  1. So I start my liquid diet tomorrow and have my surgery on the 4/23 For me today is the end of one chapter and tomorrow is the beginning of another one. Needless to say I had to get my last being a slob moment in and just devoured a dozen donuts and a large coffee. I was just wondering what was your last meals before surgery(not referring to life being over because of the surgery but one chapter closed)
  2. I just bought a case for my pre op diet Monday..I bought one 20oz of of each flavor to try first..the apple melon is best for me it tastes like a green apple jolley rancher, alpine punch tastes like some weird form of cherry that is good..the grape tastes like a purple flinstone which I don't mind...so I bought some of each..plus I mixed some with crystal light ice tea(in case you get sick of them)and it was really good...I would definitely buy some flavors before you get a case everyone definitely has different taste when it comes to isopure
  3. If you don't want them to know just say you are having a hernia repaired
  4. Can someone please tell me exactly how to do this and good cream soup brands..im starting my pre op diet on Monday and im overthinking every little thing. Thanks!
  5. Mines 4/23 and I've been very indifferent and whatever about the surgery. Today it finally sunk in when I went out to buy moo-moo's to wear for after surgery and protein shakes that I need to start on Monday. Im freaking out..everything is just getting overwhelming. Im just thankful for this forum its keeping me going
  6. I have empire bcbs. My bmi is 49 with 4 comorbidities..but I believe you needed to have a bmi greater then 35 or 40 with more then 1 comorbidities or a bmi greater then 40 or 45 with nothing..sorry I don't have the exact numbers but its something like that
  7. I can imagine it must be frustrating but my NUT always says to me.. "what's the hurry? You didn't gain weight over night and you wont lose it any faster. your still losing and not gaining and that's all that matters wether it takes a day or a month"
  8. I had gotten approved with the 6mo nut appointments(which I had done prior to wanting wls), letter from my pcp, pulmonary consultation, 2 sonograms and an endoscopy..I hadn't had my psych eval or clearance from my cardiologist so im not sure what they were looking for but im not going to question it
  9. mine is on april 23rd. so excited
  10. For me i had to have a psych eval, venous and abdominal sonogram, stress test, heart echo, pulmonary consultation, sleep study, endoscopy, 6 mo visit with nutritionist, 3 bariatric support groups and a letter if necessity from pcp
  11. I take lexapro, seroquel, and lamictal. I remember I had the idea of trying to wean myself off one by one. Well seroquel wasn't a problem but I was on it for insomnia and it came back after 2 weeks. I then started on lexapro and it was such a mistake because I started getting panic attacks while driving again. At that point I surrendered to the fact that I actually need it. I didn't even attempt lamictal
  12. Looking back he did look like a bug. He use to wear those gigantic glasses from the 80's. After that he grew it back and had it for 20+ years
  13. Thank you..ill definitely try those samples!
  14. When I was that age my dad shaved his mustache he always had and I cried for days because I thought he looked like a bug. Like everyone else says children are scared of change. Yours will be a gradual one though so I dont think it will be a big deal. once you come home from surgery not looking totally different I think everything will be ok. Good luck!
  15. I guess ill have to go down to gnc or vitamin shoppe and get some samples. I wanted to go to costco and get premier shakes but the doctors office said "it doesnt matter what u use.. there is isopure people use"..no help at all so im going by that ..just no chocolate or vanilla flavors for whatever reason?..if there's any other shake suggestions please let me know
  16. How many bottles would you need a day?
  17. Congrats! I have bcbsny and I was approved really fast to..good luck with your surgery!
  18. Thanks for a answering!.congrats on the weight loss! ..I have no experience with protein shakes..do you know if they sell samples?
  19. Ok so I've been reading how nasty most of the flavors for isopure are. My dr office recommended I use that(starting pre op liquid diet next week) but I was just wondering are there are any tolerable flavors worth trying. ?
  20. I have empire bcbs ppo NY..they cover the surgery 100%. The only thing I have to pay are the co pays which is $30 for specialists and $20 for my regular pcp..so I spent $175-$200 for those visits and that's it
