you all stay motivated? Did you fall off the "wagon" at any point or did you breeze through with super focus? I have 45 more pounds to go to hit my goal. I want to hit that goal more than anything! I've let stress sabotage me a little lately.
Second question is... did any of you ever have that moment of seeing yourself one day post surgery, and go, "Whoa, is that me?!" I did this morning. I was walking into work, and caught a glimpse of myself in the windows of my building as I was walking in. I did a double take, like I was seeing myself for the first time. I look so different! I'm smaller... and I'm wearing clothes that hug me, and I don't look bad! My face is thin... my legs are strong.... whoa. I've changed. When was your "whoa" moment?

I went to Chipotle and got a naked burrito bowl - chicken, cheese and mild salsa... I got 4 meals out of it.
I am looking forward to being able to add onions, peppers and other stuff, but for now its a very satisfying change from fish. I am trying to go high Protein and low carbs, so no Beans... Anyway, it was delicious!

My "whoa" moment was that same glass window on the way into work... and even now everytime I unintentionally look into a mirror. If I mean to look into the mirror, I see what I anticipate seeing. But if I pass through my dining room and catch a glimpse in that large mirror, I'm stunned!
I fell off the wagon for one week where I grazed on crap. I caught myself and quit it.
