Your husband needs to talk to my husband, I had this surgery because of so many health problems and the shear fact that I felt like crap every darn day, now that I have lost 87 lbs my husband is like a kid with a new toy, he says he feels like he's having an affair every day!

My Hair loss started about at month 3 and seems to be over at 3 weeks. Knock on wood. I typically eat 120+ grams Protein a day and didn't take any special supplement for hair loss like Biotin. I do take quite a mountain of Vitamins daily.

Yeah my barbaric surgeon said Barretts is a contraindication for the sleeve and he wouldn't do it and won't do it for anyone that has it. He is a great guy and I really wanted him to perform mine. So when all his happened I of course was so excited
But now I'm also scared lol. It's all so real now.

These last 24 hours have been crazy. For some who might remember back in September I was diagnosed with Barretts and told I could either have rny or find a new surgeon who would still do the surgery. Well I got a second opinion and I do not have Barretts! The test was wrong. My Dr called me at 8pm last night at home to discuss and said I could have the surgery.
So I went from probably not having it to they submitted my case to insurance today!
Wow I'm a mixed bag of emotions right now!!!!
I just had to share with you all. I will hopefully be sleeved by the end of the year. Woohoo.

Yup! You get 3 flags (like flag football) and the zombies chase you trying to take them. If you cross the finish line with even 1 flag you survived! Some zombies just stumble past you but others will chase you for yards and since this was hiking terrain it was a killer!! LOL!!
I bumped into a zombie clown that made me run the fastest I've ever run in my life! That guy never even got close, ha ha ha!!!

Good morning.. I can relate to your concerns. I thought that I had done everything to avoid hair loss, but once it started, I thought I may go bald. It started falling out at about month 5 for me, huge losses each day. I had been taking Biotin and black currant for over a year in hopes of avoiding this. I made sure I got my Protein and Water requirements each day, but nothing helped. I came to this site because it didn't look like there would be any end and I was so discouraged.
I received encouraging information from many advanced sleevers who had been through this and assured me that it would stop and my hair would come back.
I was just starting month eight and one of the suggestions was to use a Biotin Shampoo, so I purchased an expensive brand that was all natural. It was so harsh on my hair so I discontinued it after three weeks. My hair is or was full, but baby fine and highlighted, going bald is not a good combination.
I then saw an ad and purchased Garnier's "Fall Fight" a new Hair loss shampoo that you can buy right in a regular department store. I swear it started working immediately. Being just three weeks out from starting this regiment, I have no hair loss now at all with the exception of normal few hairs on the shower floor. I also invested in a shower comb because my hair is long I had read that combing your hair in the shower with the conditioner in helps get it to the ends, stops breakage and helps stimulate the scalp. Getting good blood supply to the hair follicle is important.
You massage this shampoo and conditioner in and then let it sit a few minutes, it causes a slight tingle.
Overall I am not sure what helped, maybe a combination of things or was it time to stop shedding? It was a concerning three plus months. I still take the biotin and black currant and have the strongest and longest nails I've ever had. My hair is growing back fast and furious. I have Long hair, but can run my fingers through my scalp and it feels like a porcupine in there. :-)
I have heard some people say that their hair came back thicker and healthier. I'm sure mine will come back GRAY, I have very few gray hairs but at my age deserve to have more. Gray is better than "hard" hair. Thankfully the sleeve has no mal-absorption component so if you eat well, the body should produce hair.
The downfall to using the biotin and black currant is hair will grow stronger EVERYWHERE, including the goat hairs you try so hard to keep at bay. (It has NOT increased Hair growth where I didn't have hair.) I envisioned a gorilla after I sent this. I hope I'm not the only woman on this site that have a few stray coarse hair on my face. Just buy new pluckers.. :-) Good luck and know that it will get better. The weight loss journey has it's bumps but I would change nothing, I'm close to goal and about 9.5 months.

O boy do I know the feeling! We had a yard sale this past weekend with all the proceeds going to JDRF (my 9 yr old granddaughter is type 1 and wears a pump) and I sold every bit of the clothes that I could wear 4 months and 83 lbs ago. It was kinda sad to see all of those clothes go, I bought from Catherine's, Lane Bryant and Cato, but we made $597.00 for JDRF and my clothes were a big part of that, so it made me feel a little better.

As I many on this forum have said you go through clothes very quickly. I am now going through my closet pulled out too big clothes and it is half empty! I can't beleive the rate that your clothes become too big. I am mourning my beautiful high quality duds. For me this seems to be a very hard part, I loved dressing so all my lovely clothes, on to someone else!!

Mine started to really fall out a lot at 3/4 months and it didn't slow down until 8 months. It was awful and scary, but it will grow back and you won't go bald. Hang in there.

The one thing about the Protein, you may still be losing hair, but it would be worse without it. I can't really say about the Biotin.

My aunt lost almost all of her hair, broke off. So she cut it pretty short and wore wigs for awhile. Now her hair is thickening and growing back out....but she still wears her wigs. Think she likes to be a different person every day. lol

I hear ya! I'm not sure if the Iron or Vitamin D will help. I can tell you that my one year mark is coming up on 11-14-12 and my hair is back to normal. I lost A LOT of hair!! It does get better.

MoreganK reacted to Shayyt in Hungry?! Really?! Am I Alone?
So I am about two and half months post op and can eat regular food which I have been and have had no problems. I eat and I swear I am hungry again in an hour or two. I had read on other forums that say the hunger hormone is cut out when they do the sleeve but I am not sure I buy that. I am certain this is hunger pangs and not just mind hunger and I am trying not to "graze" on junk. I am sooooo frustrated and feel like I am eating way more than I should. In addition to this issue, I feel like when I do eat I am eating too much. I probably ought to measure it to be certain but if I were to guess I would say I am probably eating about 1 cup of food at a sitting. Is anyone else having this problem with hunger?? Any input?

I'm a hairdresser @ an Aveda salon, & was sleeved Aug1. As I hairdresser I've seen the hair loss in sleeve, band, & bypass clients,w/bypass clients being the most extreme. I'm waiting to see what mine's gonna do.
Taking Vitamins regularly (have your Dr. check your bloodwork), keeping your Proteins way up, & keeping hydrated from the VERY BEGINNING is way important. The less shock your body goes into, the better your hair will be! Even if u don't have Hair loss, the texture might get drier. Try Aveda Damage(or Dry)Remedy Treatment Masks.
If you're experiencing hair loss, try the new Aveda Invati System-shampoo, cond., & spray for the scalp. It works best when u use all 3. It will definately help u stop loosing as much & help u regrow what u lost. If u go on Aveda.com, u can watch testimonials, but I've seen it 1st hand.
I can also tell u, when people start to loose hair, they get nervous about touching it. The worst thing u can do is not touch it. Your scalp needs to be stimulated! (Remember the old '100 strokes before bed' tale). So, Shampoo it vigorously, brush it well, massage it regularly, & stimulate those follicles!
Unfortunately, everything u put your body through can affect your hair. Some bodies react worse to the shock than others. Anesthesia alone can cause your hair the fall out or get dry, if you're sensitive. The trick is to stay on top of the damage. Hair color can make it feel thicker, & lighter colors don't show the scalp as much. Aveda color is 97% natural, so it's very safe for this purpose. Long hair can feel like more hair loss than short hair, so a shorter cut might make u feel better about it & make it look fuller. I wouldn't recommend perms @ all in this stage of the game.
Feel free to message me if u have any hair questions, I don't always check back w/the posts. Good luck, & hope this helps someone.
